Another DC Comics male superhero is looking to join the CW’s lineup. I’ve learned that the network is fast tracking Flash, a drama project based on the DC character from the Arrow team of co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg and director David Nutter. The CW is expected to discuss the project at today’s TCA presentation. I hear there is an idea is to introduce The Flash on Arrow next season before spinning his off into his own series.

Sure, why not, if done right. I like Arrow a lot and I actually liked smallville too. But there's one thing I don't get. Arrow is supposed to be grounded, there are no superpowers in the show. So how are they going to introduce Flash there?
ReplyDeleteNo. Please don't bring The Flash onto Arrow. I have appreciated not having meta-humans on it. The show may not be 100% realistic, but introducing meta-humans would just reduce the quality and story-telling.
ReplyDeletesounds good. hope it happens and is as epic as arrow!
ReplyDeleteMaybe they will present the character before becoming a superhero, and the spin-off will start just with his transformation
ReplyDeleteI don't really think it is necessary to introduce the Flash on Arrow. A show about him will do just fine without it being a spin-off of Arrow.
ReplyDeleteI'm expecting a lot of these announcements to start coming out in the leadup to the Justice League movie... but why Flash? Isn't he getting his own entire movie? Why not Green Lantern, or Wonder Woman, or the Martian Manhunter? OK, granted, two of those ideas were terrible, but it makes more sense than Flash.
ReplyDeleteWow seems like Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg are stretching themselves thin.
ReplyDeleteThe CW is also probably involved, it's no coincidence that both Supernatural and VD got spin offs and there's going to be another superhero series by Arrow creators.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. One of the best things about Arrow is that the characters are fully human but not genetically enhanced humans.
ReplyDeleteI know next to nothing about the Flash, except he runs really fast, but more genre on the CW seems like a very good thing. I am hoping that they hit it big with these sequels because they are running out of time to save the entire network. Having big name projects like this will definitely help. Just no superpowers on Arrow please. Either find a way to make this character technologically enhanced or pair it with Arrow but not have him on Arrow.
ReplyDeleteI hope it's Wally West (probably not), I really miss him in the New 52.
ReplyDeleteSounds like it is definitely being created for the CW if they plan to have the character in Arrow in order to jump start this project. I doubt they would start the character on the CW and then move him to CBS or something. However if SHIELD becomes very popular on ABC who knows what kind of superhero shows we will see on other channels next season.
ReplyDeleteExactly, but other networks might be interested in these projects if they do well like Arrow has been for the CW.
ReplyDeleteArrow would have to do considerably better ratings wise next year for any other network to be impressed. The real test will be seeing how SHIELD does. Arrow on any other network would be cancelled by now.
ReplyDeleteBy CW's standards, it's good enough for them. We don't know exactly how well it would've done on another network, but yes, Shield is a test for the big networks.
ReplyDeleteit the series gets trough im already seeing an special episode between arrow and flash and i dont want that, not having people with weird superpowers is what makes it kind of diferent
ReplyDeleteI think it may be too late to introduce superpowers in Arrow, especially after they made a big deal about being a separate universe with no metas. I hope this doesn't change the look or feel of the show.
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer an un-powered Barry on Arrow. Have leave town in his final episode and in his first episode on his own show he gains powers. Keep Barry on to his own show and never show or mention him again on Arrow.
Why does DC keep trying to make The Flash happen? The only character I can think of with less appeal for a live action series would be Aquaman.
ReplyDeleteI loved Arrow's more realistic approach ala Nolan's Batman trilogy, I'm not sure if a superhuman could work on a show like this. They might be better off just having him introduced on his own show and keep them separated.
ReplyDeleteBy CW standards it is fantastic. Best new show in years.
ReplyDeletean arrow spinoff? already? if it has the same great writing that arrow does, i completely agree. although they did say that arrow wouldnt have supes for a while, they wanted it to stay "human" for a bit before bringing in the big guns. seems like the exact opposite now. unless they cast usain bolt as the flash.
ReplyDeleteI disagree about the Flash. I think he has potential.
ReplyDeleteAquaman on the other hand I can't argue with...
I like the ides of doing the Flash... I'm not sure it should be an Arrow spin off though....
ReplyDeleteUpon looking through this topic, I'd say you're in good company. The majority of posters seem to disagree with me as well. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's about time they did a Flash series, been waiting for that, since Smallville....idk if I want it spinning off from Arrow, but hey whatever gets it going, I'm good with that.
