* Barry Allen will be introduced in Episodes 8 and 9 of Arrow Season 2
(opening Oct. 9), as a forensics scientist working for the Central City police
department — “just an ordinary man,” said Kreisberg. “That’s how the
audience will get to know him before life gets a little bit faster.” Barry will
also appear in Episode 20, a formal backdoor pilot more focused on this new
character (and possibly planting fun Easter eggs along the way).
* Addressing the sticky wicket of creating The Flash in a world that has purposely been established as free of superpowers, Kreisberg said, “Part of the fun is for the audience is to go on that ride and see how we do our ‘Arrow take’ on the Flash legacy. Some of it will feel very familiar, and some will feel different.” All that said, Johns asserted, “He does need powers to be The Flash.” And as such, Kreisberg added, “Our characters will react to the extraordinary changes to their world in a realistic way. These ‘powers’ wont be treated as commonplace.”

I don't watch arrow but I will watch episodes 8,9 and 20 and hope that the "spin-off" will be made and properly!
ReplyDeleteSo, if the 20 episode would be used as a spin-off to the Flash series, they could use the powers stuff without changing the focus on arrow, leave the focus on superpowers to Flash, the important is keeping the good job that's being doing in Arrow...

I kid, I kid. Still, as negative as I am, I do trust the Arrow writers. They've earned it.

Well at least they are keeping his job the same and not renaming the city he is in for whatever reason. Have they ever said why it was renamed from Star City to Starling City. The change was just so random and weird.
ReplyDeleteI really hope this opens the door for a few more super powered people on their show- I'm not saying everyone should have them, but if you take someone who has powers, take away their power and completely change everything about them.... You end up getting a different character (see Vertigo). I'd love it if they have an expanded universe with the tv shows, with potential for crossover.

ReplyDeleteWOOOT!!! I am glad that they're not going to completely shy away from superpowers, especially where the Flash is concerned. Maybe this means they'll allow Black Canary to have actual powers as well. Plus, it's great to hear that Barry will be showing up so soon!
ReplyDeleteI only saw a few eps of that show, but it seemed to have a lot of promise. In this day and age, with superheroes AND police procedurals being so popular, I think it will take off.

ReplyDeleteYeah, Vertigo was a disappointment; a thoroughly uninteresting character. Plus, he was horribly miscast. Sorry, Seth Gabel, we love you, but you're really not good at being evil.

ReplyDeleteYeah, it was like he was trying to do a combination between Scarecrow and The Joker from the Nolen series- and it came out ridiculous. My brother and I were cracking up the whole time. It would have been one thing if once he went crazy he acted that weird, but this was right off the bat and phony as hell. And he's a "Count", because he's like a vampire? What was wrong with his original backstory? At least it was interesting and different.

ReplyDeleteYeah, and what was with that fakey-disappearing-and-reappearing accent? It was just bad. Either do these comic book characters right, or don't use them at all. I wish they'd taken that advice to heart in regard to the Huntress, as well...
ReplyDeleteOh the Huntress, now there's a whole other can of worms. I know fans of her comic book character were really upset with her portrayal (not to mention the subpar acting).
ReplyDeleteI don't mind changing things, as long as the changes work and it's done well. With Vertigo and Huntress, it would have been better to not have them at all, than to warp them beyond recognition.
My speculation: he falls pray to a genetic enhancement experiment of one of the bad guys and that gives him his super powers...
ReplyDeleteExactly. It seems like they were rushed into the show far too quickly, especially Huntress. She's such a pivotal DC Comics character; you'd think they'd have taken the time to cast and develop her properly.
