"The Doctor's always said he’s thousands of years old, and suddenly he’s going to look closer to what we know he secretly is" says Steven Moffat, in an exclusive sneak-peek quote given to doctorwho.tv. "He’s going to look like an older man. A fiercer man. He won’t be the dashing young man he was a minute ago, and I think that’ll be rather exciting…"
Of Peter Capaldi, Moffat goes on to say "He’s always looked like Doctor Who, how has this taken us so long?! Because the moment you say his name, you go ‘Of course!’ Because he’s got the hair, and he’s got the look, he’s brilliant, he’s known to be a fan, of course it’s bloody him!"

I actually find it pretty good that the doctor is older, even though I was hoping for a bolder choice. Capaldi is an amazing actor.
ReplyDeleteMoffat can kiss those teen and young adult female viewers goodbye. But I'm guessing that is what he wanted to do. With them being probably the most vocal of the fan base.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they made 12 older, the show has become do American-ized, if they got a Brad Pitt type for 12, he would probably be stripped down to his boxers for Entertainment Weekly come Christmas. I feel like we are taking back Who with Peter. - like seriously, Comic Con got the 50th trailer first? London has a Comic Con to you know! #endbitterrant
ReplyDeletei don't care any more, just start the season plus special already....
ReplyDeleteMy niece is 15 and she is excited for him.
ReplyDeleteLove Peter Capaldi. Cannot wait to see him in action.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't think most teens are shallow as you think they are (you can blame the media for that thinking). 99% of comments I've read on tumblr, for example, are very positive and they are all looking forward to the change the older doctor will bring to our beloved show (28 years old female here, btw, not that it's important to anything :)).
ReplyDelete"thousands of years old"
ReplyDeleteMoffat doesn't even know how old The Doctor is. Since 2005, The Doctor has stated his age between 900-1200. He told Clara he was 1000.
I am 17 and I'm even more excited than before the 10-11 transition. I bet he's gonna be awesome as hell!
ReplyDeleteI don't think the Doctor knows anymore. Three told someone in "The Mind of Evil" he was "thousands of years old", too.
