Elizabeth Mastrantonio is joining CBS’ new D.C.-set thriller Hostages as the FLOTUS, a role portrayed in the pilot by Scandal‘s Kate Burton, TVLine has learned.

Per sources, the plan is to re-shoot the two scenes in the premiere featuring Burton. Mastrantonio will also appear in the third episode (and likely beyond).

  1. And the odds of Nick's mom playing a big role on Grimm this season just became very slim.

  2. Hmm, it usually is not good news when they recast someone this late in the game. Wonder what went into play for this recasting.

  3. Man, I didn't even think of that. Now i'm twice as perturbed. I really want to see what's been going on in the bigger Grimm world. Nick's mom has the best knowledge of the Grimm side of that.

  4. If Grimm is still intent on exploring that area, I'm sure they'll resort to the standard easy out: enter a shadowy new Grimm... "Nick, your mother sent me."

  5. I guess they can always have her e-mail again or perhaps call with info. Do Grimms have unlimited texting and anywhere calling?

  6. Maybe we'll find out if Grimms Skype each other this season.

  7. Ha! Complete with product placed laptops/tablets. I think you should go into TV marketing.

  8. If it was CBS, I know Microsoft would be all over it. I lost count of how many times one of their shows had a product placement for a Windows Phone or one of their Surface Tablets.

  9. 11th for the season....

  10. If it were USA Network, they would be skyping in a Hyundai while telling us about the cool hands-free parking features and back bumper video. It's amazing how transparent product placement has become. Last week Teen Wolf had a character waving a Reese's peanut butter cup by his mouth while talking about perfect combinations. I'm surprised they didn't describe the couple as the chocolate to her peanut butter while they were at it.

  11. Definitely transparent. I hate that there's no seamless integration. The stuff they're hawking sticks out like a sore thumb every time. They love car product placement on USA and The CW and you can't watch an episode of Rizzoli & Isles or Franklin & Bash on TNT without seeing bottles of Blue Moon everywhere.

  12. It used to be so subtle but now yikes! They even have actors from the show hawking the products in ads right before it's shown in the episode. Teen Wolf not only has a word of the week every episode but they now have a candy of the week as well as the ever present Nike. Oh and beware the Prius on Warehouse 13. I live in fear of Claudia busting out the theme song every time she mentions how superior her super cool, now comes with Pandora, vehicle is

  13. Oh, gawd. I forgot about the incessant hawking on W13. The only way it could be any more blatant is if they were doing in-show commercials like they did when TV was still shot in black and white.

  14. Ha! That is exactly what I was thinking too. Don't forget your Malt-O-Meal.
