The Carrie Diaries has found its Samantha Jones.
Carrie Bradshaw’s outspoken “try-sexual” friend will be played by newcomer Lindsey Gort.
Even in the above publicity photo that’s not from the show, Gort looks pretty similar to a young Kim Cattrall — who played Samantha on HBO’s Sex and the City. Gort beat out several other actress contending for the part.
In the second season of The CW soap, Carrie will meet Samantha “through a surprising connection,” say producers, who describe Samantha as “a ballsy, beautiful and sexy young woman from the panhandle of Florida who has made her way — and already a name for herself — in the rock ’n’ roll scene of 1980s NYC.”
