I want to like this show but the writers are really struggling with pacing. They're trying to tell not just an A and B story but a C also and it's really clunking up episodes. Let the character background and growth be part of the plot, not just randomly inserted into the story. It's jarring. :(
I also think having the three stories seems to stretch the budget a bit too... some things look really cool whereas look cheap. The show gets a great from me.. it could be awesome with a bit of fine tuning but the pieces are just not falling into place.
I understand and agree that Nolan needs to be a loving, understanding and tolerant father. Raising a child under those circumstances would be next to impossible at best and it looks like he has done a good job generally. But regardless of the rationale best intentions; any kid of mine acts in the manner that we saw in this episode WOULD GET THEIR ASS KICKED!!!
Yes, I agree. I really think it can be wonderful as it's got a great world, great cast, and the writing is good but it's just like they're trying to cram too much in too soon. The pilot so far has been the strongest episode as far as flow, pacing, etc. Since then it seems like they're just not quite found their footing. I voted great also because I do like the show.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteSo...you want it all laid on the table right from the beginning and no character progression? Good luck with that.
ReplyDeleteYes...because that's exactly what I said. *facepalm*
ReplyDeleteHmm. Simple mistake. When you said "plot" I saw "pilot". Apologies.
ReplyDeletegot an A from me, if for nothing else than Stahma and Kenya sexiness.
