  6. Its hard to pick just one, there are a lot that would way better than any listed in this poll. Depending on the age they could go young like Lucy Hlae or older like Liv Tyler. If she dyed her hair black Hayden Patnettiere. Could also have Eliza Dushku, Megan Fox or Rachel Bilson. Also lots more would work.

As shallow as this might sound the hardest thing about casting Wonder Woman will be getting her physical appearance correct.

Diana is an amazon. She is supposed to be statuesque and striking in her beauty and overall appearance. Your jaw is supposed to drop.

All of the actresses listed in the Poll and that people have suggested in the comments are very attractive to be sure. No question. But none of them are statuesque and striking. Sorry, but its true.

    And the search continues.

    ReplyDelete
  13. if this girl isn't statuesque and striking for you, then sorry, but you are blind

  14. For a movie, Gina Torres.

For a TV Show and appealing to a younger generation, Jaimie Alexander.

  15. Your making it sound like she's supposed to be unrealistically beautiful. Like there is no woman that could ever measure up. Thats not true.

She is supposed to be an amazon which means the actress should have curves, muscles and breasts, not be a skinny stick. She should have dark long hair and be extremely attractive. There are lots of actresses that fit that description and some good ones listed in the comments.

    ReplyDelete
  16. right. I think she's outta this world and absolutely stunning. and a perfect wonder woman

    ReplyDelete
  17. I agree Jodi Lyn O'Keefe is beautiful and looks like wonder woman. I'm not a big fan of the actress, of course she usually plays a psycho bitch character so I might like her more as a good guy.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Lucy Lawless would be cool. But then again she is maybe too old. Anyway, Xena rocks!

    ReplyDelete
  19. She is amazing and badass

    ReplyDelete
  20. Eliza Dushku! She has the curves, muscle and really can do elegant!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Also a nice choice

Just for the record. Nobody is slagging Jodi Lyn O'Keefe. She's beautiful and she comes pretty close but she's just not quite there.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Historical_Materialist29 July 2013 at 14:28

Wrong. She IS supposed to be unrealistically beautiful. You're supposed to look at her and say "holy shit". Not only is she supposed to be an Amazon but she is their princess and Champion.

Whoever plays her is supposed to look convincing enough to make you believe she is the most beautiful woman you've ever seen but also that this person is powerful enough to go toe to toe with Superman.

    Love Eliza Dushku. Too short.

  25. Everyone is making some pretty cool suggestions except for one little problem, Wonder Woman is a 6ft. plus Amazon while wearing her "Battle Boots" is near Superman and BatMan's height (well over 6ft.). Now this is a TV series (not cartoon, comics, or animation) so the actress has to be able to pull off the illusion of "Amazonian Height/Size" with what they are "Working" with and 3 in. "Battle Boots". The two tallest actresses in my suggestions are Kristanna Loken and Ellie Chidzey who are both 5 ft. 11 in. and the two shortest actresses are Jill "Mercury Girl" Wagner and Eleanor Gecks who are both 5 ft. 9 in.! My selections were made from three guidelines 1) Appearance/Beauty and Physical Build (Athletic/Curvy) 2) Acting skill/experience 3) Height needed to pull - off the "Illusion" of a 6 ft. plus "Battle Queen"! Either way this is my second poll so let just have a great time like the "Lost Girl Shipper" poll and keep the votes and comments coming...........Thank You all! 4 A SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE, I am Nobody!!!

  29. No one. Wonder Woman is a black hole of TV development. I'm almost completely convinced that no one on either side of the camera is capable of making this character into a successful TV series.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Here are two more suggestions for the pot............the first should be a "Winner" for the Lost Girl Fandom (and the little "shippers" that could" in Rachel Skarstan who is 28yr old (young), stands at 5 ft. 8 inches, and has a curvy/slender body/build. Her acting experience goes without saying and some weight training can "Muscle - Up" her slender frame (ie: Linda Hamilton T2/Lost Girl S3). The other for those looking for a new/fresh face would ANTM Cycle 3 finalist Ann Markley who is 30 yr old (young) and stands at 5 ft. 11 inches (tall enough) and has done commercial after commercial work for the last two years (you can see her in the new FIAT " The Italians are coming" commercial). Well that's my two cents and I;m sticking to it! 4 A SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE, I will be Nobody!!!

The following is a link to a Fan Film staring Nina Bergman a professional stunt woman. Although I think she is ultimately to short; this short film does a remarkably good job in capturing the overall tone and spirit of a TV or movie production.

  32. Phoebe Tonkin if she wasn't busy with The Originals.

  33. charisma carpenter

  34. Horrible actress playing wonder woman.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Paget Brewster or Tricia Helfer

    ReplyDelete
  36. I agree with Tricia Helfer only. She has the acting experience, the "Right Look", and the size and body/build (height 5 ft 11 inches). She would need a little muscle added, but otherwise would the role just fine. The other suggestion is a fine chose except for the age, 44 yrs old. If the series ran 6 seasons your star would be 50 yrs old; no way is a network signing on for that! 4 A SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE, I am Nobody!!!

  37. Other: an unknown, good actress that can come in fresh and own the part... hopefully...

    ReplyDelete
  38. She looks the part, but I don't think she's got the acting chops.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Joss.... maybe..... but they didn't let him do it how he wanted, which was probably stupid on Warner's part....

    ReplyDelete
  40. DC will never give anyone carte blanche with any of its characters. It's not how they roll.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I would have agreed with your earlier comment about "black hole of TV", but I've seen "The Dark Knight" and "X - Men: First Class". Both films prove that comic book (s)heroes can translate just fine to "Live Action" TV or Film production if the parties involved put their best effort forward. Agree or Disagree? 4 A SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE, I am Nobody!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I admire your optimism but Wonder Woman is an entirely different animal, one that both television and film have been trying to tame for decades with no luck whatsoever. No other comic franchise comes close to the epic rate of failure that Wonder Woman has experienced over the last three decades and, until proven otherwise, is simply an unproductive commodity. Producing a live-action Wonder Woman project is like betting on the Washington Generals.

    ReplyDelete
  43. You are brutal, but honest and I can appreciate that; however I will respectfully disagree with you if I may. I believe a director/producer like Del Toro or Nolan could make this happen and work just fine if not great. The trick of course is casting the main character right. Thank you for your admiration but I'm a "Passionate Enthusiast" or Nothing/Nobody at all! 4 A SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE, I will remain Nobody!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Fair enough. You back your belief and I'll back the track record and we'll see who wins. :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. That works for me, but after this last Wonder Woman Failure we could both be waiting a long time before settling our stand - off (lol)! 4 A SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE, I will stay Nobody!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. But it's Joss!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'd really be okay with sacrificing height for acting ability and casting a plausible action heroine.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think a part of this is because the comics themselves are pretty awful. Not all, but most. Her history is just not as translatable as other characters'. I don't even know who her arch nemesis is, really.

Saying that, the new take on her character would be awesome - concentrating a lot on the mythological side of it. Wonder Woman could most definitely be DC's answer to "Thor" in the movie universe.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Poor visual direction and a miscast of the main character ended the latest series before the "Pilot" could launch. Another reason behind my choses was that I couldn't visualize any of these women calling for help or screaming to be rescued. Jill "Mercury Girl" Wagner would slap the $#!T out of Lex Luthor before letting Superman save her! Kristanna Loken would thrash the "Joker" so bad that BatMan would have to save him! Of all the comment/suggestions made so far Bridget Reagan at 5ft 10in (Kahlen - Legend of the Seeker) has been the best one so far. Jodi Lyn O'Keefe is also another good pick, but I'd like her to "Linda Hamilton Up" for the part to really sale the "Amazon Battle Queen" side of the character. 4 A SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE, I am Nobody!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. If you're talking about the Wonder Woman McBeal pilot then there was a whole lot going wrong there before even getting to the casting. It was awful from the get go.

I haven't seen any of those suggestions in action so I can't really comment. Jodi Lyn O'Keefe looks like the most fitting suggestion, though that's based only on physical appearance.

I think the priorities should definitely be listed in order of

    1) Acting ability
    2) Plausibility
    3) Likeness

I'm still very much in the "Gina Torres" camp. While there's obviously not much resemblance between the character and the actress, Torres' presence is incredibly commanding. If the importance is on an actress who is believable in the role of an Amazon Princess and has the acting chops, that is definitely my pick for now.

  51. Rachel would be nice.. but there is someone that reminds me of Rachel that would be even better. Nadia Bjorlin. She would be perfect! Also 5'8".. Black flowing hair and crystal blue eyes! The most gorgeous woman walking the planet and she can act! She has the body without needing to muscle up as you say!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Nadia Bjorlin

    http://www.nadia-bjorlin.com/

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ellie Chidzey - D & D: Wraith of the Dragon God: Lux the Barbarian and Ann Markley (ANTM cycle 3 finalist) are my picks and I'm sticking with them I don't care what any of you say or do (lol)! I want my star to be a new face discovery and look bad a$$ enough to make General Zod their 8!TC# and knock that dumb look off the face of that "Dude" in the Man of Steel film (you know that dumb look from the Carl's Jr commercial)! And I must say to the poster that Nadia Bjorlin is a excellent pick..............you know who you are, just leave it at that. 4 A SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE, I am Nobody!!!
