As "How I Met Your Mother" enters its ninth and final season on CBS this fall, the cast members, creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas and director-executive producer Pamela Fryman gathered for a special send-off celebration at San Diego's Comic-Con International.
Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan were all on hand for the panel discussion and a more intimate press room conversation afterward. Here are the Season 9-related highlights from the press room:
Josh Radnor on the overall storyline of Season 9: "There's a mass migration to the Far Hampton Inn for Barney and Robin's wedding. There are problems along the way because that's what happens in television. We pick up literally where we left off in Season 8 ... We're not abandoning the structure of the show and what made the show feel so playful and inventive."
Cobie Smulders on her feelings heading toward the finale: "I have heightened emotions. We [recently] did our first interview [about the finale] and they were like, 'What are you gonna miss the most?' and I literally started to cry. On set it hasn't quite sunk in. After the holidays we have [the final] six episodes, that's gonna be a really intense time for everyone."
