Once Upon a Time fans at D23 Expo were treated to a never-before-seen
clip from the season three premiere Saturday.
The upcoming season finds the ABC drama's heroes and villains traveling from Storybrooke to Neverland to retrieve Henry ( Jared S. Gilmore ). The clip featured Rumplestiltskin ( Robert Carlyle) given an ominous warning from one of Peter Pan's lost boys, showing viewers that this is not going to be same Pan from children's bedtime stories.
"When Rumplestiltskin lets us know he is someone to be frightened of, I am frightened," co-creator Edward Kitsis told D23 attendees during the panel. "Neverland is the heart of darkness, but they're going into it to save Henry."
Added co-creator Adam Horowitz: "We're putting our own spin on it. It's a little different than what's been seen before."
------------
Wonderland follows a young Alice (Sophie Lowe) in Victorian London who tells of a strange new land that exists on the other side of a rabbit hole. Like OUAT, Wonderland will feature flashbacks that give more insight into the characters. Unlike OUAT, the first season will feature a complete story arc.
"It will be much like a movie, or like how they went on one mission in Star Trek, and another year it was another mission," Kitsis said.

I like that they're going to be primarily emphasizing a completely new world, though I am very interested to hear how Belle is doing left behind in Storybrooke. We badly needed a change of scenery; less contemporary Earth-based fantasy and more realm-jumping stuff.
ReplyDeleteWhy do people always talk about how Belle is going to handle Storybrooke when Red is also there and is also as equally and awesomely a badass as Belle is?
ReplyDeleteBecause Meghan Ory left the show as a regular. Her S2 storyline was dumped by Horowitz & Kitsis, so she went looking for work somewhere else, i.e. CBS' "Intelligence".
ReplyDeleteThat is definitely a bad thing... I freaking love her...
ReplyDeleteI know right? She was such a great character and I'm really disappointed to see her go.
ReplyDeleteAt least not this season. If they are smart, they won't kill the character off, but 'lock her up' somewhere (Like Belle and Sydney), because it's possible Intelligence won't make it.
ReplyDeletePartly because Meghan Ory won't be around to film as much, and partly because Rumple was clearly placing her in a leadership role when he gave her the spell to shield the town with. I agree, however, that Red would be another obvious choice to fill the power vacuum left by all those major characters going to Neverland. I'm hoping that in whatever capacity Red does appear, we see her working alongside Belle and assisting her.
ReplyDeleteI hope it doesn't make it - though I realize that's extremely unkind. :) Meghan is so beautiful and does such a fantastic job with the character. She's really had to run the full gamut of emotions in her work on Once. I'd like to see her continue in an increased capacity, maybe in Season 4 - assuming there is one. She could easily carry a more significant role, and I'm really disappointed with how they handled her in S2. After using her heavily in a couple of sub-par stories, they went on to reduce her to nothing more than a glorified babysitter for Henry.

Don't forget about the times she was abused as a sniff dog to find lost people.
I REALLY like the premise of Intelligence and can't wait to see her opposite Josh Holloway!! -I was just pointing out there is still hope for her on OUAT just in case for whatever unforeseen reason Intelligence could fail.
ReplyDeleteI know. It's totally selfishness on my part. :) I hope the show takes off, and I'm very excited about seeing Holloway in the limelight again - particularly alongside Meghan.
ReplyDeleteNO KIDDING! You're absolutely right.
ReplyDeleteOUAT needs to be back like, right now. I can't wait any longer. I need to see all this Rumple/Peter Pan/Neverland/Ariel stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'm really really happy that people don't actually forget about Red!! Lately all I've heard was "I wonder how Belle will handle Storybrooke??" or "Will Belle be the mayor??" or "Will Bell be the next sheriff??" and will Belle do that, will Belle do this... I was like, where's the love for Red??
ReplyDeleteThe more I learn about Wonderland the less I find myself inclined to sign up for this.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm very very very weary about the course S3 is OUaT is about to take....
I've been let down way too many times by these guys and their void promises....
