Grey's Anatomy - Season 10 - Scoop about Arizona/Callie

Thanks to LittleDreamer for the heads up.

For Grey’s Anatomy‘s Callie and Arizona, last season marked 23 steps forward and then one huge step back.

Yes, the forever-tested twosome gradually found their footing after Callie ignored Arizona’s wishes and amputated one of her wife’s legs in the wake of the plane crash. But then in the season finale, everything the couple built came crashing down when Arizona’s impetuous indiscretion with Dr. Lauren Boswell was outed.

“It was just devastating. Heartbreaking,” Sara Ramirez recalls of the gut-punch Callie sustained. “I mean, it’s everything you don’t want to have happen, for anyone.” (Revisit Arizona’s outburst scene, then read on.)

Adding insult to emotional injury: For Callie, this was the second time someone she was wed to cheated on her. (Thanks, George! Oh, and R.I.P.) As such, series creator Shonda Rhimes says, “Callie has got some stuff to deal with” — as does her Mrs. “Arizona’s not necessarily holding a grudge because Callie cut off her leg; that’s not really what it’s about,” Rhimes teases. “She got over [that] and sort of moved on, but never dealt with any of the underlying issues. There has to be something else going on there.”

  1. What really bothered me about last season was that none of them actually went to therapy. In real life, I doubt that the hospital or their insurance company would let them go back to work unless they went through a psych evaluation. Arizona IMO is the one the need the therapy the most, Callie helped a lot but there are things she just can't give her, things that a professional can.

  2. They did the whole psych evaluation storyline in S7 after the shooting, I guess they didn't wanted to repeat that. They kind of dealt with the plane crash in their own way. Cristina ran off to Minnesota, Meredith became Medusa Grey and Derek turned to teaching and got to see the wreck but Arizona never really had the chance to cope with the plane crash because of her missing leg. I think the issue here is not that she's missing a limb but that she hasn't properly dealt with the aftermath of the crash like the others did.

  3. So I just rewatched the Calzona scene from the S9 finale. And I just can't get over the fact that Arizona told Callie that she didn't lose a thing when Mark freaking Sloan died on her. He was her best friend. He was the man who fathered her child. He was the one who has always been there for her. He was the person who cared about her the most and who unterstood her in ways even Arizona couldn't. He was life-long-friend material and that person died on her. The things Arizona said to Callie were just colosally cruel and incredibly hurtful.

I like Calzona but their current situation is even worse than it was at the S9 premiere. I wouldn't expect happy Calzona for the mayority of the season. Their path to reconciliation is gonna a long and stony.
