  5. hey where's kindred the embraced...on that list that was a great show..

  6. Buffy, because they didn't go too far with giving them powers.
The ones on TVD are great, but with their healing right away, their "magic blood" etc, they're too powerful.

  7. True Blood - until they didn't mess up their own mythology.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Buffy and Angel. The vampires can only get out at night and don't have a special daylight ring, they are not human unless they're cursed with a soul, and they have no reflection.

  9. Ooo nice one including Stephen King's vampires who I have to say were pretty scary. Also Buffy and Angel vampires because they included some of my favourites like Angel, Spike, Darla, The Master and good old crazy Dru. Would also vote for Being Human (UK) vamps making them more part of our world and making Hal and Mitchell forever struggle against their true nature.

  10. Vanpire Diaries, Vampire Diaries, Vampire diaries...ohhh and Buffy..these series have the better interpretation of the vampire mythology...and especially VD,where vampires don't have to be pale and plain, looking like little sparkling princesses...the VD vampires are hot and have really cool qualities/powers that make them even hotter...

  11. It´s no surprise that TVD and the Originals is as highly rated as Buffy and Angel. They rip off every storyline from Buffy and Angel.

  12. Underworld and Buffy & Angel.

  13. Underworld and Blade for sure.
Also, even though I'm not sure how many people are familiar with it yet,I like Vampire Academy's portrayal of vampires(I'm including all the different species).I think it's different and interesting.Definitely looking forward to the movie.

  14. Interview with the Vampire had the best vampire-y vampires, not just characters but blood-drinking, only come out at night mythology of vampires. Blade was cool, but the mythology wasn't my favorite. For characters it's harder, Buffy/Angel obviously had fantastic characters. But it was pretty easy to separate Angel from being a vampire, his curse was the most defining characteristic for me.

  15. Buffy. I don't usually like vampire shows and movies. But I LOVE Buffy and Angel.

  16. Well, the outer appearances of vampires seems to be pretty important to you. ;-)

  17. There must be a lot of teens on this site because Vampire Diaries is winning. I don't see how that show appeals to anyone in there mid twenties.

  18. By the way where is Dracula that is by far the best vampire film, I also love Interview with the Vampire. True Blood was amazing during season 1, 2 and even 3.

  19. Buffy, TVD and True Blood

    totally agree!

  22. You forgot the old show Forever Knight! Iyt was set in Toronto, and was wonderful!

  23. MY favorite "vampire" series is a British series called Ultraviolet.
(Not the craptastic Mlila Jovovich movie of the same name)

I found it to be the most original V-series I have ever watched, partly because they never said "vampire" in the entire series! XD

It never hurts to have a cast with Idris Elba and Jack Davenport as your leads... and oh yeah, a very young Stephen Moyer playing a vampire back in 1998 more than a decade before he portrayed Bill the vampire on True Blood!

    As far as movies go...
I like a lot of vampire movies, but some of my favoites...
    - Let the Right One In (preferred slightly over US remake Let Me In)
    - Shadow of the Vampire
    - 30 Days ofNight
    -The Addiction
    - Near Dark
    - Lost Boys
    - Cronos
    - The Hunger

  24. Buffy, of course. But I also kind of love how the vampires explode in True Blood haha. Gory? Yes. Unnecessary? Perhaps. But it's cool to watch sometimes.

  25. Blood Ties was filmed in Toronto too, right?

  26. As an Anne Rice fan I always liked her vampires and the way she writes her supernatural beings in a very descriptive and historical way. So I will always love the film," Interview with the Vampire" (I wish someone would adapt the whole vampire chronicles/Mayfair witches into a TV series!)

I also like True Blood, because of the modern social justice set mostly within the southern-back woods stereotype setting, along with it's extreme campiness. (I have yet to read the books)

The I like both versions of "Let the Right One In"/"Let Me In" and the Japanese film, based on the anime, "Blood the Last Vampire". Stephen King's are also pretty scary...Little Sisters of Eluria = AHHHHHHH!

I also love the various vampire manga from Narumi Kakinouchi and Toshiki Hirano such as Vampire Princess Miyu, but there has never been a film made, but an animated series, which is "ok", but I like the Manga better.

  27. Boris Karloff!

  28. What,no Boris,the king of vampires,hahaha! ;)

  29. I agree with you. I´m also a fan of Anne Rices books and would love to see more of her books filmed (movie or series). I love her vampires, they are all interesting characters. Her descriptions has always made me want to go to New Orleans.

True Blood books were also good in the start, as was the series, but sadly I have lost interest in the show.

  30. Buffy/Angel and the Vampire Diaries/The Originals

    ReplyDelete
  31. out of the ones that I have seen/know enough about, I'd have to go with Buffy/Angel and Blade mostly due the fact that with few rare exceptions, vampires are truly evil demons of the night that can't develop humanity and don't have the loopholes of getting mystical daylight rings or worse, sparkle in the sun and brood lol.....

    ReplyDelete
  32. I actually don't know what you're referring too!? XD

    ReplyDelete
  33. Re Ultraviolet: Thanks very much for the tip. Idris Elba + Jack Davenport? I am so in. Now I just have to find it ...

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't know about my favorite but I loathe the vampires on Buffy despite it being one of my top favorite shows of all time.

Moonlight has a craptastic concept of vampires too but again itself was not a bad show.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't know that show but will look for it- was it good?

    ReplyDelete
  36. It has a small cult following for whatever that's worth. XD

It was interesting as I recall. I liked the leads Christina Cox and Kyle Schmid. IT had its own mythology that I found different enough to be fun, but not so different it was just silly like some vampire shows.

I honestly never saw the entire series though. I caught half the first season on some channel during a late night marathon a few years back. I keep meaning to rent the DVDS or watch it on Netflix etc...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Selene (UNDERWORLD) I do believe she made a terrific vampire.

    ReplyDelete
  38. i just watched the first ep- this show was based on a YA novel trilogy, but now i can't remember the author or book titles, :( they were good reads though, so i guess i'll watch the rest of the series now. FWIW, the same author wrote another book, title not remembered, with one great line: "There's no such thing as "just a cat! "

  39. Write-in vote for Dark Shadows.

I'm 23 and i love TVD! i hate when people say its a teenie show because its simply NOT! Maybe it was in the beginning but it grew up!! .. people who think its still just a teenie show obviously don't know the show

Definitely Vampire Diaries!! And Being Human (UK)

  43. I like Interview with a Vampire the most, it's one of the more interesting backgrounds for vampire. The downside it that they don't really have anything to compete with them so they're pretty OP. TVD tv vs books I was a little disappoint because they don't really go into how powerful they are in the show. Guess they're too busy with the whiny love triangle

    ReplyDelete
  44. Buffyverse, "Interview with a Vampire" and Blade.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Buffy and Angel, definitely, especially because that's what I grew up with. And TVD is a close 2nd.

Buffy and Angel obviously had the best vampires in tv shows and in movies it's Interview with a Vampire..

  47. Martin Kemp from Embrace of the Vampire mainly because he was trying to bed the unbelievably sexy Alyssa Milano and make her his wife.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Boris was 'The' Vampire' many years ago, scaring kids so much they didn't want to go to bed....Guess its outdated compared to the vampires of today...
