Well, this is a shame: Justin Chatwin‘s
Shameless days are done.
The Showtime drama’s executive producer John Wells revealed the casting shocker Tuesday night at a TV Academy Emmy panel, announcing that the actor’s beloved alter ego Jimmy will not return for Season 4.
A rep for the series later expanded upon Wells’ initial remarks, telling The Hollywood Reporter that Chatwin “could return for one or two episodes” next season.
Chatwin’s Jimmy — who’s been part of Shameless since its pilot as Fiona’s love interest — was last seen seemingly marching to his watery grave at the behest of a thug employed by his secret wife’s drug lord father. (As reported by TV Guide Magazine‘s Rob Moynihan, Wells confirmed during the panel that Jimmy did in fact die.)

a couple months back i got all up to date with the show now i will admit this took me for surprise but...I'm not that disappointed at all. since the first season we all knew Jimmy+Fionna weren't gonna have a happy ending...
ReplyDeleteSo... That means that Jimmy really died :O
ReplyDeleteThat is horrible news. One of the few reasons why I still watched the show.
ReplyDeleteThat "death" is one of those "pit in your stomache" type deals. It wasn't a narrative thing, they clearly had some discussions or disagreements and came to this conclusion well after it was shot.
ReplyDeleteOne hopes they realize how gross and unsatisfying it is and bring Chatwin in for real closure.
It's fairly obvious that he's sleeping with the fishes. :P
ReplyDeleteWell that just sucks!
ReplyDeleteOh, Shameless US is one of my favourite shows right now and i really liked Jimmy... I hope he returns for at least 2 episodes of Season 4 and back as a regular on Season 5...
ReplyDeleteActually i'm more concern about Lip, if he is going out to MIT maybe he will be written off too next Season... I was pretty bumed when they fucked up his relationship with Mandy, but i hope they give us a bit of Lip's College life.
Great!! I don't like him
ReplyDeleteBummer, but I've been ready to move on from the Jimmy/Steve storyline for some time now. It'll be good to see Fiona in a different light now
ReplyDeleteHow could he return in Season 5 when his character has been killed off?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see Jimmy go, he was a selfish douche last season, all that sneaking around on Fiona. All he had to do was tell her the truth, she would have been mad but I think they would've gotten through it. Instead he just kept digging the hole deeper & deeper there really was no other way it was going to end.
ReplyDeleteWow. After all they invested with him and Fiona? Seems way, way too early to let Jimmy go especially in the way it happened? Don't like it all at... feels like so much quality Fiona/Jimmy dynamics/growth completely wasted and, personally, I thought Jimmy was awesome for the show and Fiona.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty complicated. And if he told Fiona anything, he would be putting her into further jeopardy. I respect your opinion on disliking Jimmy. But the Fiona/Jimmy dynamic was really good for the show and now seems like it was nearly a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteHope they're not going to hook her up with her boss... don't like him at all. Need a new character/love interest IMO... whether man or woman.
ReplyDeleteIan stole Lip's identity though so I wonder if that will hinder his chance at college.
ReplyDeleteCause i believe that if he returns it means that he didn't die ¬¬
ReplyDeleteI don't see Shameless being a show in which a dead character returns as a ghost... If he went into the boat and then retuns for 2 episodes that means he didn't die... That was implied... ¬¬
Well, Season 2 was all over the summer. so maybe S4 is gonna be just like that... Idk, i believe that Ian's con will be wrap up on the premier...
ReplyDeleteTotally a possibility. I can absolutely see that.
ReplyDeleteWell, this means, I won't be tuning in to see season 4. I was always a huge fan of Steve/Fiona's romance/chemistry. They were the draw for me. After how the writers treated Steve, I see no reason to watch the show. They basically destroyed his character...Justin is an amazing actor. So I hope he'll find another show real soon.
