It is the end of the road for Starz ‘s Magic
City . The pay cable network has opted not to order a
third season of the period drama, with the Season 2
finale on Friday serving as a series finale.
I rather enjoyed this show... and, other than Da Vincis Demons, I dont know what else they have that is even remotely worth watching. Great cast, hope to see them all again on other shows soon.
I echo the sentiments of the other comments here. Terrific cast. The show seemed to be missing something, but I can't put my finger on it. It kind of plodded along through most of this season. There were some interesting situations that maybe could have unfolded a little differently.
For example, in the most recent episode -- there was a scene at Diamond's new club where they install the 2-way mirror and Stevie looks at it and envisions Lily on the other side with a gun. What if that was the moment he realized the truth? Instead, he knew all along and the scene didn't have quite the impact it could have had.
Oh wow. I'm so disappointed. Yes. I was very late to get into the series, but once I started I really enjoyed it. The cast was phenomenal and I am sure they will all do very well. I have a feeling for Friday's season finale Sy Berman is just going to kill everyone. I mean, in the preview he says that is what he does. LOL. Can't wait.
I was hoping for the same reaction. That Stevie figured out that Ben was watching he and Lily. I mean, thinking of it, why would you go to the Butcher's house to screw his wife even if he claimed not to be there? He has servants and body guards who would see this. Stevie is such a dimwit. I hope he gets killed.
Thanks for the read. I actually could have done without so much sex and nudity, but that is just from my viewpoint as a mom. I don't mind some when it's part of the story, but to have so much thrown in just to keep the male viewership was crazy. Even my husband wasn't too pleased.
I feel that way as well -- It's like cooking or baking. Yes we like a little sugar. Yes we like to use butter, but we don't just dump a pound of butter in the bowl with a pound of sugar and bake it.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Thank you, STARZ!!
ReplyDeleteGood cast, lackluster show. I hope the majority of the cast lands better TV gigs during the upcoming pilot season.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if maybe JDM will be back on SPN this season now that he might be available.

ReplyDeleteOH, that would make my day, John, Cas & Crowley in the same season..how great would that be.

ReplyDeleteI just had this thought for S3 (moot point now that the show's cancelled)
ReplyDeleteIke succeeds in eliminating Ben Diamond, but then has to contend with Stevie, who inherits Ben's empire. Nah. . . it would never work!
It was one of the best shows.
