Grey's Anatomy - Season 10 - Sara Ramirez THR interview

Aug 6, 2013

"All signs were pointing to everything getting better; Arizona was starting to initiate physical intimacy so I think Callie was under the impression things were getting better and very quickly Arizona made a decision for her own reasons that has broken the trust between them," Ramirez explains, questioning whether there may be something that came up before the plane crash that was unresolved between the pair. "Callie and Arizona have a lot of work to do but they have to get past the first initial reactive acting out-type stuff that people typically go through."

Stuck in the middle is Callie and Arizona's daughter, Sofia, which Ramirez says will further complicate the couple's season 10 journey. "It all gets messy and complicated," she notes.

Arizona, meanwhile, will do her best to try and engage Callie in any way, shape or form in the two-hour season premiere that finds the docs of Grey Sloan Memorial dealing with the outpouring of patients from the super storm.

  1. As Callie should be pissed...no surprise she's going to act out. What person wouldn't when they find out their significant other has cheated on them.

  2. The way I see it, their relationship right now is like an iceberg. Arizona's infidelity is just the tip of the iceberg. Arizona cheating on Callie isn't the real issue here, it is what made her cheat on her. The rest of the iceberg that's above the water represents Arizona's amputated leg, and again that isn't the real issue here. I'm not saying that the infidelity and the leg won't be an important part on their way to reconciliation, that is just what we can see but there is still this massive block of ice hidden underwater - feelings that have been bottled up, thoughts that were kept hidden and never shared & problems that have been pushed aside without being solved. Delving into that and uncovering the underlying issues is what's really gonna be important for Calzona moving forward. (I'm thinking way too much about this...)

  3. She should be pissed but not all people who get screwed over in a relationship act out. Some people handle it better than others.

  4. Callies reaction at the the end of the episode was priceless! She gave up on Arizona and her fight all over the season to make things really work out between them. I think that they are back to square one and now It's time for Arizona to finally accept her situation with her leg and move on eventually. I love them so much they are my favourite gay couple on TV but they always have so many obstacles to overcome....

  5. The two most boring characters on the show.. Off to Mandyland they should go...

  6. But Callie isn't the person who would.... especially since she's been at this place twice now....

  7. Personally I think the best thing Arizona can do right now is give Callie space.

  8. I think that's the whole point, that she got cheated on for a second time and this time, it's a whole lot more complicated than with George. With George is was just that he cheated but with Arizona.. They've been married for several years now and have a daughter, she can't just let go like she did with George.

  9. I don't discredit that the cheating situation is quite different this time around.
But it still is the second time a spouse cheated on her.

And I also agree she can just up and walk away from the marriage this time around. But personally I think they definitely need space.

  10. Well, you'd think going through it before would give her some perspective the second time around.

  11. You mean in terms of being more in control and not lashing out? You might be right, but on the other hand, as I was trying to say in my first comment it's not like Callie to not wear her heart on her sleeve....

  12. Callie will always be outspoken and will never ever hide her feelings well. I'm just hoping that this doesn't result in taking those feelings out on others.

  13. I can see her being a more abusive towards the interns, but I don't think she'll do something outright horrible.
I think she's emotional, but I can't say I've never pegged her as particularly vindictive. (case in point cafeteria scene with Izzie threatening to fight her after the cheating came out) so I think it will just be her flaring her temperament around.
Granted, if Mark was there he would step in and calm her down... hhhmmm.... that might be interesting.... see how she handles this without Mark in the picture to be her rock.

  14. Yeah, Callie might need to make a new friend or two to get through this.

  15. Fingers crossed Derek might help out here...
