As we go into round 3, I just want to remind folks that this round will be sporadic, appearing whenever the SpoilerTV Favorite Show contest takes a break. Check back at STV every day so you don't miss anything. Let's also take a moment to mourn my favorite quote "No chick flick moments" which barely lost by 8 votes. Other very close races were Dean's "Eat me" to the Benders and Sam telling Dean to use his upstairs brain, which lost by 7 votes. It was a sad day for me. Here's hoping round 3 is better. For this round we will be taking it 8 polls at a time, with long quotes dominating today's. Happy voting!
Quotes Too Long for the Contest:

Where'd dad go? I mean he'd take off for days at a time. I remember I begged you, "Quit asking Sammy. Man you don't want to know." I just wanted you to be a kid just for a little while longer. I was trying to protect you, keep you safe. Dad didn't even have to tell me. It was just always my responsibility you know. It's like I had one job…I had one job, and I screwed it up. I blew it…and for that I'm sorry. I guess that's what I do. I let down the people I love. I let dad down and now I guess I'm just supposed to let you down too. How can I? 1. I love both these quotes and will probably vote for Bobby calling them morons if the journal quote is winning by a lot. However I think the journal quote goes all the way because it definitely is the quote that mostly sums up Supernatural to me - the Winchesters saving people, hunting things, together as heroes.
ReplyDelete2. These are both great quotes so I'll give it to the one more likely to lose - "You're bossy…and short."
3. "Poke her with a stick" has no shot in here but I really hope it wins. The other one is far, far too long.
4. No question for me. Big Brother Dean all the way and for me to vote against a funny one is shocking.
5. Yikes, this one is hard, but I love that scene in Phantom Traveler a lot more than the one in Heart. Plus, Metallica. That's so Dean.
6. It's another battle of the long What is and What Should Never Be quotes and this one is a no-brainer for me. The cryfest that is the graveside speech is the only thing that knocks WiaWSNB off its perfect episode ledge. It's way too emoangsty and I wish it had been knocked off earlier. Instead it is going to knock off one of the few long quotes I actually wish would go far. The brother conversation is vastly superior because it gets to the heart without having to delve into melodrama. To have a Sam, that knows nothing about the supernatural and who doesn't even like Dean, volunteer to go with his brother "just cuz" shows the power of the brother relationship even in this strange, alternate universe. It is Sam saying that Dean's his brother and he's not going to let him face his troubles alone even if he doesn't understand. It's the heart of the show - Winchesters together no matter the odds. How does it get better than this?
7. If we have to have long and emoangsty, this is the quote I want to make it all the way. I never did like the unicorns quote.
8. I like both so when in doubt I default to brothers. I love how Sam is being heartfelt and Dean is well, typical Dean.
Lots of great quotes today but for most of them I was voting in the minority. Can't believe so few votes for the unicorn quote. That's one of my all time faves!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's still early in the contest so there is room for things to go in your favor. Once they polls end I would expect you will be happier than I will. I would say though that the unicorn one is not likely to move on. It goes against one of the best brother speeches of the whole series in a scene everyone remembers. I will end up voting for the anti-Claus one too simply because it has no shot of winning this.

3-2 I love the playthings quote,Bossy and short. What's not to like!:)
3-3) 'Poke her with a stick' can never not be funny and while I actually agree with Dean's Yellow Fever speech, one of the few things I like about that episode, it's just a bit too long for a quote.

The other one, just no.

I like them both but rock, scissors has become a classic; I love how it was reversed in the Titanic alt. universe.
3-6) I love how alterate Sam is already beginning to relate better to his brother. I'm sure Dean would have conquered his affection in the end. :)
3-7) How can one resist Dean's speech over Sam's dead body. It's just. beautiful and so heartfelt.
Beats unicorns any day even those complerte with rainbows!
3-8) THis is one of my top quotes too. i just love it.

Brothers beat cell phones any day but even if it doesn't make it through, it still remains awesome. :)
Family Business is the quote that pretty much started it all, Drunk Sam beats Drunk Cas for me, the Stick scene really showed how funny Jared which we really don't see often, Dean's Croatoan moment just because it's awesome, I kind of wish they bring up the Scissors thing more often, Dean's graveside scene because I always felt his relationship was second in importance only to the relationship with his brother, Dean's speech in All Hell Breaks Loose because it proves the aforementioned point, I don't really have opinion on the last two so I'll go with the Something Wicked. I also notice that the majority of these quotes match up, like two drunk quotes competing against each other.

I am very surprised Metallica is winning right now but I am glad that it is. There are several choices where I would like both quotes to move on as well. I think that is going to be the motto from here on out.
ReplyDeleteSorry you are not feeling well. I hope it gets better. I think the "morons" quote would have gone a whole lot farther but it is up against the most nominated quote of the whole contest.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the rankings randomly give us interesting parallels like the two drunk quotes. In round one we had 2 quotes about Dean's love for pie against each other.
ReplyDeleteSo many great quotes gone already. It is disappointing. "No chick flick moments" is my favorite quote of all. The worst thing about today's polls is that several of my favorite quotes are going to be kicked out again. I adore Alt-Sam telling Dean that he has his back and like you I am positive they would have grown close if they had more time. No one can resist Dean charm for very long. I hate that it will be beaten by a long, emoangsty, boo hoo fest to John. Equally painful will be the Something Wicked quote losing. It is such a beautiful brother moment with Sam apologizing for getting on Dean's case in season 1 and Deqn quickly ending the chick flick moment. It is so much the brothers that I'm sorry "almost out of minutes" is going to beat it even if that is one of my favorite Cas lines. At least Dean grieving over Sam will likely beat the unicorns, since that one has never been a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteI thought the first poll this time was the toughest because I really want both quotes to move on. Drunk Sam is always a riot and the Croatoan quote is one of my favorite serious Dean quotes too. I also like the Yellow Fever quote but like you I think it is way, way too long. I am looking forward to when it gets booted so the posts can be half the size and load faster. The best thing about rock-paper-scissors to me is the way they revered it. That was a great inside joke for fans that had seen every episode. A beautiful little Easter egg.

Daphne, not sure if you check your notifications since it's been about a week since this Poll. But the comment I was referring to was that I asked if anyone has ever did a Favorite Opening Title Poll. Where every season the Title Card, Supernatural, changes to something different? If not, there should be one! :)
