I didn't hear what Lydia is... but now we see why she's always screaming... Gonna re-watch the episode before saying what I think. But I do want to know why I didn't see the kiss between Lydia and Stiles???
A Banshee is a kind of fairy that always knows when someone is going to die and they mourn the death before it happens or in this case they find the person who will die. They don't really do much more than that and scream and cry alot.
Thanks for the clarification. So is the teacher a Banshee? Cause she did more than scream & cry. As much as I love Lydia, I don't wanna watch her scream & cry all episode
Wow, that was awesome. I cannot wait to watch it again and see if I missed anything while tweeting about how great the episode was. :-) Now all I need is someone to get busy posting the link. I loved that we got so many answers and it looks like next week will keep the adrenaline pumping too.
Okay so I say this all the time but now THIS has to be one of the best yet and my favorites of the series, nonstop excitement and interesting character development, suspected the banshee thing but it was still a cool scene, and I only half suspected Jennifer was shady but the episode was put together so great my suspicion was mostly eliminated by the time they revealed it. Sooooo great.
Well that was expected... I'm bummed, because I was expecting something a little more interesting. New-chick-love-interest-for-the-hot-guy being the bad guy was the easy out, but I haven't fallen from the skies. Plus the set up that she might still be Paige offers for some interesting scenarios. Also how did she get from the warehouse back to the school so fast?
Love Stiles and the Sheriff.... LOVE THEM!
Kay Ethan is hands down the nicest Alpha. He needs to switch teams ASAP.
Lydia being a banshee was interesting (though also expected). I still would have preferred if she was just a dormant druid but whatevs... she could still be one... I'm not giving up hope on that. (one of the kids needs to be a druid. I wonder if it's something you are or if it's something you learn. 'Cause if it's an acquired skill, Stiles I got a job for you!)
Ahh,Dahne you/we were right.Yay!!Ok,it wasn't Morrell, but if i remember right the last time we talked here,Blake was second on your and my list for the Darach. :) Also i completly agree. It was awesome and i think i watch it again now. :)
Yep, she was my second after Morell. Congrats on guessing. I am so glad you loved this episode too. I rewatched it as soon as I could, eyes glued to the screen so I didn't miss a second. I think this one will be replayed a lot before next week's episode. It was classic Teen Wolf - so exciting and fast paced that it was breathtaking. Best episode of the season so far.
The same to you! @Congrats :) And i am with you cuz i just couldn't take my eyes from the screen.Especially at the end. I hope the time flies till the next episode cuz i am so excited to see what happens. ( ...Lydia now knows what she is ( to be honest i knew that she could be a Banshee but somehow i expected(wanted) her to be a druid/ poor Derek, the wrong woman,again/ Stiles Dad (please be ok))
Great build up parts of episode with incredbly big letdown of a pay off.
Oh Teen Wolf, I wish you were more creative with identity of Darach instead of taking the sexist route of blatant misogyny.
Now if you kill her next episode while likes of Peter and Gerard continue to defy death and come back from life and be buddies with everything, it will be everything I needed to know.
Well Jeff Davis promised that the whole stuff WILL NOT be a triangle and will be something new (fans are guessing some sort of poly-amorous relationship)
And Yeah, Scott and Lydia HAVE been growing closer. First noticed that when he got pissed off when alpha pack threatened her few episodes back.
LOL, the screaming makes sense. I love the way Lydia has begun to greet most of Stiles' and Scott's um..requests with long suffering sighs. :-)
I didn't expect her to take the Sheriff. i was bracing myself for him not surviving. The twins history was interesting. Nice set up for them potentially hanging around past the end of the Alpha pack story. Though I have to say Ethan sprucing Danny up for the recital was just weird. I was beginning to think he was going to lick his fingers and smooth Danny's hair.
I like "The Wailing Woman" better than banshee. just sounds cooler.
Are we being set up for an official Isaac Allison connection? I'm sure I'm forgetting something.
I had a really crazy Idea a few episodes ago, when everyone was first speculating about the identity of the Darach. Couldn't it be Stiles' long lost mom? Apparently, Jennifer has had her face repaired, because she was injured so badly, so she could be anyone from the past. On the other hand, whose picture was that on the hospital record they showed us? Stiles' dad would have recognized a picture of his own wife, wouldn't he? So maybe she is a surgically (or magically) repaired Paige, after all. But why, then, did she kiss the sheriff the way she did in the last scene? Of course, if it is Stiles' long lost mom, that would be a nice setup for Stiles becoming the Druid of Scott's pack in the future, wouldn't it?
Oh Invested! Get over your gynocentric view of the world and realize that both misandry and misogny lead down the wrong road. Join me in misanthropy, instead ;-)
Because its yet again all about a female character being portrayed as someone manipulative who uses their sex to get close to a male character and persists through manipulation and trickery, only to be thwarted and most likely killed by a male.
While the likes of Peter and Gerard laugh in face of deadly injuries, fire, cancer and gods know what.
I think Gerard is being kept around because he is the most thoroughly hatable character on this show. Michael Hogan plays despicable bad guys very well. You need a really despicabe person to keep the viewers' emotions running high.
Quite frankly I am hoping for a ticked off/irate Derek scene next week instead of anything emoangsty. I think that would be much more appropriate. As for last week, every show is entitled to one boring, filler, badly paced episode a year. Not many follow it up with one as awesome as this one though. This is a beautiful example of why more people should be watching this show. The constant tension and rapid pace are like nothing else on TV.
I am not as excited about Lydia as a banshee as others because once again it puts her in a passive role. She senses people are dying, goes into a trance, and screams a lot. That doesn't seem very helpful or empowering. I hope they find a way to make Lydia's story stronger because Holland is one of their better actors and deserves a part in which she shines.
I completely agree about Sheriff though. He needs to stay alive, especially now that he knows the supernatural exists. I can't deal with a heartbroken, orphaned Stiles. He's my favorite character.
I don't think it would work as Stiles' mom since Sheriff would have definitely known if his wife had been slashed up and left for dead. However I don't understand how her face could be badly slashed up either because the hospital picture didn't seem to be and she was listed as a Jane Doe. Frankly none of it makes sense yet and may never make sense. I was thinking that she kissed him to let him see past her "Ms. Blake" glamour but then Derek would have seen her too.
Blake as the reincarnated Paige does get some support here though, but only if Derek didn't actually snap her neck. We know that Stiles and Cora believe that Darach was left for dead by werewolves over 10 years ago, which supports the Paige timeline and condition of her body. Blake confirmed that it was her in the hospital 10 years ago and she has a hatred for alpha werewolves, not werewolves in particular. Since Ennis was an alpha when he bit Paige but Paige was in love with beta Derek, this makes sense too. Not sure I want the story to go in this direction but they have laid the foundations that it could. Of course that hospital picture looked nothing like Paige and was way too old to be her.
It also makes sense why her parents never seem to hear her scream. Of course it does not make sense that Derek and Scott didn't hear her when she was screaming right before she trance drove to the dead pool guy. Definitely agree about calling her Wailing Woman instead of banshee. Plus WW is shorter to type.
I am getting significantly more nervous about Sheriff. I never expected him to be taken either. Frankly I expected to see Stiles pulling the Derek-Cora scene, watching over his dad in the hospital at the end of this. Sheriff simply canNOT die. I can't take a grieving Stiles on top of everything and frankly Melissa has to be running out of room at Casa Scott. 3 teen boys in one house, especially those 3, would cause too much chaos for any one woman to handle.
I am firmly against Isaac and Allison from happening. Not because of the characters and certainly not for some lame shipping thing, but because love triangles on TV need to all be hunted down and killed. Seriously, where are the love triangle hunters. I swear love triangles (and other geometric combinations) are a much bigger threat than werewolves and vampires. Plus now that the actors have ended their real-life relationship that would just be more awkward than it probably already is.
I think I would like Stiles' mom to be (or have been) a supernatural being mainly because that would give the writers a nice excuse for giving Stiles some powers of his own. Stiles dad is great, but normal. So there's no hope that any powers will be coming from that direction.
I actually like that Stiles has no powers. He represents the strictly human side of things and makes him the most relatable. I don't need Stiles' family drama to be anything more than it is. Plus I would hate to think that Stiles' mom was lying to his dad all this time. I mean the guy still wears his wedding ring.
If you're on Tumblr then you should know that the fandom is making it way more painful with all the "The last words that Stiles said to his father were Mom would've believed me" and stuff. I practically live on Tumblr, but where there are feels, Tumblr makes it hurts a 100 times more.
#Same I'm forever in denial. He's alive though, I think they won't kill him off. I love the theory about Stiles being the Guardian and Jennifer using the Sheriff as a bargain chip or whatever.
I know, that's why i would've preferred it if Lydia would've been a druid. But let's hope as a Banshee she can do more than sense when people are dying, trance and screaming.Maybe they add some talents.( for example that she can make people crazy with her screaming or kill with her voice - - that's the case in the german wikipedia )
Druid would have been better if as farfetched. I do hope they expand the banshee mythology because there has to be something that ties her into an active role of the mytharc. She's been a passive character for too long. It would be nice if she had premonitions or something. Although my real preference is just that people start taking Lydia seriously and remembering to include her more often. She's super smart and I would have loved if she had been able to use that to come up with some of the pieces about Darach instead of DumbleDeaton doling them out slowly.
Maybe they'll include Lydia now that it's established that she's a Banshee more often in their actions or ask her for guidance/her idea's.
I'd like that too cuz i think that she know's more than she's aware of. Such as the tree she's drawing. It could be the Darach's sacred tree. It's power sourece or whatever. ;D (And maybe it's the same tree under which Paige died.Wasn't that also a sacrifical/sacred tree?- Would make sense since Blake is so drawn to Derek.)
I believe it is the same tree as last week too. I put that in the recap because it is far too strange if it is not. Plus I also think finding the tree is how they are going to stop Darach so hopefully Lydia will lead them to it. If they stop keeping secrets from Lydia (they seriously didn't tell her she was shagging an alpha werewolf until a couple episodes ago - say what?) and get her input, the entire team will be stronger.
I think the monster is what Darach really looks like. Blake is just the illusion she projects. It was said that she was mauled both face and body and the monster has claw marks on the face.
Everyone. His detective work is all about preventing further murders. He's taken care of Scott on numerous occasions....even to the point of standing guard over him when during his first changes. He may not be great at it yet, but spirit/personalitywise he's a guardian.
I agree with you about Derek getting mad instead of whiny. Unfortunately, I think this news will be too close on the heels of Boyd for the writers (totally a guess on my part) to resist the emoangsty approach.
We've already established that this ep was not a dud for me but it is the rare show that can go (typically) 22 eps with as few as 1 dud.
I *think* I've added another viewer. Can't call it til she's seen more than 5 eps but its getting close. Haven't been able to sway my cousins yet. Still working on it.
My take was this her screams (wails) didn't reach full throttle until she had the knife at her throat.
oh! I was right....I did forget something. i forgot to mention how cool I thought it was that the recital music was used to power the spell that killed the pianist.
I dismissed the idea that they will kill off the Sheriff specifically because leaving Stiles an orphan is unacceptable. I bet a nickel they will not do it. I was expecting Cora to go bye bye.
I agree with you completely about Allison and Isaac. It's too teen angsty. Plus there's no way it's believable on *this* show. They would have too far to go to get me to believe either Alison or Scott with someone else. I can buy Isaac crushing or Scott dealing with jealousy, but them being a real couple....it's an impossible sell.
Yeah I though about that too, I was just confused about how they played it...At first I thought that maybe there were two darachs, or some sort of master/student thing going on. But like you say I guess that Blake is just an illusion!
OMG Derek has the WORSE taste in women! Kate and now dear Jenny the Darach! if there is a psycho killer around u can count on Derek to find himself in a relationship with them! (it can actually make a handy method of identifying bad guys; when Stiles is the sheriff he can save a lot of time and effort not to mention lives going right ahead and arresting anyone that gets involved with the guy) and now i'm amusing myself making scenarios about what Page probably was...
Anyone catch on to the joke about Jackson being in Paris? I so love Stiles & his sarcasm. I sure hope his dad doesn't die. It's going to be really weird between Scott & Stiles with the Darach holding Stiles dad & Duecalion holding Scott mom.
We know Lydia can assist with the dead coming back to life. So I think she'll be able to do a little more than scream. Goodness I sure hope so cause I don't want to watch Lydia scream all the time. I pretty tired of hearing her screams to be honest. I'm still thinking she's more than a banshee or I'm just not understanding if Peter's bite turned her into a banshee or was she already that? What effect did Peter's bite actually have on her? Please don't say werewolf bites turns you into anything supernatural
Apparently the Guardian is supposed to represent all other 4 kinds that were sacrificed: virgin, warrior, healer and philosopher. That's why the guardian was at the center of the knot. Here's a gifset that sums it up and helped me understand it easier: http://yeuxaveugles.tumblr.com/post/56860091014/stiles-is-the-guardian-the-last-piece-of-the-five
this show never fails to impress in so many levels loving the fact scott could become an alpha without killing one that it could be in his nature i could see scott becoming an alpha of his own pack at some point but in season 3? WOW been some questions weither they can pull off a 24 episode season but so far so brilliantly good :D just hope 3B is as good as 3A
I don't see him as a guardian yet at all. Yes he tries to protect his friends but they spend an awful lot of time trying to protect him too. Yes he has knowledge but other people on the show have a lot more. Sheriff makes a much better candidate for guardian than Stiles does and I say this when Stiles is my favorite character. Darach has been pretty straightforward when it comes to matching sacrifices with categories. Then only one that was even a bit off was the ROTC cadet along with those who actually served in the military. My guess is it goes more like Deucalion has Scott's mom and Darach has Stiles' dad. The team has to find a way to get them both back safely.
I don't buy this because Darach herself said that the order of the killings were interchangeable. That doesn't sound like guardians are a combination of all the others. I don't think Stiles fits enough in any category except virgin at this point to be considered sacrifice-worthy. I love Stiles but he's not a guardian of anything yet.
My guess would be that she was already a banshee and so her innate supernatural powers would not allow Peter's bite to take hold. I would guess that it was these latent powers that Peter tapped into and it was a combo of Lydia the banshee and the things Peter already put into the works before he died that allowed her to raise the dead. I don't think she's going to be able to resurrect just anyone.
I think they've tried to find a way to make her sorta psychic without falling into the total plot device pool. I'm hoping that she tries to figure out her powers more proactively and she becomes an early warning system. Also, she's immune to werewolf bites and can help raise the dead, so she may have more powers than just screaming.
I liked the reveal it because when they said it, it felt totally reasonable and consistent while still being a surprise. I went "duh of course!" but had never considered it. I'd always attributed the screaming to her character trope and found it slightly annoying, but they made it reasonable. And that quality and forethought of storytelling was v. impressive IMO.
You know with all the stuff that has happened at that school now : and finally the State and FBI police are becoming interested in Beacon Hills {Dont tell me everybody missed that line by the Sheriff} there is going be more heat on the Hills for a while.. maybe
I do not think Sheriff will die either. However I think next week will ratchet up the tension with him as bait. I can't wait to see Stiles and his dad reunited. I really like their relationship and it will be fun to see how they navigate the supernatural together.
I agree that whatever new character is added they are automatically on my "side eye" list. I will greet every new person as suspicious from here on out on Teen Wolf.
I think it would be pretty cool if the did a master/student thing myself but since Sheriff saw her as both Darach and Blake I am doubtful. Who knows though. They have the whole second half of the season to develop things.
That is what I am most excited about in next week's episode. They are going to have to save both parents, each in the clutches of insane evil. It's going to take one heck of a plan to pull it off so I hope that Argent gets involved in the plan too.
I am kind of surprised we didn't see Coach at the concert along with all the other teachers. As for the school, I would hope that they start locking their doors and kicking people out at a decent time. There is far too much wandering around at night in that school for me to take them seriously.
I kind of talked about the werewolf and raising dead thing elsewhere in that I do not think it's something she can do on a regular basis. It was a very specific combination of everything Peter put into play and him tapping into her latent banshee stuff. However I do like the idea of her being an early warning system because it makes sense to the myth and the show. I guess this means Deaton will come through with the knowledge again. Mostly though I want them to either bend the myth or start using her genius intelligence as a way to make her pivotal to the story. She's been a reactive character too long and I am tired of her being a pawn. I would actually prefer it be her brains that become integral to the team but I am good with her banshee connection if that's what it takes. I do agree that it was great storytelling to make her a banshee. It gave me confidence that the writers have an overall plan, not that that I didn't trust them before. These writers pay off more than any other show.
I wouldn't say that Stiles is a full fledged guardian, but the question was 'how could be considered a guardian. No he's not there yet, and for the purposes of a ritual I think you're right. Father over son.
I decided to recast the ROTC cadet and his dog. Honestly, I thought the kid was a dancer when the ep started. Then he said military family. I choked on my water.
I think your predictions for the next eps plot have darn good odds of being right. :-)
The order of the outer four were interchangeable with the center having to be last...at least that was my first though when we saw the design on the table. {When I saw it I was surprised that the cop had been killed at the beginning of the ep then Stiles pointed out that she was a teacher. (though my mental definition of 'philosopher that's kicking back at me.)}
Excellent point about Lydia. I'm hoping that her statement about using her ability to save people portends her becoming more active...perhaps even (despite the show being about the hero werewolf) saving a few people on her own.
My biggest problem with this theory is that when Blake was listing the categories, she said guardians in the middle and ended with virgins. She was obviously not concerned about the order so I'm not sure that it is important to her.
That's what I have been calling him in my head since it was clear that VetBoss was not going to cut it this season. He is so fully the fantasy archetype that I actually want him to turn out evil and not because of some supernatural thing that compels him to be. I guess I should just be glad he hasn't died yet since Scott is the boy king and he, the wise mentor.
I would love to see all of them able to save a few people along the way. I like this group dynamic and hope they pursue the idea of everyone bringing something important to the team in the future. Not listening to or including Lydia has gotten them in trouble more than once. I would love for her to be more fully integrated into the team. Same thing goes for Isaac. This is one show that I feel needs to focus on a wider cast of characters, especially since the pace goes so quickly.
But the fact that the guardian is only one. Everything else had to be in threes and then the guardian is one. That is suspicious, right? Plus being in the center. The Guardian seem like an important figure in all this. And if it is supposed to be a combination of the four (which will kind of make sense) then it couldn't be the Sheriff, since he's not a virgin, because there's Stiles :D We'll find out soon enough. But I do see Stiles as a guardian. Since day 1 he's done nothing but help Scott. Even when he was mad at him for kissing Lydia he was there to keep him chained so he won't kill anyone. He's helped Derek (and not only him, now he's helped Cora too) numerous times without being obligated to do so. He could've just let him die. I'm just saying the theory is pretty good and I can see Stiles as a guardian. (Now let's drown in Stilinski family feels, shall we? T__T)
Why would there be only one guardian? Argent's board said guardians plural and when Blake was listing them off, she also said guardians plural. Helping people does not make someone a guardian. It makes them a good person. That Stiles is without a doubt.
I wish I could find the post on Tumblr that explains what I can't, but it was Tuesday when I saw it and since then I've liked a lot of other stuff so it's almost impossible. :D
mmmm i saw a thorough comparison between Stiles and Jennifer Blake on tumblr the other day, with pics included, about the mirroring and similarities of their interactions with Derek... (about Derek having the tendency to pass out injured in front of their cars and Derek hiding in Stiles' room in s1 -why not Scott's?- etc etc etc and i'm adding Peter Hale as alpha going to Stiles for help locating Derek in s1 when Scott would have been a more logical choice) and then i came up with a theory of a werewolf pack and emissary codependent evolution through the ages that hardwired the instinct to the wolf side of an alpha to seek/locate/approach the nearest emissary available when in need of help. So i'm choosing to disregard both the sterek slashers and the Jenny/derek shippers and theorize that the whole thing is less of a 'love story' and more having to do with an untrained alpha subconsciously recognizing their pack needs an emissary only clueless about the fact and how to go about it. If my theory is correct, sorry Dahne, i know you want a plain human Stiles but he's probably an emissary to be, or a potential emissary.
I do prefer Stiles to remain human but I also prefer that romance and especially shipping not be the end all and be all to character motivation. Therefore I find this theory very interesting and also plausible. I could see Stiles becoming a druid in the future, although I still think Lydia makes more sense for this role.
Interesting post. I disagree about Deaton though, He is still the Hale's emissary and Scott is definitely not an alpha yet. It may very be that his lame excuse about trying to suppress the supernatural has more to do with him not acting emmissary-ish or it could be that Derek rarely consults him. I'm also not ready to be that charitable about Blake attacking the werewolves. For me it makes a lot of strategic sense for her on a personal level. Wipe out all 4 of the werewolves, including an alpha and a possible alpha in a scenario that doesn't lead directly back to her. My guess is eventually Isaac would have been wanting to kill himself too. The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is what she was planning to do with Derek. I'm not sure she is pro-Derek or pro-getting an inside track.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Shout out to everyone who correctly guessed banshee like me in regards to what Lydia is.
ReplyDeleteToo predictable. But the teacher just got more interesting.
ReplyDeleteWhy isn't there an "I'm scared for life and I need teen wolf support group after this one" option?
ReplyDeleteI didn't hear what Lydia is... but now we see why she's always screaming... Gonna re-watch the episode before saying what I think. But I do want to know why I didn't see the kiss between Lydia and Stiles???
ReplyDeleteBanshee. The kiss is in the next episode or the one after that. It was a promo for the next few episodes.
ReplyDeleteThanks... what is a Banshee? Something I need to google?

ReplyDeleteBest comment ever! Ha! I think we might all need a support group after that episode or at least an oxygen mask.

ReplyDeleteThe teacher is Darach.
ReplyDeleteyeah I know she's Darach but she said something along the lines that Lydia is like her... a wailing woman or something like that
ReplyDeleteShe meant that they appear sweet and normal but are something more, hence her analogy about the snake under a beautiful plant.

ReplyDeleteWow, didn't see the teacher as the Darch twist coming.
ReplyDeleteand please pass on the Allison/Isaac/Scott love triangle.
Oh and anyone else noticing Scott and Lydia growing... closer?..
Yes!! I think they'd be cute together but my boyfriend thinks it was a friendship hand hold. But who knows.
ReplyDeleteI think it was a "we're in deep trouble here and something scary is coming, but we'll face it together" handhold.

ReplyDeleteDo they get forgiven for boring you last week?
How is the Darach being a female sexist? lol.
ReplyDeleteI had a really crazy Idea a few episodes ago, when everyone was first speculating about the identity of the Darach. Couldn't it be Stiles' long lost mom? Apparently, Jennifer has had her face repaired, because she was injured so badly, so she could be anyone from the past. ReplyDeleteWhile the likes of Peter and Gerard laugh in face of deadly injuries, fire, cancer and gods know what.
I think Gerard is being kept around because he is the most thoroughly hatable character on this show. Michael Hogan plays despicable bad guys very well. You need a really despicabe person to keep the viewers' emotions running high.
ReplyDeleteQuite frankly I am hoping for a ticked off/irate Derek scene next week instead of anything emoangsty. I think that would be much more appropriate. As for last week, every show is entitled to one boring, filler, badly paced episode a year. Not many follow it up with one as awesome as this one though. This is a beautiful example of why more people should be watching this show. The constant tension and rapid pace are like nothing else on TV.
ReplyDeleteI am not as excited about Lydia as a banshee as others because once again it puts her in a passive role. She senses people are dying, goes into a trance, and screams a lot. That doesn't seem very helpful or empowering. I hope they find a way to make Lydia's story stronger because Holland is one of their better actors and deserves a part in which she shines.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree about Sheriff though.
ReplyDeleteBlake as the reincarnated Paige does get some support here though, but only if Derek didn't actually snap her neck.
ReplyDeleteI am getting significantly more nervous about Sheriff.
OMG! OMG! It can't just end there! What an AMAZING episode! Can it be next week already!
ReplyDeleteI think I would like Stiles' mom to be (or have been) a supernatural being mainly because that would give the writers a nice excuse for giving Stiles some powers of his own. Stiles dad is great, but normal. So there's no hope that any powers will be coming from that direction.
ReplyDeleteI actually like that Stiles has no powers. He represents the strictly human side of things and makes him the most relatable. I don't need Stiles' family drama to be anything more than it is. Plus I would hate to think that Stiles' mom was lying to his dad all this time. I mean the guy still wears his wedding ring.
ReplyDeleteIf you're on Tumblr then you should know that the fandom is making it way more painful with all the "The last words that Stiles said to his father were Mom would've believed me" and stuff. I practically live on Tumblr, but where there are feels, Tumblr makes it hurts a 100 times more.
ReplyDeleteI refuse to believe Sheriff is dead or is going to die anytime soon. I simply refuse.
ReplyDelete#Same I'm forever in denial. He's alive though, I think they won't kill him off. I love the theory about Stiles being the Guardian and Jennifer using the Sheriff as a bargain chip or whatever.
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time understanding how Darach could ever consider Stiles a guardian. What is he guarding?
ReplyDeleteBasically one of the new character is always the one hiding. camera man now teacher women.
ReplyDeleteI know, that's why i would've preferred it if Lydia would've been a druid.
ReplyDeleteBut let's hope as a Banshee she can do more than sense when people are dying, trance and screaming.Maybe they add some talents.( for example that she can make people crazy with her screaming or kill with her voice - - that's the case in the german wikipedia )
ReplyDeleteMaybe they'll include Lydia now that it's established that she's a Banshee more often in their actions or ask her for guidance/her idea's.
ReplyDeleteI'd like that too cuz i think that she know's more than she's aware of. Such as the tree she's drawing. It could be the Darach's sacred tree. It's power sourece or whatever. ;D (And maybe it's the same tree under which Paige died.Wasn't that also a sacrifical/sacred tree?- Would make sense since Blake is so drawn to Derek.)
Great episode! We're starting to have more answers! That's good altough I don't understand what the ugly blue eyed creature is, if Blake is the Darach?
ReplyDeleteI believe it is the same tree as last week too.
ReplyDeleteAh,Dahne you were right with your speculation! Look at the extendet promo -->http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/07/teen-wolf-episode-310-overlooked.html
ReplyDeleteDeucalion has Scott's Ma..and he sets her free in exchange for Jennifer.(I'd gladly do that)
Stiles is very angry cuz Jennifer has his dad and he doesn't want to help her.(understandably enough)
I think the monster is what Darach really looks like. Blake is just the illusion she projects. It was said that she was mauled both face and body and the monster has claw marks on the face.
ReplyDeleteEveryone. His detective work is all about preventing further murders. He's taken care of Scott on numerous occasions....even to the point of standing guard over him when during his first changes. He may not be great at it yet, but spirit/personalitywise he's a guardian.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about Derek getting mad instead of whiny. Unfortunately, I think this news will be too close on the heels of Boyd for the writers (totally a guess on my part) to resist the emoangsty approach.
ReplyDeleteWe've already established that this ep was not a dud for me but it is the rare show that can go (typically) 22 eps with as few as 1 dud.
I *think* I've added another viewer. Can't call it til she's seen more than 5 eps but its getting close. Haven't been able to sway my cousins yet. Still working on it.
My take was this her screams (wails) didn't reach full throttle until she had the knife at her throat.
ReplyDeleteoh!
ReplyDeleteBut like you say I guess that Blake is just an illusion!
ReplyDeleteAnyone catch on to the joke about Jackson being in Paris? I so love Stiles & his sarcasm. I sure hope his dad doesn't die. It's going to be really weird between Scott & Stiles with the Darach holding Stiles dad & Duecalion holding Scott mom.
ReplyDeleteWe know Lydia can assist with the dead coming back to life.
ReplyDeleteApparently the Guardian is supposed to represent all other 4 kinds that were sacrificed: virgin, warrior, healer and philosopher. That's why the guardian was at the center of the knot. Here's a gifset that sums it up and helped me understand it easier: http://yeuxaveugles.tumblr.com/post/56860091014/stiles-is-the-guardian-the-last-piece-of-the-five
ReplyDeletethis show never fails to impress in so many levels
ReplyDeleteloving the fact scott could become an alpha without killing one that it could be in his nature i could see scott becoming an alpha of his own pack at some point but in season 3? WOW
been some questions weither they can pull off a 24 episode season but so far so brilliantly good :D just hope 3B is as good as 3A
I don't see him as a guardian yet at all.
ReplyDeleteI don't buy this because Darach herself said that the order of the killings were interchangeable. That doesn't sound like guardians are a combination of all the others. I don't think Stiles fits enough in any category except virgin at this point to be considered sacrifice-worthy. I love Stiles but he's not a guardian of anything yet.
ReplyDeleteMy guess would be that she was already a banshee and so her innate supernatural powers would not allow Peter's bite to take hold. I would guess that it was these latent powers that Peter tapped into and it was a combo of Lydia the banshee and the things Peter already put into the works before he died that allowed her to raise the dead. I don't think she's going to be able to resurrect just anyone.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link. This does look very awesome. Interesting that the hospital is where the big battle is going to take place.
ReplyDeleteI think they've tried to find a way to make her sorta psychic without falling into the total plot device pool. I'm hoping that she tries to figure out her powers more proactively and she becomes an early warning system. Also, she's immune to werewolf bites and can help raise the dead, so she may have more powers than just screaming.
ReplyDeleteI liked the reveal it because when they said it, it felt totally reasonable and consistent while still being a surprise. I went "duh of course!" but had never considered it. I'd always attributed the screaming to her character trope and found it slightly annoying, but they made it reasonable. And that quality and forethought of storytelling was v. impressive IMO.
Quite an enjoyable episode.
ReplyDeleteSadly no Coach or Greenburg though.
You know with all the stuff that has happened at that school now : and finally the State and FBI police are becoming interested in Beacon Hills {Dont tell me everybody missed that line by the Sheriff} there is going be more heat on the Hills for a while.. maybe
All the bad guys last season were male. There are only two choices.
ReplyDeleteS1=1 female, S2=3 males, S3=1 female (ambiguous) + 4 male/1 female alphas (mixed bag)
And the matriarchal Argent clan--one of the primary mythologies of the show--seems to be at odds with your analysis.
Congrats on probably getting someone else hooked. I really think this show is overlooked because of the unfortunate name and channel it is on.
ReplyDeleteThey do seem to keep a pretty good balance. It helps make guessing the bad guy more fun.
ReplyDeleteI do not think Sheriff will die either. However I think next week will ratchet up the tension with him as bait. I can't wait to see Stiles and his dad reunited. I really like their relationship and it will be fun to see how they navigate the supernatural together.
ReplyDeleteI agree that whatever new character is added they are automatically on my "side eye" list. I will greet every new person as suspicious from here on out on Teen Wolf.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be pretty cool if the did a master/student thing myself but since Sheriff saw her as both Darach and Blake I am doubtful. Who knows though. They have the whole second half of the season to develop things.
ReplyDeleteHa! So Derek is Supernatural's Sam? I feel Paige fan fiction coming in 5, 4, 3....
ReplyDeleteThat is what I am most excited about in next week's episode. They are going to have to save both parents, each in the clutches of insane evil. It's going to take one heck of a plan to pull it off so I hope that Argent gets involved in the plan too.
ReplyDeleteI am kind of surprised we didn't see Coach at the concert along with all the other teachers. As for the school, I would hope that they start locking their doors and kicking people out at a decent time. There is far too much wandering around at night in that school for me to take them seriously.
ReplyDeleteI kind of talked about the werewolf and raising dead thing elsewhere in that I do not think it's something she can do on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say that Stiles is a full fledged guardian, but the question was 'how could be considered a guardian. No he's not there yet, and for the purposes of a ritual I think you're right. Father over son.
ReplyDeleteI decided to recast the ROTC cadet and his dog. Honestly, I thought the kid was a dancer when the ep started. Then he said military family. I choked on my water.
I think your predictions for the next eps plot have darn good odds of being right. :-)
The order of the outer four were interchangeable with the center having to be last...at least that was my first though when we saw the design on the table. {When I saw it I was surprised that the cop had been killed at the beginning of the ep then Stiles pointed out that she was a teacher. (though my mental definition of 'philosopher that's kicking back at me.)}
ReplyDeleteSo, this kind of works for me.
Oh...yeah. Looking at it like that I agree. It makes sense.
ReplyDeleteExcellent point about Lydia. I'm hoping that her statement about using her ability to save people portends her becoming more active...perhaps even (despite the show being about the hero werewolf) saving a few people on her own.
ReplyDeleteAnd once again my personal lexicon grows.... DumbleDeaton. LOVE IT
ReplyDeleteHa! A dancer? I was a bit shocked by the military thing too though.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest problem with this theory is that when Blake was listing the categories, she said guardians in the middle and ended with virgins. She was obviously not concerned about the order so I'm not sure that it is important to her.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I have been calling him in my head since it was clear that VetBoss was not going to cut it this season. He is so fully the fantasy archetype that I actually want him to turn out evil and not because of some supernatural thing that compels him to be. I guess I should just be glad he hasn't died yet since Scott is the boy king and he, the wise mentor.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see all of them able to save a few people along the way.
ReplyDeleteBut the fact that the guardian is only one.
ReplyDeleteBut I do see Stiles as a guardian.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could find the post on Tumblr that explains what I can't, but it was Tuesday when I saw it and since then I've liked a lot of other stuff so it's almost impossible. :D
ReplyDeletemmmm i saw a thorough comparison between Stiles and Jennifer Blake on tumblr the other day, with pics included, about the mirroring and similarities of their interactions with Derek...
ReplyDeleteIf my theory is correct, sorry Dahne, i know you want a plain human Stiles but he's probably an emissary to be, or a potential emissary.
I do prefer Stiles to remain human but I also prefer that romance and especially shipping not be the end all and be all to character motivation. Therefore I find this theory very interesting and also plausible. I could see Stiles becoming a druid in the future, although I still think Lydia makes more sense for this role.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post.
ReplyDeletemmmm a banshee as a druid would be... rather original :D
ReplyDelete
