The SpoilerTV Favourite TV Series Competition 2013 - Day 8 - Revenge vs. Spartacus & Desperate Housewives vs. Firefly
24 Jul 2013
2013 TV Series Competition Cancelled Shows RevengeHi folks,
Once again The Walking Dead failed to live up to its status, making it three round one exits out of three. A fantastic turnaround for Leverage puts it into Round two, joining The Mentalist which fairly comfortably walked there.
Today sees three finished shows competing, with Revenge the only current show taking on Spartacus, whilst two cult shows, Desperate Housewives and Firefly do battle in the second poll. I've learnt to always expect sparks when Firefly appears, so keep your eyes open today!
For anyone who missed the rules, here they are again:
1) Two shows will go into battle in a poll, where after exactly 24 hours, the leading show will win the battle and will progress into the next round.
2) Vote for you favourite, spread the word with your friends & fans.
3) Comment on what you voted for on in the comments below.
4) Have fun. This is a friendly & competitive competition.
Here we go...
Revenge vs. Spartacus
Desperate Housewives vs. Firefly
The Draw
Enjoy the battle folks.
Don't forget to Facebook, Tweet, and share the poll with your friends! The more people that you get to vote, the better chance your favourites will win!
Also, make sure you come back tomorrow for the next stage as Beauty & The Beast challenges Bones, whilst Teen Wolf takes on Hannibal.
Here we go,
Adam

ReplyDeleteRevenge and Desperate Housewives for me :)
ReplyDeleteSpartacus and Firefly for me!
ReplyDelete1st Poll: Revenge, I tried watching Spartacus but the blood was a turn-off for me.
ReplyDelete2nd Poll: Desperate Housewives, it was my first guilty pleasure.
Didn't vote in the first one, but Firefly for the second, awesome show!
ReplyDeleteRevenge and Firefly.
ReplyDeleteEasy choices, Revenge and Firefly
ReplyDeleteFirefly!
ReplyDeletewhat Anne replied I cant believe that some one able to profit $8535 in a few weeks on the computer. did you look at this webpage KEP2.com
ReplyDeleteI love Revenge, but Spartacus gets my vote. One of the best shows ever made.
ReplyDeleteRevenge and Firefly, that feels like an odd combination but oh well, may Firefly go far in this competition.
ReplyDeleteSpartacus and Firefly!
ReplyDeleteEasy one, Spartacus and Firefly !
ReplyDeleteSpartacus and Firefly..
ReplyDeleteDoesn't like look Spartacus is going to win though.
Go Firefly.
ReplyDeleteRevenge & Desperate Housewives
ReplyDeleteRevenge, my favorite show just behind Fringe.
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen either Firefly nor DH, so I won't vote there
No opinion on the first poll, so abstained, and Firefly all the way in the second! Definitely one of the best shows ever made.
ReplyDeleteRevenge and Firefly!
ReplyDeleteDH for me, as I haven't yet seen Firefly
ReplyDeleteRevenge and Firefly for me.
ReplyDeleteSpartacus and Firefly
ReplyDeleteHow can I pick anything over Firefly
ReplyDeleteAnd Revenge. that's just a really fun trashy soap.
eventho i love spartacus, revenge is my choice!
ReplyDeleteRevenge and Firefly
ReplyDeletepretty easy for me today - I liked the first half of S1 of Revenge, but kinda got tired so Spartacus in that race, and Firefly but a long mile in the second...
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely watch Firefly. It is only 14 episodes plus the movie (Serenity) made a few years later. So few people knew it existed when it was airing, so it got canceled mid-season. When it came out on dvd people discovered it and it became an instant cult classic (which is why the movie got made).
ReplyDeleteI know about Firefly, I have all the episodes in my computer waiting for me. The thing is that, sometimes, it is really hard to start a new show, despite knowing how acclaimed it is, because I still have to catch up with plenty of other stuff too. For instance; just recently I started watching Parks and Recreation and I am about to catch up with S5, so I'm not really thinking on watching Firefly right now, though I'll certainly do it soon
ReplyDeleteI can completely understand that. I am currently rushing to watch all of Supernatural before all the new genre shows start in a couple months. By mid-October I expect to be watching so many live shows as to have no time for catching up on old ones (and I have a long list of shows I want to catch up on).
ReplyDeleteI don't really understand how people can watch the same show over and over again when there are so great shows to be watched for the first time. As a kid I watched tons of reruns, but that was only because there was no other option.
Firefly
ReplyDeleteRevenge is one of my favorite shows currently airing so it easily gets the first one; I've seen the first three or four episodes of Spartacus but really disliked it - not my cup of tea at all. No votes on the second one - I have watched some random episodes of both and liked both for what is worth, but I don't have enough of an opinion to vote there.
ReplyDeleteI have this issue as well. Right now, I watch so many shows during the regular season that I don't have time to finish the season caught up in all of them. I do get caught up in the summer but I don't have that much time to watch new shows. I have a lot of pilots waiting for me all the time but it is really hard to find the time.
ReplyDeleteOnly Revenge for me. I have only seen the first half of the first season but I understand why people find it addictive.
ReplyDeleteI watched Firefly a few years ago because of all the hype it got in the Best Show contest. My advice is to not go into it with really high expectations. It's a good show but I think I went in with a "believe the hype" mentality, which ultimately made me disappointed. I think I would have liked it better had I gone in with more realistic expectations.
ReplyDeleteHappy that Spartacus managed to get enough votes to get into the competition, sadly it'll lose already.
ReplyDeleteThe other one of course Firefly!
Good advice for watching any show. The lower your expectations are, the more likely you will be pleasantly surprised. Of course, without the hype, you may have never watched it.
ReplyDeleteI'm having the same problem with Supernatural right now. I'm mostly enjoying the show, but just not seeing why it won this competition twice.
Kind of mad that the mess Revenge is beating Spartacus, which had some of the best characters on television
ReplyDeleteI think you are quite right, it's never good to start watching something with expectations way too high. For instance, my expectations for POI were incredibly high and it backfired when the show premiere; I hated it. I've been told it got good, but right now I don't want to get into it. Since then, I try to approach every show catously optimistic at best, and it has worked out pretty great thus far
ReplyDeleteRevenge and Firefly today, no contest.
ReplyDeleteHa! It is a double-edged sword. Not enough hype = no viewers. Too much hype = disappointed viewers.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural is not for everyone as genre shows tend to have a hit-or-miss appeal. For instance, I don't know how anyone could watch The Walking Dead after the first season. It was so mindnumbingly slow to me that watching it made watching paint dry a viable option for me. However I know people who greatly prefer TWD to SPN. I guess it's all in what you watch genre for.
As for SPN winning twice, that is ALL in the fandom. Supernatural fans learned very quickly that if they were going to keep Supernatural on the air, especially when the head of the network disdained it, they would have to do the promoting themselves. It became a mantra in the fandom to win online polls to show the cast and crew how much they were appreciated since the network was never going to. By the time the TV Guide cover and STV's Best Show contests came along, Supernatural had the best organized fandom with the capability to reach other fans extremely quickly. It's why they won almost every online poll for years. To be honest, the 24 hour nature of these polls really helps SPN and other well-organized fandoms. If each poll were open for 2 weeks with still only 1 vote per IP, it is less certain that Supernatural would have won. As always, this contest is not won by the favorite show but by which show has the best organized fandom.
Currently I am trying to tamp down my expectations for Sleepy Hollow, SHIELD, and Tomorrow People for the same reasons. I understand how high expectations killed your enjoyment of PoI. I really enjoy it but it isn't appointment TV for me. If you do pick it back up, you should probably go in thinking that it is another police procedural. Despite what its diehard fans say, its procedural elements outweigh its genre elements even in season 2. There is of course an overarching mythology to the show and there is definitely sci-fi aspects but a lot of it is still PiP of the week.
ReplyDeleteRevenge and Firefly for me. Still mad at Fox for screwing up Firefly.
ReplyDeleteAnother problem for Firefly was Fox that ran the eps out of order. The DVD shows them the way they were meant to be shown.
ReplyDeleteSame! I have Firefly ready to go and I want to watch it but I'm watching 8 shows during the summer already =P.
ReplyDeleteVoted Firefly! Though I have yet to watch it (don't worry I will!), Joss Whedon and Nathan Fillion get my vote!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on this one. I read the hype on Supernatural and I really enjoy the show, but i'm now in Season 8 and it's a lot of reused plot points, ect. It should have ended in Season 5 as it was originally planned.
