Kevin McKidd used to always believe that Cristina and Owen were MFEO on ABC's
Grey's Anatomy , but following the couple's emotional split in the season-nine finale,
that may no longer be the case.
"Should we hold out for Owen and Cristina being a couple? I don't know anymore," the actor behind Dr. Owen Hunt tells The Hollywood Reporter of the couple's long-term prospects.
In the ninth-season finale, Cristina broke things off with Owen for what seems like the final time in the duo's tumultuous relationship when she realized that she was the only person standing in the way of Owen following his dream of becoming a father.
"Cristina has given him this huge gift and she, in a way, helps him at the beginning of the season -- pushing him toward it in a very loving way," McKidd says, noting he'll still have just as many scenes with co-star Sandra Oh (Cristina) as he did when the pair were an on-screen item. "She's going to be helping him navigate new waters, trying to find a person who's going to be the person who has a kid with him. She's definitely encouraging him. He's definitely going to explore how he's going to construct a world and a life to become a father, and Cristina is trying to encourage him.

Thank god! Now Owen is finally ready to stand on his own,w/o two feet without all the baggage he has been carrying,
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy with where they are going with this couple. I really admire Cristina for what she is doing for Owen, giving him the chance to become a dad and supporting him throughout the entire process.
ReplyDeleteI want Owen to adopt on his own.
ReplyDeleteHe will be on his own, Cristina is just part of his support system which he is in desperate need of. Ever since teddy left, he isn't really close to anybody expect for Cristina.
ReplyDeleteI used to love them but I have jumoed ship, because of everything that Kevin pretty much said in this article. It's just not gonna happen. It can't. As much as they might love each other, they just aren't on the same wave length. Letting go and moving on is the only way they can both be happy. And I can honestly see them being lifelong friends.... that connection is absolutely there.
ReplyDeleteSigh. I watch the show for them. The writers made a huge mistake with their storyline. They pretty much wrote them into a wall while promising fans that they'll be together. Not the first time Shonda has lied.
ReplyDeleteI watch GA mainly for them. this article makes me sad epr many things, especially the fact that according to Kevin for us fans will be like a suicide. Owen and Cristina bring in more to be "just friends of long life" excuse me, but I find it unreal and impossible!
ReplyDeleteAt this point I have almost no more reasons to watch GA.
Shonda always promises us something, and every time reneged all, this only on our Crowen! There has never stay calm! with the fact of pregnancy / abortion destroyed them and ended up in the 8th to give the coup de grace! at this point or end the relationship was already in the 9th or looking for a way to reconcile them!
has 2 great actors with a strong chemistry and could build an even more fantastic storyline, and instead took them to a fund-sac.
Do not get me wrong, I'm happy that Owen can be a father even if it means not being with Cristina, since she will not change opinion about motherhood. I admire Cristina for the act of deep love towards Owen fact, that let him to make him happy even if it means not to be together anymore ... is the pinnacle of change of Cristina!
I love Cristina, I love Owen. I love Crowen ... but I am disappointed by the many "promises" never kept! I was hoping that Shonda would fight for their and instead ....
I just want them to be the spoiler until the 12th episode and Shonda make us a beautiful gift in the 2nd part of the program, but now I no longer have hope!
- sorry for my bad English! -
