  1. I'm kinda glad they went with an older Doctor this time around, should be fun and I'd love to see his dynamic with Clara. Now if we can only get a new showrunner.

  2. The guy even looks like a classic-era Doctor. I'm already wondering what the show will do for a wardrobe change.

  3. I really can't wait to see him as the Doctor now and yes the dynamic with Clara and any future companions should be really interesting.

  4. NGL that game me tingles. LOVE him.

  5. Fangirls on tumblr are saying they won't watch because he's too old. Obviously they know nothing of Doctor Who beyond New Who's tendency to cast young attractive guys. Twits.

  6. He's totally different from Matt Smith's energetic youth, he seems more like a cross between Tennant and Smith. But older, more contemplative.

That's not solely based on this video, but on his appearance on the reveal show as well.

  9. Isn't he the guy from torchwood: miracle day who killed his family and himself in the end?

  10. Do you recall him appearing in Season 4 episode 2 in Doctor Who? bc i cant remember lol

  11. I know he acted like a Jack ass in Torchwood: Children of the earth lol but i could see him a doctor giving clara his wisdom lol and constantly saying i remember one time or there was a time where i lol

  12. I read that he was in 'The Fires of Pompeii' and vaguely remembered him, but I needed to see his picture to verify. Remembered him more clearly from Torchwood (it was a pretty memorable role).

  14. I thought the same thing!

Kind of a cross between the 3rd and 4th Doctors, John Pertwee and Tom Baker.

  15. Could not have made a better choice!
I may have to start watching again no! XD

I never could watch Matt Smith honestly....

    ReplyDelete
  16. Huh?

Matt Smith played, by far, the 'oldest' Doctor. Maybe his greatest asset was how he could convey his age with nothing but his expression.

  17. lol i know this one person who i got in to this show barley is gonna scream no. yes see is a girl, gonna take time to tell her relax its been like this before.

  18. Apparently some soppy girls and probably boys? are saying they wont be watching Doctor Who anymore, Hooray! another reason why Peter Capaldi is perfect to be the next Doctor

    ReplyDelete
  19. Matt Smith may have been the "oldest" in the sense of the series itself, but Smith was the youngest actor to play the Doctor. Which was his point I believe.

Matt Smith was 28........and acted even younger.

    David Tennant was 34.
    Christopher Eccleston was 41.

    PAul McGann 37
    Sylvester McCoy was 44.

    Colin Baker was 41.
    Peter Davidson was 31.
    Tom Baker was 40.
    John Pertwee was 51.
    PAtrick Torughton was 46
    William HArtnell was 58

  20. Thank now i remember lol...how old was he back there lol can't imagine him telling David when they made the that scene he would become a doctor who and now he is lol

  22. I'm a 17 year old male and I'll still be watching Doctor Who and probably never stop. Peter Capaldi is a perfect choice for the 12th.

  23. You missed my point entirely if you're saying that Matt Smith "acted even younger" than his actual age. He portrayed the oldest Doctor in attitude and spirit. I'm far from alone in that assessment.

  24. Im really happy!!! I cant wait to see his performance as the new Doctor. He will be amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  25. He seems almost Tom Bakery! I love him already!

  26. Hmm... apologies...
I thought I wrote "Matt Smith may have been the "oldest" in the sense you mean" as a preface... Oh wait... I did. So I did NOT miss your point whatsoever. Just completely disagreed with it and thought it did not relate to Pascal's comment you were replying to.

I struggled to watch him as the Doctor would have been more accurate. I watched for most of Smith's first season and quit due to dislike of him. I then caught up on that season before Season 6 started and watched most of Season 6 to reassess my feeling about him only to find him just as annoying. So I watched maybe 25 of his 45 episodes. I think 25 episodes is enough to make a fair assessment, but maybe you disagree. Perhaps he started showing this older spirit in the second half of his time as the Doctor?

And I am not nearly alone in thinking Smith came off as "younger" not "older" due to his hyperactive manic energy. Although, even if I were the lone opinion that thought he was the youngest in spirit as well, I would be entitled to that opinion. We simply do not agree on Smith's portrayal. Nothing wrong with that.

  27. And we care about fangirls because...

Oh, and I liked Matt Smith as the Doctor but... attractive? Seriously? Come on...

    ReplyDelete
  28. "He portrayed the oldest Doctor in attitude and spirit"

Respectfully, I disagree. Matt Smith portrayed a total child. It was fun to watch, but I couldn't take him seriously as "the oncoming storm". Jack Harkness was a complete old man in attitud and spirit compared to Eleventh.

  29. I disagree and @ViKi and @DarqueMode already made my arguments for me, so I won't reiterate them. xD

  30. I know. I love the wank. It's brilliant.

  31. Glad to hear it, my 15 year old son and his friends are all keen to see the new Doctor as well. No more negative nancys please. Let's trust they know what they are doing?

    ReplyDelete
  32. What a dashing chap he was, no wonder my 10 year old heart was all aflutter with a little hero worship!

  33. Goodbye you soppy dates, don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out. Oh and take your pervy fanfiction with you. Its just got odder and odder don't even get me started on the one with the ood!

  34. Baker was the first Doctor I saw when I was young, but PBS showed reruns with the previous Doctors and I always liked Pertwee!

Baker had that quirky charm most people associate with Doctor Who, but Pertwee was well, dashing like you said.

For me personally Tenneant is most likely the best Doctor of them all. He was the perfect mix of adventure hero, out-of-place alien, moral compass, darkness and chaos factor. Some Doctors had one or two elements in spades, but Tennant seemed to really be an amalgamation of all the previous Doctors to me.

That said, Pertwee and Tom Baker are right behind Tennant IMO.

  35. Oh my god I can't wait!! He will be amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  36. yeah maybe we'll lose them as fans, fingers crossed!
I'm a female and I could not be more excited about the choice of the doctor's regenerated self, as much as I loved Matt Smith's portrayal of the Doctor, he was very neurotic at times, not threatening at all. It's time for a change.
