POLL : What did you think of True Blood - In the Evening?

  1. Just when the show was building some good momentum...along comes this absolute dud of an episode. I liked a few things, like the aftermath of Terry's death, Sarah Newlin and Eric's scenes with Nora, but most of it was so ridiculous and frustrating:

    - Jessica and James made absolutely no sense. Jason offers to get you out, you refuse because of reasons and then ask him to bring you some guy you met once to have sex for no reason. The actors do have chemistry, but the horrible writing really let them down this episode.

    - Just when the werewolves story looked like it was over...it's not. Just kill me now. Or actually just kill Alcide, his pack, his bitches, his dad, Nicole and her mother. Sam - please go back to Bon Temps, and STAY THERE!

    - It was stupid that they tried to make us care for Nora by giving us her back story twenty seconds before they killed her. I never hated her, but I'm glad she's gone.

Don't know why I even bother with this show anymore

  3. I don't know either.

  4. One of the interview bits I read with regard to last week's episode was that they were trying to clear out some of the storylines and cast. Why the bloody dickens couldn't they get rid of the stupid (boring, annoying, disconnected) werewolf story. Other than that I didn't have a problem with the episode. Felt like a breather ep as we position for the climax of the war. I did really like the scene between Bill and Andy, tho.

  5. I Can only ask why would they kill of Nora that sucks. Jason is so screwed lol

  6. Well this one was kind of a somber one I thought.

Poor Eric and Nora. (Just when Nora was getting good!) -Interesting that Godric has yet reappear after we saw on of Lilith's Siren's ripped him apart last season.

Bill just went from being awesome to a jerk all over again and it only took a couple of scenesXD

Surprised Sookie didn't find out about what happen to Adelaine's sisters.

Oh Jessica, as much as I like James too, you didn't have to go and do that to Jason after all he has done for you! -But seems like Violet likes Jason so this could be interesting!!

Something tells me Andy's going to retaliate!

And Life Insurance seems like such a common thing to be in the safety deposit box, but I doubt the company is going to give Arlene the funds, but I wonder if we are not done with Terry and/or the sniper-guy he hired from his military training.

Willa is def a fun asset to cast! (Wonder what she'll do when she learns about her father??)

Don't even want to mention that Sam, Nicole, and Alcide story line....::grunt and snarl::

Anyways, thought this one was just a change of the tide kind of episode. Can't believe we only have 3 episode left!!!

  7. 100% agreed!

  8. I thought Nora's back story was interesting, because the time period and Eric's role reminded me much of Lestat from Interview with the Vampire (Vampire Chronicles).

I'd rather have a flash back during a death-centric episode, than not get any at all. In some ways her death is thematically poetic, because of what Nora stood for and the realization she came to that Vampires (including herself) have done this to themselves.

I will miss Nora, but I think her death makes sense.

Happy to see Nora go! I just never cared for her character. Worried about Jason, and loved the Jessica scene. I would love to see her and James in a real relationship after they break out of that place. That would be a fun twist.

  10. Oh man! No Nora, why? Why? I love Sarah Newlin with a villain. I feel sorry for Eric.

I like the dialogue between Arlene and Bill.

    Are you walk on daylight?
    Yes, I am.
    Fuck Me

    huahuahauhauh hilarious.

  11. Who played the King?

  12. Good question! I don't know. I just went to IMDb and they don't have him listed, just peasants and courtesans. I try to rewatch the episode later and see if I can catch it in the credits. -If I figure it out I will get back to you! :)

  13. "But seems like Violet likes Jason so this could be interesting!!"
From the promo it seems more like she wants to terrorize him and use him as a food source.

"Oh Jessica, as much as I like James too, you didn't have to go and do that to Jason..."
Jessica's self-hating vampire shtick is already pissing me off. It's almost impossible to do one of those character arcs without annoying viewers and True Blood's writers aren't good enough to pull it off.

"Willa is def a fun asset to cast!"
I like Willa too. Her presence takes a little of the sting out of losing Nora.

  14. I definitely agree that the flashback was relevant, but it just seems like it was thrown in there at the last minute. Just a little more planning on the part of the writers could have gone such a long way, especially as it looks like the actor who plays Godric wasn't available to film this episode (it would have been cool to see a scene with Godric and Nora and Eric as a weird little vamp family :P)

Her death definitely makes sense, and the possibilities for where Eric will go forward now are exciting. I guess I'm a little disappointed that a character who I thought had some good potential at the beginning was ultimately so pointless - again, it shows a lack of planning from the writers :/

  15. I hate Sarah Newlin, she's pathetically annoying.. I have a big feeling that the vampires are going to kill her, or Bill for that matter.

  16. I think it was Hal Ozsan: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1230639/

  17. I agree they could have planned it better, but at the same time, I kind of think not having Godric there was interesting, because of what we saw Lilith's Siren do to his alleged spirit last season. I think Eric is the one character that seems to be the existentialist, except for when it comes to his family, so to see him beg for his help and not get it, could really turn the tide on Eric's outlook from here on out. --That is why I think despite being likable and having potential, her death IMO is not meaningless, but rather a really great way to show us that the tide is changing in terms of some of these characters' belief systems, which is really what Godric, Lilith, The Authority, and Warlow bring to the table...the truth of what God (and maybe even the devil) is in the True Blood universe...

Maybe sometime Eric will see both Godric and Nora together in spirit or in a flashback ::fingers crossed::

  18. Violet def seems like a dominatrix, but I remember reading something about a James, Jason, & Violet love triangle (which is now looking more like a love square with Jessica added), so I don't know if what we're seeing isn't a mirror of the Jessica-Jason-Hoyt payback like thing with James and Violet using Jessica and Jason??? -I agree though that it would be nice to see Jessica actually evolve and not make all the same mistakes so soon!!

Willa def helped take edge off! :)

  19. It would be interesting, but if James is as principled, as he has displayed he his, Jessica just proved how unworthy she is of his devotion by doing that to Jason! I don't think the two could work out, unless Jessica seriously goes through a transformation.

  20. For me she's a villain I love to hate, because her performance is just so good. I think the Vamps will probably have her head or blood before the end of series, but I could see her surviving the season since there are only 3 episodes left...

  21. Thank you, thank you! I couldn't figure out where I had seen him. He has been in quite a few things. :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah, it was weird how IMDB didn't list him at all, even though he had more lines in the show than several of the guards and other extras.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It was really awkward for Jason to be guarding the door while his on/off again/friends-with-benefits girlfriends sleeps with a random, good-natured stranger. Although, most people who show up as principled on True Blood, aren't at all -- they tend to be the most manipulative. (There are exceptions like Godric.)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes, he was.:-) I recognized him because I've seen him in Kyle XY, Californication and Dawson's Creek.

    ReplyDelete
  25. That's a really interesting point about Nora's death representing the characters' belief systems changing actually, I hadn't thought of that.

Also a good point about Godric last being seen having his throat torn out by Lilith, I was just thinking that after bringing him back so many times in flashbacks and dreams in seasons 3-5, this was an important time for him to be seen. It did work well just having Eric there though, since after all he and Nora's relationship (at least what we have seen on screen) seemed to be stronger than Godric and Nora's.

  26. He also played in Supernatural. He was some kind of Witch there. He played in 5x07 episode and his name is... Hal Ozsan. He also played in Californication - ye, i remember now.

  27. LOL! Ya that's why I wrote "If", because most likely he'll have his hypocrisies too!

  28. Thanks.

There's just a lot of dark verses light kind of things happening. Even Sookie is showing a darker side, where Tara is starting to be more humanitarian. And Warlow of course is fighting his physiological self, and then we have Lillth ripping Godric apart last season-breaking down the belief system of The Authority, and now wanting Bill to complete some 'work' (which is ironic when one thinks back to Bill's response to Marnie and Antonia), along with Bad Jessica with Good James, and Bad Violet with Good Jason, Laffeyette turns into Bad Corbette (and Sookie's good image of he parents is now shattered by their murderous truth), Nora switching sides (paralleling Godric), but embracing death instead of fearing it. Pam and Eric breaking down and creating new Children, Good Willa turned to changed Bad father, and bringing the God-ridden Sarah Newlin and making her a pretty big bad, while Steve now sits on the opposite side, just is really this incredible build up and turn over to what ever True Blood's ends are going to be!!

I mean, even though it's annoying the heck out me, Sam, Alcide, Emma, Martha, Nicole story line, as redundant or counter productive as it may be, may be thematic to these ideas, as they just can't escape each other and the horrible things either of them has ever done. Terry's story line the past couple seasons is also like that...

  29. I think they're working on it. They have to do something with it to wrap it up.

  30. I KNEW I'd seen him before!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Right on. I absolutely love she's emerging as the villain of this season and not the Governor as previews lead us to believe. Burrell turning out to be something of Sarah's puppet is cool. And her actress is just amazing at disarming people with her smile, but you know she's sick and twisted underneath. Have a feeling she's a goner by season's end, but I'm gonna enjoy her while she's here.

  32. So sorry to see Nora go she was a caring person. Now Jessiaca please fry her I am so tired of her whining about bring a bad person but she always does bad things so time to go
