Glee - Season 5 - Cory Monteith tribute episode details

Aug 1, 2013

Fox’s entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly today confirmed that the planned Cory Monteith tribute will air in the third episode of Glee this coming season, which is slated to air Oct. 10. “That is the episode where Cory’s character will be written off and will deal directly with drug addiction and with the circumstances surrounding Cory’s death,” he said. That does not mean Cory’s character Finn Hudson necessarily dies of a drug overdose, Reilly cautioned. But series co- creator Ryan Murphy will shoot PSAs with the cast that will air during the episode. They will speak to the incident and drug addiction, Reilly said. Additionally, the proceeds from the music in the episode will be used to set up a fund for Monteith. “It is a celebration and really sad of this really vibrant kid,” Reilly said. The Cory Monteith tribute will follow the two-part Beatles- themed Glee season opener, which had already been in the works. After Episode 3, Glee goes on hiatus for baseball “as a natural break to reset,” Reilly said.

  1. Oh god, I can't imagine what it feels like to film a tribute episode. I stopped watching in the beginning of season 4 but I will for sure watch the tribute episode. Finn was my favorite character on the show so I will be bawling the whole time I'm watching it.

  2. In true Glee style this will even be their best episode or really awful, its going to be tough on the cast and crew though.

One thing I'm not getting, the Beatles tribute will be aired on the same day or in two weeks?

Sure, but are they airing back-to-back or not? It seems weird to do the same thing for two weeks.

  7. With the greatest respect and as PC as possible - how can Lea put herself through this? I would have run for the hills. I can't even imagine how hard this will be for her.

  8. This is from an article from last week:

The “Glee” boss also revealed there was talk of ending the series completely, but said Lea made the call to continue with the show (which will have therapists on hand to help the group cope with Cory’s loss as they return to the set without their friend and co-star).

“[Lea] felt that the best thing for the cast and crew was to be together and to get back to work and be together every day and talk about our memories of him,” he explained. “So we decided to do that with Lea’s blessing and we’re going to go back to work and have grief counselors on the set for two weeks because people are really hurting.”

  10. This will be so hard to watch. Think I'll buy a box of Kleenex right before the season starts. I wonder whar songs they'll sing?? (And that's rhetorical, I don't want to know til it airs).
