How I Met Your Mother - Season 9 - Casting News - John Lithgow Returning

CBS announced Monday that John Lithgow is the latest prominent guest star of the past to sign on for the upcoming final season, which focuses largely on the long weekend nuptials of two of the main characters. Lythgow, who appeared twice on the series in 2011, will reprise the role of Barney's do-gooder dad Jerry Whitaker.

    I would be amazing if they got them in the same episode and they made a PLL joke/reference. Something like they get a text " Hello bitches, I'm watching. -B" and it turns out that B is for Barney.

    So excited to have him back. But it was a no-brainer. How were they going to explain that Barney's Dad wouldn't be coming to the wedding??
