  1. I think the rain was alittle too convenient. But it was an okay ep.

  2. Random thoughts.I thought it was awesome. The explanation that the dome is sentient works for me. How very King--cars talk, cell phones attack, domes answer needs. Why not? Did the dome come into existence as a way to protect Chester's Mill, then? I'm sad about Rose (Beth Broderick, aka Kate Austen's mother, working in a diner again). I'm happy about Angie, I think. Big Jim will give her anything she needs as long she doesn't talk about what Junior did, but what if she does? Then what will Jim do? Interesting about Joe and Norrie, and I'm glad someone knows their secret. I'm anxious for Joe and Angie to see each other again. I don't mind at all that Barbie beat up that butthead looter. Did anyone else think the town's accent suddenly changed for a while, and people were talking all southern?

  3. Am I the only one who is starting to lose interest in the show?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not here to bash. I was extremely excited about the show, about King's involvement, about Brian K. Vaughn writing it, about the cast.. I just found that in this episode specifically, the writing was just terrible. Maybe the acting too.

How the sudden short of water is suddenly made worse when the water tower is hit (merely a few minutes later), how one line-up ends in total chaos, how this problem was given a deus ex machina solution, but worse of all, how two thugs want meat, and will MURDER an older lady for it. Oh, and also attempt to rape an unconscious girl.

Now, I do realize that panic leads people to do unexpected things, but shoving the entire transformation into one episode (and a one day timeline) seems way too unrealistic. I just watched the rest of the episode finding more and more unlikely points. I doubt the police would lose control so easily, especially if they're armed. Warning shots into the air would've done the trick. The blossoming romance between Barbie and the journalist is also too soon. Her husband is still missing, a day or two ago she told Barbie to go to hell, and now they're holding hands?

Again, I'm a fan of the show. I just don't want it to go down the way Heroes ended..

  4. I gave it an okay. I think I'll easily call this my least favourite episode so far.

  5. You're straying off the track slightly, because the dome is interfering with pretty much everyone's brains so they're all doing things that we could consider a little bit strange or unorthodox. That's great writing because it gives the creators a bit of a buffer zone to work within, though they came close to the edge of that zone in this episode

While I didn't enjoy this episode as much as any of the others (because it was a little disjointed), it's set a few more angles in motion and has formed some new character relationships and interactions which will be developed more. The net result is an episode more aimed for the long run than week on week

  6. I'm having a really hard time figuring out what kind of relationship Angie and Joe have. Most of the time Joe doesn't even acknowledge that his sister is missing, then spends what could have been his last moments on earth looking for her, and then goes back to completely ignoring the fact that she is STILL missing? Angie on the other hand seems to be thinking Jow all the time. I shook my head when she was caught by Junior again last episode but I get it, she was just looking for her brother. When she was with Rose, she instantly talked about her brother and even when negotiating with Evil Jim, she made sure that her brother was included.

  7. Everyting just felt rushed to me. I was happy at the beginning of the episode that the townspeople started to acknowledge that they are running out of supplies, water. etc. But to havea full on riot just hours later? I'm just not digging it. I kind of wished that had approached the whole situation the way they build up Alice's need for insulin. Establishing in one episode that her personal supply in running out and in the next one dealing with the consequences of not having any insulin anymore. This subplot moved at a good pace and didn't feel forced like townspeople rioting.

Her husband is still missing, a day or two ago she told Barbie to go to hell, and now they're holding hands?
Julia got a note from her sister-in-law saying that she deserved better, so while her husband is still technically missing, Julia stopped looking for him since she tinks he left her. But I agree that it was too soon for a kiss but I guess they had to make use of the rain.

  8. I loved the episode! But there is still one issue I have with show: Why don't they try digging them out? Not with machines (since they react with the dome), but with their bare hands? And if the people on the inside of the dome can't do it, then how about the military on the outside? We didn't see any shortage of electricity there, can't they use gigantic scaffolds or digging machines, to either lift the dome up, or simply dig their way to the bottom of the dome? To be honest, if my town was trapped in a dome, that would seem like one of the first things I would try and do.

I still love this show! Keeps getting better and better. A few scenes here and there where the quality drops a little (the thug that tried to rape Angie), but overall, this show has quickly become my all-time favorite series!

  9. I loved how they showed Barbie and Julia kiss! I hate it when shows delay those big moments forever and ever, so I was very happy to get that over with!

  10. You people saying the rain was "too convenient" didn't really watch the episode, did you? I twas supposed to be convenient... That's the point of showing Julia saying so.

  11. I'm also in the same boat with you as far as my interest waning in this show. The main weakness for me the past few episodes has been the writing so far, and as far as last night's episode, I felt like you that (even though I realize that there are only so many episodes this season) the pacing of the plot developments: the speed of the Barbee/Julia romance, the water "problem/solution", the Angie/Rennie problem/solution, Dodi making the leap that the dome might be somewhat sentient and making the link that Norry/Joe are linked to it - that for me felt forced and a bit unnatural..... despite these annoyances, I also remain a fan and am hopeful because of the pedigree behind the show that things will improve (especially reading that Stephen King himself will write the first ep of S2)

Wondering how they are going to do a season two if they keep killing off their interesting characters. I liked Rose.

  13. Are they ever going to give Angie a break?? lol I really hope she's set free next ep

  14. Exactly, another case of weak characterization.

  15. We're saying that the explanation for the rain was a deus ex machina moment - a solution that pretty much came out of nowhere. While I do find it interesting that the dome has a mind of its own, the solution to the water problem was anti-climactic, especially as the town was one big riot, and seconds later everyone is holding buckets together and hugging.

  16. I actually liked that it rained at that specific moment, it's evident that the Dome or what's behind the Dome is sentient.

One thing that bugged me A LOT is Angie's behavior. You don't escape a psychopath and run into the woods. She was in her house, escaped from Junior and RAN INTO THE WOODS? No. You run to the most crowded area you can find and start clinging to people. I hate when shows create contrived issues like this to string out story. It's insulting to the viewer's intelligence and the writers can do better I hope. Uh.

  17. Joe and Norrie are literally two walking bacon of tower filled with energy..Dome landed as soon as Norrie entered the town and plus Joe was on the farm and Norrie was across town with her parents and that's what formed the dome in the first place. they are the town's hope if breaking the dome and think of about it when they thought they gonna die they kissed which physically increased the energy's dome 10 fold making it with stand the blast from the bomb. I don't think the dome is using them i think they are the dome sorta of speak.

  18. man..Angie don't have a break in this show..wtf! and poor Rose..i was really sad at her death.. and meanwhile, Junior is still alive..kill this guy already, so annoying!!

  19. But... wasn't Angie's house like... way out of the main town? Like in the fringes or something? Meaning she had to either go to town through the forest or through the main road/open areas? I thought it was her only surviving choice.

  20. Junior tried going underground in the cement factory, but the dome goes way deep into the ground.

  21. Didn't enjoy this at all, for reasons that have already been mentioned.

I do have the beginnings of a theory (although if you are reading this you are likely already 2 months ahead of me, so this may mean nothing to you):

I think Joe and Norrie are like some kind of Adam and Eve. They have been chosen (by someone, maybe aliens or a race of humans from the future) to carry on the human race long after the rest of the world wipes itself out with nukes. Think about it. They have been waiting patiently for Joe and Norrie to be in the same vicinity, and when they were, the Dome kicked in and trapped them there. Now it is trying to keep them alive (by providing clean water when supplies are short, etc). It doesn't really care about the rest of the townsfolk, because only Joe and Norrie are 'special'. So eventually, they will be the foreparents of a new race of humans that can inhabit a post-nuclear Earth.

I must be honest and say I think this show is a bit crap, and they have missed a great chance to make this into something special. However, I'll keep tuning in if only to find out how wrong my theory is :-)
