Thanks to Alejandra for sending us the following.
According to the tweet of Jordan Alan, husband of Amanda Righetti. Is the last season of The Mentalist or Amanda Righetti (Van Pelt) leaves the show?
for my beautiful wife, congrats on her final season. now she can have opportunities to show her amazing talent

Sounds like Amanda's final season, not the show's.
ReplyDeleteThe reason I'm thinking it's the show: it makes sense with where we're at (both in terms of the storyline and ratings) and I just can't see him dropping such a huge spoiler, cause that's what it is.
ReplyDeleteI think it's Amanda's final season because if it were the shows', they would already have declared. Van Pelt may be killed by Red John, that could be the reason for her exit.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the whole cult storyline, i'd say its more likely just her final show.
ReplyDeletei think VP leaves because of her relationship with Rigsby:)
ReplyDeleteI'm fine if its both.
ReplyDeleteNot necessarily. This could be him letting it slip. The crew/cast will find out before anyone else, certainly before we do, so she would tell her husband. That makes more sense to me than him leaking what is clearly a massive spoiler.
ReplyDeleteAs you said, if it's true, it's a massive spoiler not to be announced (especially via twitter) before the shows' crew or network does. That's why I think it's about Amanda's exit :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a HUGE bombshell.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like Amanda's final season. I took him saying "now she can have opportunities to show her talent" as a diss to the show for not giving her more material.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds a bit ungrateful, it's like pissing in the fountain you drank water from.
ReplyDelete"amazing talent" ? For now, meh! She may develop in the course of time.
ReplyDeleteOr Van Pelt and Rigsby decide to make their relationship public and she leaves the team.
ReplyDeleteThat also makes sense :)
ReplyDeleteHehe :). Yes,and it's better than being killed by RJ. XD
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree, I don't like the tone he used in that tweet...
ReplyDeleteI would definitely prefer that.
ReplyDeleteIf it would be the final season I would like that. Hear me out. If they're going to keep the Red John story going to the end of the series, which only makes sense with how long it has been ongoing, I'd like it wrapped up this season.
ReplyDeletei don't like how he said it too... it felt like The Mentalist stopped Amanda's career and treated her like nothing, but actually I can see her growing during those 5 seasons. She's getting better because of this show. It's so disrespectful to TM :(
ReplyDeleteI understand you, but Bruno and Robin talked about the show going on after they kill Red John.
ReplyDeleteYes there's still hope for a season 7.
ReplyDeleteMore likely she's decided not to renew her contract which is fine by me. I like VP but she's the character that can be lifted out the most to be honest.
ReplyDeleteDon't really care, because for me The Mentalist ended with season 3. :)
ReplyDeleteThen what are you doing commenting on a spoiler for the show you don't care about?
ReplyDeleteHow could he possibly say such major spoiler!
ReplyDeleteNo, I mean the other way around. Leaking Amanda's exit is more of spoiler than leaking that it's the shows final season for me. Final seasons are often announced before they begin, in fact that's the best way to go about it. However, with a character prematurely leaving a show, that brings up actual plot spoilers in that we know she's likely to leave for whatever reason, or even die.
ReplyDeleteAmanda's contract is 7 years, just like the others.
ReplyDeleteActors can get out of their contracts. Two examples: TR Knight and Katherine Heigl did on Grey's Anatomy
ReplyDeleteThey can, I just meant it won't be her not renewing it, as it doesn't even need renewing at this point.
ReplyDeleteat first i thought maybe this wasn't really her husband's twitter i mean his background pic is hayley scott from one tree hill. guess he's a fan. I just think that poor Van Pelt will be a victim of RJ. seems like he would've known not to tweet this or maybe he thought no one watched his twitter. LOL i don't know.
ReplyDeleteActually, it's also true. Giving this spoiler so early is also a big mistake.
ReplyDeleteThanks but they are right, she can get out of it. Especially if it means cutting the budget in this case.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that there was a deal during the fourth season with CBS to give the show two more seasons plus it seems like a lot of the cast feels that once RJ is caught the show should end. Personally I would like to see a post RJ Patrick Jane even if only for a year. I'd hate to lose Van Pelt but I would rather it only be her and not the entire show.
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised of both news either from final season of mentalist or for Amanda. Since the show continued so much not every actor wants to be in the show for a huge amount of time.
ReplyDeleteIf they do that then I'd be up for that.
ReplyDeleteif you can say that then i can say this.....
ReplyDeleteIt ain't our fault you went and got pregnant, making you useless for any great out of the desk scenes...
Sounds like Amanda's final season :)
ReplyDeleteThe tweet has been deleted.
ReplyDelete@IlenaOB We've added a screenshot of the original Tweet.
ReplyDeleteI don't like his tone. I really hope she stays!
ReplyDeleteI hope Amanda stays. Rigspelt must go on.
ReplyDeleteIsn't the last season, because Simon have a contract for seven seasons!
ReplyDeleteRigsby is Red John :D
ReplyDeleteMe too. I love VP and would hate to see her leave the show, but I hope it's not the show ending for sure. I think they're working like it is the last season, story-telling-wise, but they're open to more from what I've read. I don't know if anyone knows for sure it's their final season. Unless, they found out bts very recently and are keeping it on the DL. But I hope not. I'd rather Amanda leave, of her own volition and be happy. I also don't want to lose my favorite show. VP wasn't around a lot last season so I know I could still enjoy the show. They had a great season 5. And if she leaves I'd hope it's not that she's killed. I'd rather her leave because of her relationship with Rigsby too. Especially for the VP fans out there, and the VP/Rigs shippers.
ReplyDeleteThat sort of made me think that too. That he was saying she hadn't really had the opportunity. IDK, last season at the 100th episode bash, in her interviews she made a comment like she wasn't sure she'd stay around. Like it depended on what they had planned for VP or something. I remember her saying it and it surprised me. She wasn't malicious about it or anything, of course, but it surprised me e cause she seemed ambivalent about staying. Him saying that reminded me of the interview.
ReplyDeleteThat would be hysterical!
ReplyDeleteThat has NOTHING to do with it. All actors sign their contracts as a possibility- if the network pulls the plug, a show can be over after three episodes no matter for how many seasons the actors have signed.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I believe that season 6 will be the last, too.
Tbh this looks like more of CBS's crappy treatment of their actresses. They cut Cote de Pablo (NCIS) loose over salary disputes and I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped Amanda as well to save money. They've been pulling these moves for the last few years; they tried to get rid of AJ Cook/Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds), eventually succeeded with the latter, and also ousted Melina Kanakaredes (CSI: NY) as well as Liz Vassey (original CSI).
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately it seems like business as usual for CBS :(
Could that not be read a different way - that in her last season she has more material and therefore opportunity to shine? That's actually the way I read it rather than as a diss to the show it was a thank you for a wonderful last season maybe?
ReplyDeletei love the mentalist, but please let it be the last, way better than being cancelled..
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm good either way.
ReplyDeleteI've never been huge on VanPelt. I find her mostly annoying, so if she leaves I won't feel the loss too much.
OR
I can see this being the show's last season. In fact, personally, in terms of where the story is I would prefer it.
Wait and see I guess.
She's decent, but more often than not, I just find her very dry....
ReplyDeleteDoesnt mean its the last. LE left House at the end of the penuiltimate season, David Duchovny left The X-Files (granted, it sucked after and they had to bring him back) but its not unheard of for a main player to jump ship before the series has had its run
ReplyDeleteTalk about Van Pelt's bad dating luck.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't think he necessarily meant it that way, but he could certainly have phrased it better. I don't see how the show held her back in any way. I never understand it when people become bitter about having played a long-term, beloved character on a popular show.
ReplyDeleteIDK, the guide says the final chapter. I hope it's not the end. And I hope Lisben isn't dead in an oven. :/
ReplyDeleteshe could be red john.
