  1. I have been wanting this for three fucking years! I am so fucking happy right now you have no idea.

  2. There are a lot of OUAT fans who have been pulling for this casting choice and I'm happy for them. It's almost impossible for anything on this show to gain anything near a unanimous approval. This will come close. This doesn't do anything for me though. She's just so... boring. Maybe if they give her some good material it'll change my mind.

  3. Can't say I'm surprised, even though I didn't really want her as Ariel, as I always pictures as dumb-as-a-bag-of-rocks, Cheyenne from Reba. I LOVE Ariel though, so I hope she will be good.

  4. Isn't she a little too old?

  5. I feel the same, although I don't know the actress well at all. But it's nice for the people who have been wishing for this. It's at least in good merit on the writers/producers end.

Hm, never heard of her so we will see if she is good actress. Would have liked the casting to be more inventive and out of the blue, though.

  7. I know her from Reba, but I can't picture her as Ariel. Will take getting used to.

  8. Yeah, this ought to engender some goodwill with a lot of fans.

Never seen her in anything. She's certainly pretty, and there actually is a resemblance to Disney's Ariel in her features. I'm trusting that she'll be good; the OUAT team really hasn't made a bad call on casting yet.

  10. She doesn't look like Ariel to be honest, all there is in common is the red hair. Her facial features give me more of a feline feeling instead of Ariel's soft features. Not happy with this casting. And yes, I know the show isn't depicting the characters exactly as the Disney versions of them, but they are my reference. She might be a good actress, but she doesn't look like Ariel.

  11. Yes, there's also this. I don't like this casting. They should have cast a 20-something actress.

  12. she is a red head has been for a few years but age wise a bit old she did a great job in the sitcom Better with you

  13. I remember first season, there was a very vocal fandom pushing for her.

And I kinda like it, specially that she is older than Ariel, I wonder how will it play aging such a bright eyed character, it could be very, very interesting. I'm all for seeing and Ariel full of broken dreams and actually finding her way to regain some innocence and optimism.

  14. Yeah, I always thought of Ariel as maybe 20, no more than 24, considering how she acted and all.

  15. Yes they pick the actress I really wanted as Ariel for Prince Eric I hope they pick Tom Welling or Chad Michael Muarry I just hope when they to do Rapunzel they pick Bethany Joy Lenz

  16. I am very happy, because she has that likeable something and apparently this Ariel is supposed to be quite sneaky and manipulative, so it is interesting to have someone who looks so sweet and like a nice girl next door and then BAM, she conned you and stole your lunch.

  17. I loved her on Reba and I think it could work I'm more concerned with how Ariel's story will be written.

  18. GREAT choice!!! JoAnna is an amazing actress. I loved her on Reba. She's really funny and adorable. Even if she's older, she looks really young! And she's very pretty. She was also the first choice by most fans for Ariel. There were so many articles about who should be Ariel, and her name was always at the top of a list. She's one of my favorite actresses. Just really likable! I wonder if the producers heard the fans discussing her, and that's what gave them idea to cast her!

  20. I know she's been on the top of quite a few people's dream casting so that's nice it worked out....
(Wasn't she also approached by the show in S1, but it didn't pan out in the end....? Do I remember that wrong?)

I like her! I'm not crazy about her, but I do like her, so here's hoping the writing does the character justice and she's able to make it work.

  21. Haven't seen her in anything but physically,I like her.By now we shouldn't be surprised that the creators don't choose actors based 100% on their resemblance to the Disney characters. It has worked for them so far,I think.Really looking forward to seeing Ariel.

  23. I have pulling for this for three years and I can't believe it's actually happening. So happy right now!

  24. I do not watch the series anymore, but she is the PERFECT Ariel!

  25. I am so happy about this I've wanted this to happen. One of my favorite actresses playing my alltime favorite Disney Princess best casting choice yet on this show.

  26. Well looking at the actress, she def has Ariel's features. I think she looks youthful enough, but honestly, I think given that Disney's is surely based on HCA's work and because Disney neither in the Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, or POTC doesn't give specific mythology to the way a mermaid evolves or ages, I don't think any of us can determine how old Ariel is, let alone the fact that Once puts "spins" on it all anyways, ---and we don't know "when" in Ariel's life we are meeting her verses when other events have taken place. (she does become a mother in Disney's sequels!!)

I'm actually happy we're not going the teenage route and that possibly this Ariel might have more substance than Disney's...

  27. Yay, Ariel! I recognize her from Reba. With red hair, she'd look like what I thought Ariel would like in non-cartoon, human form. I think she's a good choice. I thought she did a good job on the Reba episodes I saw. Hopefully, the writing for her character will be good. I'm looking forward to Once's Ariel scenes.
