Second Ruby (but overall the character itself, I just loved how utterly evil she turned out to be), Ellen Harvelle, no more explanations needed, and Jody Mills!!!!
Honorable mentions goes to Anna, but her arc ended so abruptly that it still bothers me. She just seems so unfinished as a character, a shame, since she could have been the most interesting angel in the series (instead we got a winged sausage fest)
So many I wanted to vote for, went with Jo, I wanted Dean and Jo together after she stopped being his little sister. Anna was my favorite Angel after Cas. Meg because she was almost as snarky as Crowley and never knew whose side she would be on. Also liked both Marys, Ellen, blonde Ruby, but I know Jared would pick the other Ruby. ;), Naomi and I wanted Sarah for Sam. She is the only one that really had sparks with him.
My number one has to be Mary Winchester. i loved her in all her versions, young, normal, alt universe, ghost and even Eve. Then it has to be Meg. She has accompanied us 'demonically' for the whole series and lastly Jody Mills whom I find really sympatheric. A great character who should be used much more but not killed off!!
Ellen and Jo would get a mention too. The others are more or less all on the same level except Amelia who is definately in the ultimate position for me.
For me it was close between Ellen and Jo but I went with Ellen because she was just so kick ass and awesome and could hold up her own against the boys. And there was never the possibility of a love Interest between her and the boys which is always a bonus for me. (Although seeing her with bobby in my heart will go on was epic).
Mary and Sheriff Jody are easy picks for me. The third one is a bit harder. I really liked Bela and Sarah was great. So sad they brought her back only to kill her off. Naomi was a waste of Amanda Tapping, but Abaddon may be the best thing they've got going for season 9. She will have to return in a different body though since her host body burned up. Meg grew on me and she definitely deserved a better death than the lame one Robbie Thompson gave her. Anna was one of the few angels I liked - she was smart. Jo and Ellen also grew on me and I ended up really liking them just in time for their truly epic death scene. Ava was awesome...until she became evil and killed off my favorite special kid, Andy, but I hated Ruby in both forms from the second she tree ninja-ed her way onto the screen. Lilith was best as a little girl. Didn't care for her more adult forms at all, but as a kid she was the creepiest thing on screen. I am one of the few people who truly loved Lisa and Ben and I hope they return in the final season. As for Amelia, well the least sad the better. Jeremy Carver completely missed the boat introducing her. He needed to make her sympathetic right from the start instead of making us wonder why Sam even cared.
Mary in all forms has been inspired. I even liked her when she was Eve. Probably the only times I didn't was the heaven version controlled by Zachariah, but that was because I hated him, and the dream one in When the Levee Breaks. Other than that, every time Mary is on there seems to be a revelation.
By the end Ellen had a great mix of no nonsense and motherly love which made her a character hard to forget. I was actually glad that they brought her back in season 6 and you know how much I like dead characters to stay dead.
I forgot about those two versions but one was Zachariah's projection and the other a hallucination of poor Sam's addled mind; so I won't count them. Otherwise she has been awesome. :)
Why is Charlie not on this list? She's a recurring character too and she's awesome. I voted for Meg and Anna too. I also love Ellen, Ruby 1.0, and Mary.
That's not what I meant and I'm pretty sure you know that. Charlie is a pretty popular character, in fact she seems to be one of the only girls in this fandom that doesn't get a ton of hate from the fans. So she deserved to be included and other isn't including her. Also no one likes a smartass which is very much what you seem to be doing right now.
It is very hard to create a poll in which everyone is satisfied. That is why these user created polls almost always have an "other" option. It gets tiresome hearing people complain about the choices of USER created polls every day and I find it very disrespectful to the person who created them. Most people who complain don't create and submit polls themselves but my guess is they'd have a different perspective if they did. Perhaps you should make one yourself and submit it.
I also would have voted for Charlie, but of those listed, I went with Meg. Although I was more fond of the actress who played her most recently (loved her odd approach to the character) than the original Meg.
I also liked Rachel Miner's approach to Meg. I think she became a little less over the top in her hands, when the writing allowed her to be more subtle. I just wish she had gotten a more epic death. A character of 8 seasons deserved something more memorable.
Ha! Dead is never dead on Supernatural. In fact, I'm beginning to believe that some of the best writing goes to characters that return from the dead in some form or another. Jo was awesome in Defending Your Life.
That moment always reminds me of the moment in What is and What Should Never Be when Dean leans into Mary's touch just a second longer. It is one of my favorite moments in the entire series.
Agreed. It is still my favorite but surprisingly not by as big a margin as it used to be. The graveyard scene is weighing it down a bit more than earlier years.
Ruby from Season 3 (Katie Cassidy) is by far the best. I keep hoping Laurel on Arrow will become the Black Canary so that she'll be at least half as awesome as the original Ruby.
Meg (both versions...come on, the second one shared the pizza man with Cas), Jo, Ellen, Bela, and Mary Winchester are all great too. I loved Anna but apparently I'm one of the few. I liked Naomi and loved Abaddon in the brief time we had with them, so I'm hoping Abaddon comes back for more episodes in Season 9. Oh and Charlie, she's great too!
Basically everyone besides Ruby 2.0 and Amelia Waste of Screen Time Richardson.
Ellen and Jo no doubt because they are fantastic. I was struggling with the third option so I ended up voting for Meg, she kinda deserve it because she been in it for a while until now. If I had a fourth option I would've tossed it up between either Ruby or Bella.
It was just creepy and uncomfortable; but kudos to Zachariah for making me feel that way. He was a great bad guy. Some of the best characterization on the show has come from the truly evil guys; Alastair, Zac, Azazel;Uriel,,.Pestilance, Famine etc. For me Lucifer himself although interpreted majestically by Mark P. was never as frightnening as some of these, even Crowley doesn't instill the same kind of fear.
Pestilance and Famine were never more than yuck to me and Uriel seemed more petulant than scary, but I wholeheartedly agree with Alastair, Zach, and YED. They were masters at being so evil they made me squirm. Zach was the slimy kind of evil like a co-worker who would stab you in the back and then step on you to get what he wanted. YED was the snarky villain prototype for SPN and I adored that about him. He was chilling and funny. Alastair was pure chilling, evil through and through so you couldn't help but be nervous when he was on screen. In a way Death is like Alastair to me just not evil. His mere presence gives a scene more gravitas.
Lucifer was a huge disappointment to me until season 7. Before then he came off as the petulant child he was and wasn't even remotely scary except maybe 1-2 times. Basically it was like watching the world's most self-aggrandizing crybaby. No fun at all. When I found they were bringing him back in season 7, I was appalled. Then he turned out to be snarky fun a la YED and I actually found him to be more scary as a hallucination than I did when he was earth's number 1 threat. Go figure. Lucifer was actually one of the reasons why I liked season 7 so much.
I loved how she was an outrageous character but she really seemed to fit into the hunting world. She had a confidence that was fun to watch. I wish they added more characters like this into the SPN universe.
I judge a bad guy by how he makes me feel and while I agree that Pestilance and Famine were more yuck than evil, they did provoke a response of disgust/horror in me, so in that they succeeded.
Uriel was less 'evil' in the full sense of the word but he smoted happily without any remorse, instilling a fear in me for the bad and traitorous quality of angels in general, something that up until now has never been confuted by any of the winged wonders we've seen , perhaps only by poor Samandriel.
Lucifer in season seven was really snarky and annoying. I agree that he gave his best performance there.
Is there someplace on this site where polls are listed? And has part 2 of the big one been listed yet, I keep scrolling on the home page and have not seen it.
You are so right, loved all these, but Alastair has always been my favorite, well the one played by Chris at least. Lucifer and Crowley just did not get the same evil vibe of those you listed.
LOL, you are sooooo bad. I was glad to see her on Motive and to find out it was not her acting, just awful writing for her character. But you are correct every time she opened her mouth I cringed.
Lol, don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing the actress but only the way she was portrayed on SPN. I've never seen her in anything else so I can't judge, but I certainly take your word that she is a good actress in other shows. :)
She is a Knight of Hell. She can repair the vessel. Hope so anyway as I loved that actress - she is the only one that doesn't overact the evilness. I hope to see her back in season 9.
Even as a Knight of Hell, it does not make sense that she use the same vessel. Why bother when she could take anyone? It's the same issue I have with Anna and Castiel coming back in the same vessels after their bodies were completely disintegrated. Makes no logical sense, which then bugs me and takes away from their scenes.
Part 2 is up now. I just keep going back until I see it. Because it is a 24 hour poll instead of everything ending at the same time like our SPN polls, the Best Show contest polls will go up at different times throughout the day.
She did an excellent job in Motive. She played a killer and I was able to sympathize with her somewhat. Sad the writing didn't allow me to sympathize with her as a vet on SPN.
Ellen got my vote. Loved her. After they killed her and Jo off, I watched for a little while, but then everything started to fall apart for me. Haven't watched the show in about 5 years.
For me a great bad guy needs to make me scared, laugh uncomfortably, and have me intrigued by the sheer genius of his mad schemes. Gross and disgusting don't do it for me although I can see how it makes a villain stand out. Alastair and YED had these in spades although in different amounts. I do agree though that Uriel helped taint the angels for me so that I wanted them all gone halfway through season 4.
Best character entrance ever. I would love to see Death back too since his character always means that scene is going to blow me away. He just has that presence. I also love how everyone is cow tailed by him.
Alastair just oozed menace, even to the way he spoke. Even seeing the actor elsewhere, I immediately get chills and uncomfortable. That was some powerful acting.
For me Crowley is a chameleon. Sometimes he radiates evil and sometimes he doesn't. I find it interesting how he can seem like two totally different characters depending on how they need to use him that season.
I may just have to write this on a calendar and remind you of it..but I had rather be wrong than say I told you so, do not ever want her back unless she is a demon(and she would have made a good one).
She needn't be a demon. She could have been under Naomi's control or a witch or another evil angel. Anything to explain her character and then get rid of her, if they weren't going to make her sympathetic.
Ha! The poll itself is 24 hours but it sometimes takes awhile to collate the info and get the next poll up. Plus Adam is in Great Britain so part of our awake time, he is sleeping. You'll just have to be patient. Besides anticipation can be a great thing.
I would have go with Dean's, "Thank you Captain Obvious" but Bobby works as well. I will respond with Sam's "It's just an interesting observation in an observationally interesting way."
IA - DYL was a very successful and creative way of bringing "Jo" back even though the episode had some non- Jo related issues and I also felt MHWGO was equally clever in bringing "Ellen" back. Will the show find other creative ways of bringing other "dead characters" back to "life" in S9+ without mutilating canon as was done frequently in S8? I'd love to see Bobby (temporarily as I know JB has a movie to film), Gabriel/The Trickster, Balthazar, Ash and/or Pamela back, just to name a few.
Because it makes absolutely NO canon sense for angels to be able to do it either, but since no one at all cares about canon on the show these days I'm sure we'll be expected to swallow that she comes back in her burned up body like there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. After all if the Great Kripke expected us to swallow that nonsense with Anna and Second Best Gamble with Cas, I'm sure Third String Carver will assume no one will have a problem with his logic misstep also. Even though BOTH Meg and Ruby had to switch bodies when their original vessels decayed.
I only watched the first 5 seasons, so I'm not familiar with some of the options. I picked Ellen, Jo and Mary. I think the Harvelles added a lot to the show, I liked the idea of expanding Sam and Dean's world and developing a connection to the hunter community, and the sweet family-like bond that developed. Plus, Ellen was great, badass and resourceful but warm and kind. As for Jo, it's a shame she was so poorly written in her early episodes because the character had so much potential - sadly, she disappeared after she started living up to that potential, was gone for 2.5 years, came back better than ever, and was then killed off. It's frustrating how many good characters were sacrificed at the altar of eternal angst and suffering. I kinda wish there was a spin-off chronicling Jo's adventures as a hunter.
With Mary, well... we didn't know much about her at first, but Amy Gumenick and the writing for young Mary in 4x03 and 5x13 really won me over. She was simply lovely, with so much heart and poise, but also fierceness and a warrior's spirit.
If I could vote for 1 more, I would have picked S3 Ruby. I loved the dynamic between Sam and her and how the show kept us guessing about her true motives. I do think she would have worked better if they toned down the snarky, bitchy attitude that seemed kind of silly and immature, and cast her better. Cassidy improved a lot over the season (and she *owned it* as Lilith, no question), but I still think a more talented and/or experienced actress would've gotten a lot more mileage out of the role. I would've preferred someone older as well, closer to Jared and Jensen's ages.
By the way, since this is such a common topic of arguments: I think it's okay if someone says that they think a certain option *should* have been on the poll and isn't there. Yes, it's a user-submitted poll so it's up to the submitter what the options are, but the question itself is a general one so someone else can express their opinion about what the options should be. The problem is only when they do it somewhat rudely, like the person who submitted the poll is supposed to cater to their needs ("WHERE is the [x] option? You can't have a [y] poll without [x]!".
1) Jo - first and foremost and FOREVER! because she was awesome and deserved way better than how the show and fandom treated her. 2) Ellen a close second. 3) Sarah was a personal fave of mine. Still bummed they brought her back just to kill her off like that...
Runner Ups: I also love Mary, Pamela and Meg (though I think Meg 2.0 was a hit and miss on occassion... Niki was hands down amazing every time. Rachel's chemistry with Misha is undeniable, but her portrayal of the character and some of the writing for Meg during her era was not always on point, which is why I had to bump the character down to runner up.)
Anna's character was terribly mistreated in the writing and her development. And take this from someone who didn't much like her on first go round. So I totally get your disappointment. I mean if even I who had no real connection to her managed to be all "WTF?!" with the sudden OOCness and the abrupt end to her story then I can imagine what it did to people who actually liked her!
Agreed about Lucifer. I was so underwhelmed in S5 by him, but the hallucinations made up for it. Mark's performance and approach to the character is easily the best part of that otherwise crappy ass S7 to me.
You know which one of these just bugs the hell out of that I can't bring myself to vote for? Bela...
And I think I despise in the fact that I loathe Bela, more than I actually hate the character herself.
I felt she had so much potential and in the end the character was so badly written... and it was done at the expense of everyone else on show too, and it bothers me because there was meat to the character.
A whole new perspective to the hunting business and supernatural world and a good tragic backstory story that tied well into the mythology. But noooooo!!!! It was more important to waste the character's screentime and make everyone look like dummies in the process (Bobby included. I mean when you have to dumb down Bobby to perch a character up you're freakin' doing it wrong! That's like a rule in SPN). By the time they decided to explore her it was too little too late. The damage was already done! I couldn't bring myself to care a lick about her....
I hate what they did to Meg. I loved her a villian in Season 1. She was really evil and bad ass. Then they had to go and make her a "friend". Let's not forget that Meg killed several of their close hunter friends, kidnapped their father, and caused Bobby to be paralyzed. They should have killed her the first change they got.
Ha there was two Megs - Meg/with attitude was a blonde with a "Pat Benatar Cut" and Meg/with jokes had dark hair and "ChipMunk Cheeks"! Either way I liked them both and................where's the LOVE FOR CHARLIE BRADBURY (Felicia Day)? She was great and funny! In fact give it up one time if you believe Charlie Bradbury and Castiel should have their own show, I do! Well it's good to have a dream. 4 A SUPERNATURAL DAY, I will be Nobody!!!
That's a very good point, I feel the same way. There was a lot of wasted potential in Bela. The angle of someone who deals in supernatural artifacts could've been really cool. And Kripke originally described her as a grey character, someone who could either help or hinder the brothers depending on the situation. But they made her pure villain, nearly getting them killed every time she appeared - and yet Sam and Dean kept treating her as a minor nuisance, not a threat. Plus the dumbing down of everyone in ways that didn't even make sense to make her seem so awesome, the gratingly posh, arrogant demeanor... just a fail on every count, and it's a shame because she really could've worked if written correctly. She was more interesting in her last episode than the previous 5 put together, unfortunately they only bothered to give her that extra depth when they decided to let her go.
Agreed. No matter what vessel they were in, it was always believable that they were the same demon. That takes a lot coordination since the actors didn't exactly get to talk to each other about their portrayals.
I am pro-season 7 for the most part so Lucifer actually being scary was just another plus for me. Before season 7 quite honestly I couldn't understand why so many people raved about his acting because he did absolutely nothing for me but make me roll my eyes and shake my head.
I prefer the dead to stay dead and not come back on technicalities but I admit that My Heart Will Go On was a fantastic way to give us more Bobby and Ellen scenes. Kudos all around for that episode.
It's still a sore spot, that's for sure. But after Naomi was introduced, I like to believe that she attempted to reeducate Anna, but she escaped. Still, her mind was damaged and her spirit broken, thus spiraling into madness.
Oh most definitely. Even with the one that I submitted about the different TV genres, there were a few people who got upset that I included horror under the genre label. It is really tough to try and think about ALL the opinions for the poll.
Mary Winchester, Ellen Harvelle, Meg, Ruby, Lilith, Abaddon, Ava Wilson, Sheriff Jody Mills, Pamela Barnes (Where is she on this list!???) Jo Harvelle, Anna, and Naomi.
Ugh it still hurts. 95% of the names above are dead. I am not ok with that. :(
I really wish they had originally set something in place in the mythos so that it would be more...in line with the story that certain characters kept their vessels that we know them by. Don't forget that Crowley was also burned to a crisp (well at least it appeared he was) in 6x10... and there is no way that character would've ever worked out coming back with another face.
I don't think Crowley actually burned. I think that was a combination of Crowley and Cas manipulating the situation to make it look like he was burning. Obviously burning someone else's bones would do nothing to Crowley. It was a way to get the Winchesters off his back so he and Cas could continue to search for Purgatory. I do agree that no one else could play Crowley. I'm still hoping that they don't kill the character with the human infusion and that Mark Sheppard will get his own series - doesn't matter what it is.
Jo, Ellen and Ruby 1.0 (Katie Cassidy) I didn't like ruby 2.0. Amelia shouldn't even be listed here, their are 1 episode characters that where better IMO, Amelia is the worst storyline in character in the show's history
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Jo, Ellen and blonde Ruby... it sucks she was replaced in S4. she was smokin' (and good actress)
ReplyDeleteSeason 3 Ruby and Bela
ReplyDeleteRuby season 3, Bela and Jo! :)
ReplyDeleteBlonde Ruby, Sarah Blake and Jessica.
ReplyDeleteSecond Ruby (but overall the character itself, I just loved how utterly evil she turned out to be), Ellen Harvelle, no more explanations needed, and Jody Mills!!!!

Where the hell is Sheriff Mills on this list? She's my number one for sure!
ReplyDeleteMine is Meg, Ellen, and Jo
ReplyDeleteRuby from season 3!
ReplyDeleteellen and jo harvelle.
ReplyDeleteRuby (Season 3), also original Meg and Jo :D love Bela too and don't get why she got so much hate.
ReplyDeleteAbaddon is THE best demon ever!!! Hope she comes back (in the same vessel of course)
ReplyDeleteZero for Amelia. LOL. Worst character EVERRRRR!!
ReplyDeleteShe was one of my three picks as well. Great character, it's a shame we didn't see more of her.
ReplyDeleteI kind of miss Charlie on this list!! Sheriff Mills also...
ReplyDeleteCharlie Bradbury!

ReplyDeleteShe is. It's the "Other" option.
ReplyDelete"Other - leave comment"
ReplyDeleteThat's why there is an other option.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Watching her and Zachariah flirt may be the single most uncomfortable I have been on this show and that's saying a lot.
ReplyDeleteThat's not what I meant and I'm pretty sure you know that. ReplyDeleteThat moment always reminds me of the moment in What is and What Should Never Be when Dean leans into Mary's touch just a second longer. It is one of my favorite moments in the entire series.
ReplyDeleteThe fucked up Meg so freaking much on her last appearance that I don't really want to see her again.
ReplyDeleteMeg, KC's Ruby, and Abbaddon
ReplyDeletePamela was pretty cool too!
Ellen Harvelle.
ReplyDeleteMeg, Jo, and Ellen.
ReplyDeleteJensen hit a home run in that whole ep, in my top 10.
ReplyDeleteAh Pamela, another character who died way too soon. She was awesome.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. It is still my favorite but surprisingly not by as big a margin as it used to be. The graveyard scene is weighing it down a bit more than earlier years.
ReplyDeleteCharlie Bradbury

ReplyDeleteDefinitely too soon!
ReplyDeleteEllen, Jo, and original Meg. Would someone please remind me who Amelia Richardson was? (Is that what Sam's girlfriend's last name was?)
ReplyDeleteYes,she was the terribly unsympathetic vet! I'm afraid poor Sam drew the short straw there, as did we all!
ReplyDeletePamela was great; then I love those characters who have an equal relationship with both brothers, which she did.
ReplyDeleteRIP in your concert heaven, girl! :)
It was just creepy and uncomfortable; but kudos to Zachariah for making me feel that way. He was a great bad guy.

ReplyDeleteJo forever.
ReplyDeleteI judge a bad guy by how he makes me feel and while I agree that Pestilance and Famine were more yuck than evil, they did provoke a response of disgust/horror in me, so in that they succeeded.
ReplyDeleteUriel was less 'evil' in the full sense of the word but he smoted happily without any remorse, instilling a fear in me for the bad and traitorous quality of angels in general, something that up until now has never been confuted by any of the winged wonders we've seen , perhaps only by poor Samandriel.
Lucifer in season seven was really snarky and annoying. I agree that he gave his best performance there.
Is there someplace on this site where polls are listed? And has part 2 of the big one been listed yet, I keep scrolling on the home page and have not seen it.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, loved all these, but Alastair has always been my favorite, well the one played by Chris at least. Lucifer and Crowley just did not get the same evil vibe of those you listed.
ReplyDeleteHaving Death in an ep has always made it better, Julian Richings is perfect and hope he comes back. Loved him and Dean eating that pizza, creepy.
ReplyDeleteha, you can tell the fans "loved" her, she has 4 votes. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised she even got them. There was just nothing redeeming about her at all. I can't understand why she was written in such a terrible way.
ReplyDeleteRiot was better company than she was, even if he couldn't talk; correction; I should say that's the very reason he was better. LoL !
LOL, you are sooooo bad. I was glad to see her on Motive and to find out it was not her acting, just awful writing for her character. But you are correct every time she opened her mouth I cringed.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
ReplyDeleteAlastair/ Chris was phenomenal and he had good chemistry with Dean too.
He was really scary; and I also agree that Lucifer didn't give off the feeling of true evil, even if he was the devil.
Neither does Crowley. His snark is great but maybe because of that, he just doesn't feel as evil either.
Azazel's snark on the other hand really gave one the chills
Lol, don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing the actress but only the way she was portrayed on SPN.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen her in anything else so I can't judge, but I certainly take your word that she is a good actress in other shows. :)
She is a Knight of Hell. She can repair the vessel. Hope so anyway as I loved that actress - she is the only one that doesn't overact the evilness. I hope to see her back in season 9.
ReplyDeleteEven as a Knight of Hell, it does not make sense that she use the same vessel. Why bother when she could take anyone? It's the same issue I have with Anna and Castiel coming back in the same vessels after their bodies were completely disintegrated. Makes no logical sense, which then bugs me and takes away from their scenes.
ReplyDeletePart 2 is up now. I just keep going back until I see it. Because it is a 24 hour poll instead of everything ending at the same time like our SPN polls, the Best Show contest polls will go up at different times throughout the day.
ReplyDeleteShe did an excellent job in Motive. She played a killer and I was able to sympathize with her somewhat. Sad the writing didn't allow me to sympathize with her as a vet on SPN.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad about that for her stint on SPN can't have done her any favours, profession -wise.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that she showed her worth elsewhere.
I just hope they never bring her back to SPN though, not as Amelia at least.
Ellen got my vote. Loved her. After they killed her and Jo off, I watched for a little while, but then everything started to fall apart for me. Haven't watched the show in about 5 years.
ReplyDeleteI think the backlash at her character will prevent that. Not even Jeremy Carver can be that obtuse about the SPN fandom anymore.
ReplyDeleteUsing a Bobbyism-"Ya think!"
ReplyDeleteFor me a great bad guy needs to make me scared, laugh uncomfortably, and have me intrigued by the sheer genius of his mad schemes. Gross and disgusting don't do it for me although I can see how it makes a villain stand out. Alastair and YED had these in spades although in different amounts. I do agree though that Uriel helped taint the angels for me so that I wanted them all gone halfway through season 4.
ReplyDeleteBest character entrance ever. I would love to see Death back too since his character always means that scene is going to blow me away. He just has that presence. I also love how everyone is cow tailed by him.
ReplyDeleteAlastair just oozed menace, even to the way he spoke. Even seeing the actor elsewhere, I immediately get chills and uncomfortable. That was some powerful acting.
ReplyDeleteFor me Crowley is a chameleon. Sometimes he radiates evil and sometimes he doesn't. I find it interesting how he can seem like two totally different characters depending on how they need to use him that season.
ReplyDeleteSeemed to me to be a 48 hour poll, or I was just really looking forward to it and it just seemed to take a long time. ;)
ReplyDeleteI may just have to write this on a calendar and remind you of it..but I had rather be wrong than say I told you so, do not ever want her back unless she is a demon(and she would have made a good one).
ReplyDeleteHe was good on Hell on Wheels also, but I can't see him now without seeing Alastair. For me the best bad guy they have had on SPN.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Hell on Wheels yet. Knowing my Supernatural preferences, do you think I should add it to my to-watch list?
ReplyDeleteShe needn't be a demon. She could have been under Naomi's control or a witch or another evil angel. Anything to explain her character and then get rid of her, if they weren't going to make her sympathetic.
ReplyDeleteHa! The poll itself is 24 hours but it sometimes takes awhile to collate the info and get the next poll up. Plus Adam is in Great Britain so part of our awake time, he is sleeping. You'll just have to be patient. Besides anticipation can be a great thing.
ReplyDeleteI would have go with Dean's, "Thank you Captain Obvious" but Bobby works as well. I will respond with Sam's "It's just an interesting observation in an observationally interesting way."
ReplyDeleteIA - DYL was a very successful and creative way of bringing "Jo" back even though the episode had some non- Jo related issues and I also felt MHWGO was equally clever in bringing "Ellen" back.
ReplyDeleteI liked it, but it would be like comparing apples and oranges. Has some fantastic music with scenes.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I figured him being across the pond was some of the wait.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more w/you. She was completely unlikeable and a complete waste of time. I'm surprised she got any votes at all.
ReplyDeleteCharlie, Mary, Sarah and Meg
ReplyDeleteBela, Ellen and Meg (pre-season 5, because I don't know who that was pretending to be Meg after that point).
ReplyDeleteI think you just gave precedence for her TO come back as Alaina Huffman ... all the angels are doing it, so why not demons? ;D
ReplyDeleteThat's how I felt about Katie Cassidy. I thought she was awful on SPN, but then I saw her in other roles and she's actually quite a good actress.
ReplyDeleteBecause it makes absolutely NO canon sense for angels to be able to do it either, but since no one at all cares about canon on the show these days I'm sure we'll be expected to swallow that she comes back in her burned up body like there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
ReplyDeleteI only watched the first 5 seasons, so I'm not familiar with some of the options.
ReplyDeleteWith Mary, well... we didn't know much about her at first, but Amy Gumenick and the writing for young Mary in 4x03 and 5x13 really won me over.
ReplyDeleteVery true! :) I did make use of it. :)
ReplyDeleteMy three votes:
ReplyDelete1) Jo - first and foremost and FOREVER! because she was awesome and deserved way better than how the show and fandom treated her.
2) Ellen a close second.
3) Sarah was a personal fave of mine. Still bummed they brought her back just to kill her off like that...
Runner Ups:
I also love Mary, Pamela and Meg (though I think Meg 2.0 was a hit and miss on occassion...
ReplyDeleteI mean if even I who had no real connection to her managed to be all "WTF?!" with the sudden OOCness and the abrupt end to her story then I can imagine what it did to people who actually liked her!
Agreed about Lucifer. I was so underwhelmed in S5 by him, but the hallucinations made up for it. Mark's performance and approach to the character is easily the best part of that otherwise crappy ass S7 to me.
ReplyDeleteWhat I liked about Alistair was the continuity and how consistent to the character all the actors were. (It's a claim I'll make about YED too).
ReplyDeleteChalrie is fun and yeah I would have liked her on the list, but I'm not too torn about it.
ReplyDeleteJody is a harder one to swallow though.
(glad Becky is not included at least....)
You know which one of these just bugs the hell out of that I can't bring myself to vote for? Bela...
ReplyDeleteAnd I think I despise in the fact that I loathe Bela, more than I actually hate the character herself.
Pamela!
ReplyDeleteI hate what they did to Meg. I loved her a villian in Season 1. She was really evil and bad ass. Then they had to go and make her a "friend". Let's not forget that Meg killed several of their close hunter friends, kidnapped their father, and caused Bobby to be paralyzed. They should have killed her the first change they got.
ReplyDeleteHa there was two Megs - Meg/with attitude was a blonde with a "Pat Benatar Cut" and Meg/with jokes had dark hair and "ChipMunk Cheeks"!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very good point, I feel the same way.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. No matter what vessel they were in, it was always believable that they were the same demon. That takes a lot coordination since the actors didn't exactly get to talk to each other about their portrayals.
ReplyDeleteI am pro-season 7 for the most part so Lucifer actually being scary was just another plus for me. Before season 7 quite honestly I couldn't understand why so many people raved about his acting because he did absolutely nothing for me but make me roll my eyes and shake my head.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the dead to stay dead and not come back on technicalities but I admit that My Heart Will Go On was a fantastic way to give us more Bobby and Ellen scenes. Kudos all around for that episode.
ReplyDeleteIt's still a sore spot, that's for sure. But after Naomi was introduced, I like to believe that she attempted to reeducate Anna, but she escaped. Still, her mind was damaged and her spirit broken, thus spiraling into madness.
ReplyDeleteThere should be a fic bout it I'd say!
She was also VERY EXPENSIVE and wanted an even higher pay to return for Season 4, so the show gave her the boot.
ReplyDeleteThere were 3 female deaths that just crushed me and made me very upset: Jo and Ellen Harvelle and Sarah Blake.
ReplyDeleteRespectable mentions go to Mary, Jessica, Pamela, Charlie, Ruby Season 4, Anna, Sheriff Jodie Mills and surprisingly Meg.
Oh most definitely. Even with the one that I submitted about the different TV genres, there were a few people who got upset that I included horror under the genre label. It is really tough to try and think about ALL the opinions for the poll.
ReplyDeleteMary Winchester, Ellen Harvelle, Meg, Ruby, Lilith, Abaddon, Ava Wilson, Sheriff Jody Mills, Pamela Barnes (Where is she on this list!???) Jo Harvelle, Anna, and Naomi.
ReplyDeleteUgh it still hurts.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Crowley actually burned.
ReplyDeleteJo, Ellen and Ruby 1.0 (Katie Cassidy) I didn't like ruby 2.0. Amelia shouldn't even be listed here, their are 1 episode characters that where better IMO, Amelia is the worst storyline in character in the show's history
ReplyDeleteI agree season 3 ruby was so much better than the season 4 one, but I was not a fan of bela.
ReplyDeleteSarah blake was a stand alone guest star, so she wouldn't count I don't think.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but she was on the above list, so....
ReplyDelete
