Looks like that love triangle will continue to take
shape this fall on New Girl: Merritt Wever is
returning to the Fox comedy for at least two
episodes, EW has learned. In the season
premiere, the twice-Emmy nominated actress
from Nurse Jackie will reprise her role as
Elizabeth, Schmidt’s college girlfriend with whom
he rekindled a romance late in season 2. In the
wedding-day finale, Cece (Hannah Simone)
revealed to Schmidt (Max Greenfield) that she
was interested in getting back together with him,
prompting Schmidt to literally run away from
making a decision between the two women.
