Michael Vartan will be filling a key Bates Motel vacancy when the A&E thriller returns for its second season.

TVLine has learned exclusively that the Alias alum has been cast as a new romantic interest for Norma.

His recurring character, George, is a charming divorcé who catches Norma’s eye.

    This is exciting on so many levels! I love him and I love Vera Farmiga and I love Bates Motel, so this is great news, I just hope he sticks around and doesn't turn out to be another psycho...

    I'm really looking forward to seeing him again!!!! I hope he sticks around in the series, but being a love interest for Norma isn't very promising for his longevity. She tends to kill the men in her life. :(
