Scene Of The Week - July 28, 2013 - *POLL*

28 Jul 2013

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great scenes that we've seen recently.

BURN NOTICE, "Psychological Warfare", July 25, 2013, Actors: Jeffrey Donovan, Sharon Gless
The Scene: Michael talks to his mom about his abusive father
A Dahne:
Michael tells his mom that living through times with his abusive father made him strong enough to survive as a spy. Mother-son scenes on BN are usually intense but this one combined tenderness and a shocking revelation.

COVERT AFFAIRS, "Dig For Fire", July 23, 2013, Actors: Kari Matchett, Peter Gallagher
The Scene: Joan confronts Arthur
Klutzy Girl:
Joan confronts Arthur about his "affair" and then reveals she's pregnant when she heads to the bathroom. That was a great scene and and an awesome reveal.
Diana Mack: Joan confronts Arthur telling him she knows her husband better than anyone so he couldn't have an affair without leaving a trace. Then he said he has a child (Teo). Joan goes to the bathroom and reveals she's pregnant leaving Arthur speechless.

DEXTER, "Scar Tissue", July 21, 2013, Actors: Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, C. S. Lee, Madison Burge
The Scenes: Masuka's meets his daughter & Deb saves Dexter
DarkUFO:
Masuka's meets his daughter Nikki. Lots of LOL's.
Darth Locke: Deb saves Dexter after attempting suicide & murder on her and Dexter's lives by grabbing the wheel of Dexter's car and having them crash into the water!
I love this scene not only because this is most likely Deb hitting rock bottom, in which she can finally start being honest with herself, but also there's a little bit of irony here, as attempt to kill herself and Dexter is similar to how the people died in Debra's current house!

FALLING SKIES, "Strange Brew", July 21, 2013, Actors: Noah Wyle, Will Patton
The Scene: Tom breaks down in his old house & Tom shoots Dan in the "alt universe"
Justyna Kubica:
First of all, Falling Skies is a very interesting show, if you ask me. Some people love it and some people love to hate it. In my case, I don't really tend to focus on every little detail so I'm just enjoying things one week at the time and I like it this way. In this last episode we got to see a glimpse of Tom's past (sort of) and meet his departed wife, Rebecca. But the most emotional part came right at the very end, when Tom found himself in his old house in Boston. And what a heartbreaking view that was! Especially when he had to say goodbye to his lost love or rather just her echo, a memory that was keeping him there. Letting go is probably one of the hardest things to do and I felt so sorry for this poor man. Kudos to the great performance by Noah Wyle in this scene!
Sharon Seymour: Tom shoots Dan in the "alt universe".

GRACELAND, "Goodbye High", July 25, 2013, Actors: Daniel Sunjata, Gbenga Akinnagbe
The Scene: Briggs reveals that he's Odin
A Dahne:
Briggs reveals that he is the heroin dealer Odin. It was probably the biggest shock on TV the summer and set up the rest of the series well.
Justyna Kubica: That's one of my picks too. If only because of the shock factor! I so didn't see this one coming! The series seems to keep getting better, certainly never ceases to surprise me. And right now, I honestly have no idea how I feel about Briggs' character, is he a good guy (as in, for example, is Odin just a deep, deep cover) or a bad guy... Considering the fact that I'm pretty sure that our confusion was exactly what creators wanted to achieve, just wanted to say: well done, guys! Really, well done.

LUTHER, "Episode 4", July 23, 2013, Actors: Ruth Wilson, Sienna Guillory
The Scene: Alice rescues Mary from Marwood
Sandi wich:
Alice rescues Mary from Marwood, without breaking into a sweat. She really should have been used more this season in my opinion, love her character.

MELISSA AND JOEY, "Something Happened", July 24, 2013, Actors: Melissa Joan Hart, Joey Lawrence
The Scene: Joe calls Lennox "his little girl"
Klutzy Girl:
After Lennox and Zander break up, Joe decides to go after him and refers to Lennox as "his little girl" during a conversation with Mel. That scene was adorable and also shows this family has come a long way. He and Mel are 100% those kids' parents now and it was just a sweet comment.

PERCEPTION, "Caleidoscope", July 23, 2013, Actors: Eric McCormack, Kelly Rowan, Robbie Sublett
The Scene: Daniel gets Dr. Newsome to treat Jeremy in the virtual world
A Dahne:
The whole premise was interesting but I loved the way Daniel got Jeremy the treatment he needed.

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, "Crash and Burn, Girl!", July 23, 2013, Actors: Tyler Blackburn, Keegan Allen
The Scene: Caleb and Toby team up against the airport guy
Jamie Coudeville:
It's nice to see the boys in action. I hope we get more scenes like this.

RAY DONOVAN, "Black Cadillac", July 21, 2013, Actor: Jon Voight
The Scene: Micky goes dancing at The Buggy Whip (picked by Darth Locke)

RIZZOLI AND ISLES, "Dance with the Devil", July 23, 2013, Actors:
The Scene: Hope and Jane comfort Maura
Jamie Coudeville:
I really hope they keep Hope around, I like her dynamic with Maura. I also loved that Maura said she ate all the cookies.
Klutzy Girl: That was a nice, sweet scene.

SUITS, "I Want You to Want Me", July 23, 2013, Actors: Patrick J. Adams, Rick Hoffman, Gabriel Macht
The Scene: Mike and Louis in the mud tanks & Mike and Harvey make up
Diana Mack:
All the scenes between Mike and Louis were funny, but I'll choose one of my favorites: Louis laying naked in a mud tank, and then jump off of it revealing his frontal nudity which traumatized Mike!
Justyna Kubica: I was waiting so impatiently to see Mike and Harvey stop fighting and get back to working together and then... Louis showed up and changed it. I mean, I'm glad the worst seems to be over between the two (for now, I guess?) but the look on Litt's face and throwing away the cake... that was so incredibly sad. Especially since I've always loved his relationship with Mike. These two work so well together and I was really happy that they're getting more screen time and now it looks like that was pretty much it. We're back to arguing with Louis, huh? Again. Didn't we almost have it all? Anyway, I absolutely loved all Mike and Louis scenes in the episode and I simply can't decide which one was the best.

TEEN WOLF, "Visionary", July 22, 2013, Actors: Ian Nelson, Madison McLaughlin
The Scene: Derek kills Paige
Jamie Coudeville:
I'm glad we finally got Derek's backstory. This story was so sad, definitely made me see him in a different light.
Diana Mack: A desperate Derek kills Paige. His past was a struggling story; it was really a touching moment.

THE BRIDGE, "Rio", July 24, 2013, Actor: Diane Kruger
The Scene: Sonya meets her one night stand at the police station
DarkUFO:
Sonya meets her one night stand at the police station and greets him with "We can't have sex at work" - LOL.

THE KILLING, "Reckoning", July 21, 2013, Actors: Mireille Enos, Joel Kinnaman
The Scene: Holder breaks down after Bullet is found dead
Sharon Seymour:
Holder breaks down after Bullet is found dead.
DarkUFO: Same as Sharon with Holder and Linden in the aftermath of Bullet being killed.

TRUE BLOOD, "Don't You Feel Me", July 21, 2013, Actors: Stephen Moyer, Arliss Howard
The Scene: Bill rips off Governor Burrell's head (picked by Darth Locke)

UNDER THE DOME, "Blue on Blue", July 22, 2013, Actors: Dean Norris, Ned Bellamy
The Scene: Big Jim kills the Reverend
Sharon Seymour:
Big Jim kills the Reverend by pushing his head against the dome so his hearing aid explodes.

I have to admit that this week it was very hard for me to choose just 3 scenes. Lots of honorable mentions for some scenes in Covert Affairs, True Blood, Suits, Teen Wolf and probably something that I'm missing right now ;)

  2. Agreed! There were at least 3 scenes from both Dexter and True Blood that I struggled with!

  4. Usually Teen Wolf gets my vote in these, but this week's episode was weak on action and inspired more great moments than scenes for me. The shocking twists were on USA Network instead. Graceland threw me for a major loop. I had just finished tweeting my prediction to the show runner when the revelation that Briggs is Odin came on screen. Very few things in TV surprise me anymore so to have something so shocking and yet so perfectly in line with clues the show had given us was the surprise of the season. Well done Graceland writers.

  5. I voted for Dexter's last scene. it reminded me of Lost's Charlie driving himself and Desmond into the water, in order to communicate him an ulterior truth.

  6. Switched at Birth: I don't know why but I think one of my favorite scenes from this week was when Bay voice her opinion on what Angelo should do about the baby. I'm a bit undecided as to who I want to side with since both made good points about the situation.

The Fosters: I got a big kick out of Stef and Lena's ex bonding, so to speak, over a mutual interest (a.k.a. Lena). I felt kinda bad for Lena, though.

  7. I really like the bromance in PLL. They should do that again before Caleb moves to Ravenswood. They made an excellent job.

  9. I just got paid
$6784 working off my laptop this month. And if you think that's cool, my
divorced friend has twin toddlers and made over $9k her first month. It feels
so good making so much money when other people have to work for so much less.

  10. Voted for both Suits, I felt so sorry for Louis, but not near as bad if I had not heard him firing someone, glad Mike and Harvey have made up.
Teen Wolf for the 3rd one.

I agree. I'm not usually a big fan of flashback episodes. They're usually just okay for me. Like with this last episode of Teen Wolf. But I can't for the new one. It looks pretty awesome ;)

  12. Very much looking forward to tonight's episode. I am excited to find out who Darach is and see if it aligns at all with my predictions. It probably won't but it has been a lot of fun guessing. I am a huge fan of answers and this episode promises to give them to us.
