Nice. Even though I am not really looking forward to OUaTiW, Barbara Hershey is always amazing.
ReplyDeleteI guess this is how they will try to get people to watch because I don't think many will even people that watch OUAT.
ReplyDeleteI hardly think anyone will start watching Wonderland because of Cora who is probably only going to appear every now and then and who is only going to have a minor role in a overall storyline of the show.
ReplyDeleteShe will be my only reason to watch this tbh.
ReplyDeleteIts a pity the gave an awesome character such a craptastic end.
ReplyDeleteOUAT's ratings have plummeted over the course of the second season. I don't see how the show earned a spin-off in the first place.
Awesome news! And great so Naveen appear so early in the series! :)
ReplyDeleteRead the coment right below this one.
ReplyDeleteI'll only be watching this for Barbara! And only her episodes.(i'm assuming she won't be in all of them?) She's incredible and I lost interest in OUAT when Cora died.
ReplyDeletePreach. I stopped watching after 2x15/16 - which is a damn shame since I loved this show in its first season. I think I will like Alice a lot more, if they don't cheese it up. I still don't see why they killed Cora off to be honest, not a smart move when you don't have many vilians to spice the show up.
ReplyDeleteGreat, I loved her character
ReplyDeleteWhat does Jafar have to do with Wonderland?
ReplyDeletefor me he be the father of cyrus (boyfriend of Alice)
ReplyDelete" if they don't cheese it up" that is a big if. I won't hold my breath, but will check the show out in order to see if it is too lovey dovey or more in the real Alice adventurous spirit.
ReplyDeleteScore! Now if Sebastian Stan could find some time just have a mini arc, that would be lovely!
ReplyDeleteH and K teased that the Red Queen might have learned her ways form Cora, so I could see OUAT fans who might have been more on the fence to have more incentive now...
ReplyDeleteDon't know exactly, but the Aladan (and other Asian/Mideastern/Eastern) stuff is crossing over for sure, since Cyrus is a Persain name and he is a genie...
ReplyDeleteSo Wonderland didn't offer enough mythos they have to add Aladdin too? They don't even go together at all. I don't want to be so cynical about it, but when they say things like Alice isn't coming from Victorian England it's a fantasy Victorian England universe, I mean what are they even thinking that makes no sense. And having Jafar in Wonderland doesn't really work for me. Even artistically. When Whedon had to balance the colors and language of Thor with Iron Man I was worried, it is so hard to make rainbows and high tech work, but he did, somehow. Wonderland is a psychedelic forest vs a golden ornate desert. The themes don't work either. I wish I did, but I just don't get it.
ReplyDeleteHe's busy being the Winter Soldier for Marvel. From what I hear he's signed a six-film contract. Don't expect arcs for the Mad Hatter. Guest appearances like the beginning of OUAT s2 maybe, depending how his role in futures films/filming schedule. But Winter Soldier has become massively popular since his debut so I doubt Seb Stan will appear in any significant capacity.
ReplyDeleteThat may be true but they should be done filming soon and sjnce marvel doesn't shoot sequels right away because of their cinematic universe plans, Stan should have some free time unless he has another movie booked which isn't marvel related
ReplyDeleteFirst good thing they've said about Wonderland since the plot synopsis.
ReplyDeleteI suspect most people who watch OUaT will check out the pilot at least due to curiosity.
ReplyDeleteThat's the best piece of news with relation to this show, since Naveen joining was announced.
ReplyDeleteStill not thrilled about the whole endeavor though.
Its hard to predict where Winter Soldier will end up appearing in the MCU. He may be in Cap 3, but its also possible he may appear in Avengers 2 in some capacity, or maybe get his own film, or have him appear in the SHIELD tv show to cross-pollinate the movies/tv.
ReplyDeleteI think Stan's priority right now is with Marvel, not ONCE. After all, ONCE won't make him a household name. Marvel will.
I know what he is filming, but sometimes characters who are busy can squeeze in a 4 episode mini arc. Ex OUAT S3 Giancarlo Esposito! I was thinking maybe at the end of season.
ReplyDeleteIs that what they said (That it's not the LWOM's past), but a "Victorian reality" ?? Could you give me a link!? I missed that, but was wondering about since we are currently going to be in Wonderand post curse...
ReplyDeleteI think it's interesting cross over because Eastern Myth is kind of zesty and I'm curious how that fairs with trippy wonderland...I'm thinking that the Red Queen and Jafar might have a history similar to Regina and Rumple...or that Jafar, like Cora, got sucked into Wonderland somehow...-Even Regina had a Genie once...
It will be going a little Eastern as well, as MidEastern, as there is one Asain character listed...Wonderland could be perceived like certain kinds "zen", where the ides is to think about the many sides to way in which something "could" work, since Wonderland will no doubt have 'backwards' or opposite quantum mechanics. In Terms of MidEastern Philosophy or Ancient Persian you have Illuminationism and things like "existence precedes essence" in Transcedent Theosophy (existentialism) -If anything I see control and tradition being challenged Wonderland. Arabian Nights (Pesian, Arabic, Indian) thematically explores destiny. Some scholars think it was influenced by European literature.
Yes yes all you said is pretty much a given but my point was that all of Marvel's Phase 2 movies are done with the exception of Avengers 2 which won't see production until next year. I doubt he'll appear in Shield since they want to separate the show first from the Avengers to establish itself to prove it can stand alone. If he doesn't have anything in line after Winter Soldier, he'll have time to Appear In OUAT
ReplyDeleteI think they killed her off to emphasize 'process of elimination' in terms of our main characters getting to better/worse places so they can start moving on away from the curse and start to "re-examine" their new found dualistic identities. Cora is really "excess baggage" for Regina. She really is the bridging character needed to get us connected to Neverland stuff, which is why I also think OUAT in Wonderland will work, because the timing is perfect. Plus it's possible that Neverland may give more insight into the possibility of an afterlife or spirits, given the potential to have major LOST parallels.
ReplyDeleteAlso just to add that OUAT and FTL has such a vast collection of Grimm/Eurpoean tales, way more than Lewis Carroll does, so I don't blame them for spanning out.
