Update: 3rd July Nominations are now closed. We will be collating the responses and starting the competition very shortly.
Update: We're closing in on 1000 nominations now guys. Fantastic stuff. Keep spreading the word to get more people picking their favourites!
Also, 24 counts as a current show, as it's back from cancellation!
In 2010 a competition set SpoilerTV alight. Thousands of fans helped two Winchester brothers beat the Salvatore brothers to walk away with the title.
In 2011 Supernatural were pushed all the way in an epic two day battle that saw over 20,000 people help narrowly beat Fringe to claim a second title in a row.
In 2012 a new victor emerged, as Richard Castle stole the title away from the people of Storybrooke in a record breaking contest..
The battle is about to begin.
But first we need your help.
Out of the thousands of TV series there are, old and new, great or poor, we need just 64.
You can vote for your favourite two current TV series, and your favourite two finished TV series. The top 32 current TV series and the top 32 finished TV series will make the final 64, which will begin on July 1st 2013.
You have until June 24th to enter your submissions in the form below.
Remember, a current TV series is any show that has aired/will air new episodes after 1st June 2013. A finished TV series is any show that had aired its final episode by 1st June 2013. Therefore a show like Fringe would now be a finished TV series, whilst Game of Thrones would be classed as current.
One show I feel it worth to highlight. Arrested Development is being counted as a current TV series, as even though it aired all of Season 4 on May 26th, there is no reason to confirm one way or the other that the show is finished as of that date. If anyone knows of any other shows that are worth highlighting which category they fall under, then let me know by email (adamdharris@spoilertv.com) or on twitter (@AdDHarris)
NOTE: Only 1 Submission per person. If you try to submit multiple times ALL your submissions will be removed
Don't forget to cast your votes, spread the word of the competition, and most of all, tell us who you voted for in the comments below.
It's back. It's going to be bigger than ever.
Here we go....

ReplyDeleteCurrent - Castle, NCIS
ReplyDeleteFinished - The X-Files, JAG
current; breaking bad and suits!
ReplyDeletefinished; lost and fringe.
omg so excited!!! been waiting so long for this, i was away last year and missed the whole thing, was so surprised to see a new victor crowned.
ReplyDeleteit hurts not being able to nominate fringe as a current show this year but its top of my list for finished shows, paired with LOST (i'm currently watching LOST again (for the 4th time) and it's still so good)
current shows, my first nomination goes, as always, to supernatural. it may have decilned slightly in its quality over the years but its still much better (IMO) than a lot of other shows out there.
second nom went to arrow. constantly incredible television, it would hands down have been my favourite thing to watch each week this season (once fringe finished that is, and that was so long ago i barely remember it being in this season).
i have also just started watching game of thrones (yes i'm a bit behind) and loving it, but until i get a bit further in my two faves currently are supernatural and arrow
in case it got lost in all of that:
current: supernatural, arrow
finished: fringe, LOST
I voted for Supernatural and Bates Motel.
ReplyDeleteHannibal and Game of Thrones. Would usually vote for Supernatural, but quality declined. :/
ReplyDeleteCurrent: Supernatural and Castle
ReplyDeleteFinished: The X-Files and Veronica Mars
same here! :-)
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones and Hannibal
ReplyDeleteLost and Twin Peaks
The past 3 years I have tried to vote Justified in, but it never makes it anyway so this year I went with Hannibal instead. It is difficult to choose only 2 shows.
Is there any chance we could have prediction brackets for this as we used to have for the Lost best episode and best character thing? Thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking forward to this..
ReplyDeleteCurrent: Breaking Bad and Justified (i would have picked GoT but i guess it's going to get a lot of votes anyway)
Finished: The Wire and Lost
i voted for
ReplyDeleteCurrent: Game of Thrones and Falling Skies
Finished: LOST AND FRINGE
My votes...
ReplyDeleteCurrent: Castle and Defiance
Finished: The X-Files and Stargate SG-1
I voted for:
ReplyDeleteCurrent: Supernatural & Sherlock
Finished: LOST & House
Good luck to all shows!
Current - Game of Thrones and Once Upon A Time
ReplyDeleteFinished - Lost and Fringe
Lost Girl!! Valkubus all the way! Love Rachel Skarsten
ReplyDeleteSupernatural
ReplyDeleteChicago Fire
One Tree Hill
Veronica Mars
:)
Agreed! I feel the same love for Twin Peaks, Lost, Fringe, GoT, Justified, X-Files, OUAT, Community..., so different kinds of TV shows, every year it's more and more difficult to pick just two.
ReplyDeleteI'm changing my 75% of my picks compared to last year. I hope everyone does the same, so it'll be fun and unpredictible. Wouldn't that be fun ?
ReplyDeleteCurrent :
- Breaking Bad - I wanted to vote for another one, but I can't help it, it's the best show ever and the anticipation mounting in me when I think of the final 8 episodes couldn't be bigger.
- Raising Hope - I know its Chances are slim, but I wanted to vote for it because it was the funniest comedy on TV this past season imo. Perfect cast and perfect blend of meta/zany well-written humour.
Finished :
- 30 Rock - I voted for this staple of smart comedy that left us this year on one of its best seasons.
- SouthLAnd - same here, I'm voting for a dearly beloved show that was just too good to be popular.
Finished: Lost (!!!!) and Battlestar Galactica. Honorable Mention goes to Prison Break
ReplyDeleteCurrently Airing: The Walking Dead for sure. The second one was terribly hard to pick because I don't really have one, it varies a lot. I went with Revenge but I could have gone with a number of different ones really
Fringe and Life for shows ended Games of Thrones and Elementary
ReplyDeleteCurrent shows are ridiculously difficult. I have to choose from CSI, Elementary, NCIS, NCIS L.A., Hawaii Five-0, Person of Interest, Arrow and Nikita. Also, Adam tells me that 24 counts as a current show. Hmm. Have to go Arrow as it's the show that during the 2012/13 season where I looked forward to EVERY episode. I've recently got into POI, and I love it. POI is my second pick.
ReplyDeleteFinished shows have to be FRIENDS and CSI Miami. That was easy.
Woo hoo! It's my favorite time of year on SpoilerTV. This contest has always been fun. Thank you Adam for continuing. Since this contest includes past series I always look at the series as a whole even if it is a current show. Therefore, while season 8 sucked out loud of Supernatural, SPN still gets my vote because overall it is still my favorite TV series. The second nomination was difficult though because there are so many shows I love. Arrow, Grimm, Burn Notice, White Collar, Teen Wolf, Person of Interest, and Defiance made my short list, but to narrow that list down was difficult.
ReplyDeleteAs with current shows, the first nomination was easy. The second, impossible. Leverage gets my first vote. I miss that show terribly and I hope it makes it into the contest. The Parker, Eliot, and Hardison trio may be my favorite combination on TV now that the Winchester brothers have been sidelined and screwed with. Oh to see one more caper. The second nomination always gets me because there has been so much great TV out there. Fringe, Buffy, X-Files, Roswell, Everwood, and Veronica Mars all sprung instantly to mind. Again so hard to choose.
Current:
ReplyDelete1. Dexter
2. Person of Interest
Ended:
1. Lost
2. Fringe
How could I have forgotten Monk. That should have made my short list too. I love doing mini Monk marathons.
ReplyDeleteArrrow would have been on my short list if for nothing but the season finale alone. It was simply the best hour of TV I have watched this year. Can't wait to see what they do with season 2.
ReplyDeleteI have just started Justified but I can definitely see how people have gotten hooked on this series.
ReplyDeleteIf I remember right, they tried to have them for the Favorite Show (by the way Adam thanks for changing it from Best Show and its endless argument) last year but could never get it to work with the system. It delayed the contest a couple of weeks before they chucked it in order to get started.
ReplyDeleteAnother Defiance fan. Woo hoo! I am really enjoying that series.
ReplyDeleteI also didn't nominate Fringe because I know it will have no problem getting into the contest. If luck has it like all previous times, it will go up against another show I love in the first round though.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for your answer, always nice! Pitty about that though!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking about giving it a try soon as well.
ReplyDeleteIs Justified a procedural or a serial?
ReplyDeleteI agree about Arrow's season finale, it was mind blowing awesome. I wouldn't go with best hour of TV from the year, but it was very very high up there, it was incredible
ReplyDeleteJustified has the most amazing actors. Even the small parts are very well cast.
ReplyDeleteNice picks! Wish more people were watching Justified. Truely a great show.
ReplyDeleteme too
ReplyDeleteThus far it is a procedural but its characters are the real draw anyway.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Raylan's stepmom/aunt or whatever she really is has really impressed me even though she hasn't been in it a lot. I like the one-time guest characters so far too.
ReplyDeletethanks
ReplyDeleteThe constant action and movie quality production of Arrow's season finale made it the best for me. Add to it the moving death scene and I felt sucker punched in the very best way from the finale. No other episode this year had that affect on me.
ReplyDeleteI really like the father-daughter bond between Nolan and Irisa and the issues it sometimes causes because they are not of the same race and Irisa's difficult childhood. Generally it's action and plot first for me, but this relationship has sucked me in. I also like the whole post-Apocalyptic setting but I am a sucker for dystopias so that's a given. There is a mytharc that is slowly being unraveled along with the procedural elements so there is a little something for everyone.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great comments!
ReplyDeleteThe death scene had me all the way as well. And I love this chaotic situations like the one they had going, so it really did it for me too
ReplyDeleteThanks. Your picks are some of my favourite shows as well. I can't say i'm surprised that Justified isn't nearly as popular as it should be since it's the kind of show that doesn't get a lot of attention unfortunately, like The Wire. Personally i've had some success in convincing some of my friends to watch it recently and they loved it. Also surprisingly, it has just started airing on TV in my country so i'm curious to see if it's going to find an audience or not.
ReplyDeleteIt´s still not airing in Denmark as far as I know. It is a shame. Too much reality TV and way too little quality shows.
ReplyDeleteWell at least you have Borgen which is a great show.
ReplyDeleteYep, POI,LOST and Fringe! Who is that in your avatar?
ReplyDeleteTrue! Danish shows are pretty good in general. :-)
ReplyDeleteSelecting only two shows was hard
ReplyDeleteCurrent: HIMYM and TBBT
Finished: Friends and Heroes
She's a former character (Vampire Queen of Louisiana Sophie-Anne Lecerq) from True Blood. She was killed a couple of season's ago, but she's my favorite TB character ever!
ReplyDeleteI had a hard time choosing favorite current shows. I feel guilty about not choosing GOT, Orphan Black, Hannibal, Boardwalk Empire, Revolution, and Bates Motel!
Current: Person of Interest and Arrow. I never expected to like Arrow, but it's really good!
ReplyDeleteFinished: Spartacus and Merlin.
I didn't even bother to submit shows like Fringe, Homeland, Game of Thrones, etc, because I know they'll get through. I'm looking forward to this competition :D
Castle, Continuum, Fringe and Body of Proof (I really liked the last season)
ReplyDeleteI had to go with Castle & Orphan Black for current
ReplyDeleteBuffy the Vampire Slayer and Veronica Mars for the finished pair, although with the Veronica Mars movie being made does it still count as finished ???
Current: Orphan Black & Doctor Who.
ReplyDeleteFinished: Damages & X-Files.
Current: Sherlock and Grimm
ReplyDeleteFinished: Firefly and Friends
I really hope Grimm makes it into the contest. It and Teen Wolf are my current favorite genre shows. I'm so glad you decided to try it too....and in time for the finale. Kudos!
ReplyDeleteCurrent:
ReplyDeleteHannibal & The Good Wife
Finished:
Fringe & Damages
it's a jungle out there!
ReplyDeleteI haven't finished season 4 yet, but I usually binge on Justified in huge 1-2 day marathons. :D
ReplyDeleteCurrent Series
ReplyDeleteOrphan Black & Arrow
Finished Series
The Sopranos & M*A*S*H
Castle and Psych; The Closer and Leverage
ReplyDeleteSo happy someone else nominated Leverage. I really miss that show.
ReplyDeleteCurrent series:
ReplyDeleteRevenge and GoT
Finished series:
Fringe and 30 Rock
I love Sherlock and Grimm so much :) Good choices!
ReplyDeleteCurrent - Falling Skies & Revolution
ReplyDeleteFinished - Eureka & Stargate Atlantis
Current: The Walking Dead and Hannibal. (i am amazed i picked Hannibal only b/c i was so sure it was going to be terrible, but Bryan Fuller did an AMAZING job)
ReplyDeleteFinished: Alphas(we need a movie or something just to finish that cliffhanger!) and Lie To Me which i always felt was way underrated.
Current: Being Human (US) and Teen Wolf, Finished: Veronica Mars and Life Unexpected
ReplyDeleteHopefully most of my other favourite current/finished shows will be nominated like Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, Castle, Bones, Beauty and the Beast, Arrow, (hopefully) Nikita, Buffy, Angel, Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, Smallville and The OC. Almost nominated Pretty Little Liars and Lying game but I love Teen Wolf and Being Human more =P. Veronica Mars may have been a bit wasted since a lot of people have started to watch it after the movie announcement (like me) but I love the show (on season 3).
Current shows: Castle and NCIS
ReplyDeleteFinished shows: LOST and Desperate Housewives
I'm excited to see what shows get into the competition! Can't wait! :D
Person of Interest and the Good wife, finished Lost.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural, The Vampire Diaries - Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Lost!!!
ReplyDeleteTough to choose just 4. Went for Game of Thrones and Arrow as current series and Lost and Firefly from ended ones.
ReplyDeleteHannibal and Vampire Diaries, Buffy(my favourite of all time!!!) and Angel!
ReplyDeleteCurrent - Game of Thrones & Hannibal
ReplyDeleteFinished - LOST and Fringe
Castle/Hannibal; Veronica Mars/Fringe
ReplyDeleteBwah! I do so love the theme song. It really sets the tone of the show.
ReplyDeleteFor me the sheer pace of the script was a winner. Even the lame Laurel being needy scene in the middle didn't drag the finale down because we got to move off it pretty quick. Not quickly enough but not so much that I was throwing socks at the screen.
ReplyDeleteI have been walking to it one episode a day. I'm still in season 1 but I may changed up and marathon season 2. Just ordered season 3 for my dad for Father's Day so I will probably borrow it after he's done. My dad is the one who finally convinced me to watch it.
ReplyDeleteYeah for the Teen Wolf nomination. I'm hoping it gets enough love to get into the contest. It is currently the show I am most psyched about probably because it is the show whose quality has most surprised me. As a fan of shows on the CW since it became the CW and the WB before that, I should know better than to judge a show by its network. Teen Wolf is sooo much better than anything that airs on MTV has a right to be.
ReplyDeleteCurrent - Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones
ReplyDeleteFinished - Chuck and Malcolm in the Middle
Current: Fringe & Dexter. (Fringe is considered to be "current", right?)
ReplyDeleteFinished: Lost & Oz.
current: games of thrones; hannibal
ReplyDeletefinished: fringe; battlestar galactica
current: The walking dead/Homeland
ReplyDeletefinished: Lost/Six feet under
Under last year's rules, it would have been considered a current series because it aired in the past TV season. This year the rules have changed and current means it will air episodes int eh next TV season or is airing new episodes right now. The paragraphs at the beginning explain the new rules.
ReplyDeleteThe rules changed this year. The paragraph at the beginning explains that Fringe is considered a finished show.
ReplyDeleteI voted Shondaland current and finished!!! Call me biased but i love Grey's Anatomy, Scandal and Private Practice and i threw in Happy Endings
ReplyDeleteWent for Supernatural and Prison Break
ReplyDeleteGreat picks, love all 4 shows.
ReplyDeleteI feel sad knowing that both Nikita and HIMYM will end next year.
ReplyDeleteOops. My bad. I read "January" instead of "June". Ha.
ReplyDeleteI figured that it'd be nice to get some more current current shows in there, and still have some recent and popular finished shows as well...
ReplyDeleteIt definitely gives the finished shows more of a shot. :-)
ReplyDeleteHopefully less spaces taken up by finished shows that are there just to make up the numbers as well...
ReplyDeleteCurrent - Scandal and Person of Interest
ReplyDeleteFinished - Friends and Desperate Housewives
I hope Person of Interest makes it in. I love how it combines procedural and serial elements and it has some of the most intriguing characters.
ReplyDeleteVery true. I almost wish they were 2 separate contests. It's hard to judge something that is finished against something going on right now and may get better or worse in time.
ReplyDeleteCurrent - Breaking Bad/ Nikita
ReplyDeleteFinished - Friends/Alias
Current: Sons of Anarchy and Parks and Recreation
ReplyDeleteFinished: One Tree Hill and Weeds
Beauty And The Beast!!!
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones and Dexter, Lost and Rome
ReplyDeleteI voted for :
ReplyDeleteCurrent ~ Revenge and Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast, Arrow, and Smash. Couldn't think of another cancelled show I would vote for.
ReplyDeleteTrying to give some shows enough votes to get into the competition:

current-Beauty and the Beast & Walking Dead
ReplyDeletefinished- Lost & The Closer
I voted for :-
ReplyDeletebeauty and the beast - arrow

When the competition will actually begin? I can't wait for it to start!
ReplyDeleteCurrent
ReplyDeleteThe Mentalist, Castle, Hannibal

ReplyDeleteCurrent Beauty and The Beast
ReplyDeletePast Smallville
