How I Met Your Mother - Season 9 - Cobie Smulders interview with IGN

IGN TV: Is it a different energy this season, going in knowing it’s the final year and this will be the end of the story?

Cobie Smulders:
You know what, it sort of feels like business as usual right now, except for the fact that we’re shooting on a completely different stage, which is weird. It’s like, “Where’s craft service? Where’s the bathroom? I can’t find these things.” So that’s been a bit of a superficial difference. We have so many sets. We’re at this wedding, so it’s basically all these sets for this weekend getaway place. So that’s been weird, but we’re just sort of like, “Let’s just do it.” There’s so much to do that we’re just doing it. Every once in awhile it hits me, “Oh, this is the last season.” I feel like around the holidays it’s going to start to really sink in.

IGN: This season obviously has a very different framework, the way you’re telling the story over the course of one weekend. The show has gone back and forth in time a lot. Is this different for you guys just knowing that it’s going to take place over this very truncated period of time?

Smulders
: Yeah, it is. It’s very different, but it’s also great. It feels like a completely different vibe. It’s nice to switch it up and we’re not just sitting in a bar. I mean, there are scenes where we’re going to be sitting in the bar, but it kind of makes it feel slightly different. But all the players are there, so it just feels like, “Oh, things are changing, and that’s okay!”
