LOS ANGELES, July 24, 2013 – FX launches the sixth season of its award-winning, top-rated drama Sons Of Anarchy on September 10 at 10 PM ET/PT with a special 90-minute episode and will continue to run on Tuesdays at 10 PM. The series is an adrenalized drama with darkly comedic undertones that explores a notorious Outlaw motorcycle club’s (MC) desire to protect its livelihood while ensuring that their simple, sheltered town of Charming, California remains exactly that, charming. The MC must confront threats from drug dealers, corporate developers, and overzealous law officers. Behind the MC’s familial lifestyle and legally thriving automotive shop is a ruthless and illegal arms business driven by the seduction of money, power, and blood.

Jackson ‘Jax’ Teller (Charlie Hunnam) is SAMCRO’s new President who must face the consequences of the MC’s illicit deeds before they tear the club apart. Gemma Teller-Morrow (Katey Sagal) is Jax’s formidable mother. Clarence ‘Clay’ Morrow (Ron Perlman) is Jax’s stepfather, the last of the Original Nine and former President. Dr. Tara Knowles (Maggie Siff) is Jax’s old lady and mother of his second son.

Having framed Clay for the murder of Damon Pope, Season Six begins with Jax’s leadership uncontested, but his family life suffering from his single-minded pursuit of John Teller’s vision. Jax must find a way to keep Tara from going to prison for conspiracy to commit murder while rebuilding his club and breaking from the cycle of violence and greed that ultimately led to his best friend’s death.

Sons Of Anarchy’s season five notched its most viewers to date, continuing the show’s run as the highest–rated program in the history of FX. In Total Viewers, the show captured an average of 6.4 million and in Adults 18-49, it averaged 4.4 million viewers.

  1. That's not surprising. Every season premiere of Sons of Anarchy has been 90 minutes long.

  2. SoA rules, it's one of the biggest rated series on cable, Kurt Sutter does what he wants, and FX is so awesome that they've allowed him to have six 90-minute episodes last season : the season premiere and the last five episodes, if I remember correctly ; he also got a fourteenth episode in season 4 because he needed one. Therefore, this doesn't come as a surprise.

If he feels like doing 90-minute episodes all season long (which means 60 minutes of actual content), I'm pretty sure FX would agree. This far, The Bridge got 90-minute episodes too, meaning episode 1.01 has 63 minutes of content and episode 1.02 has 53 minutes of content instead of the usual 43.

Can't wait to see what's next for SAMCRO. We're coming closer to the end, and with season 7 being quite possibly the final season, the year 2014 will mark the end of an era for FX, with the end of its two veterans, Sons of Anarchy and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

  3. FX is truly an awesome network, quality wise I would argue it has the best shows over HBO.
