MTV is proceeding with a fourth season of its flagship comedy series Awkward after locking in Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler as new showrunners.

    Wow, this is surprising. I was afraid that MTV was going to cancel it since it had low ratings in the first half of season 3. Hopefully with new showrunners, they can seriously improve the writing in the second half.

    The new showrunners will take over starting with S4. For the rest of S3, Lauren Iungerich will remain showrunner.

    The only thing I want for S4 is for the show to become a summer show again. Airing it in the spring/fall is a huge mistake.
