    I think Benedict Cumberbatch is a little busy at the moment, you know, with a couple minor roles :P But he'd be great as the Doctor too :)

    Actually, i kind of like the idea of Rupert Grint... Don't know why, but he could work out well. I'm not a fan of the Harry Potter movies(I think that, except 1 and 2, all sucked), but i wouldn't be mad with that...


    But Johnny Lee Miller would be SPECTACULAR!!! But i like Elementary too, so... :P


    I'm by half of Season 4(David Tennant), watching it on Netflix... It's an incredible show! IDK what took me so long!


    The first episode i watched was The Eleventh Hour... I'm at super speed 'cause i want to reach Matt's Doctor with Amy and Rory!


    I will never forget: "Is this world protected? (Flash of Cybermen, Daleks, The Master, etc) Now ask yourself this question: What Happened to them? (Flash of the Doctors) Hi, I'm The Doctor..."


    That part sold me the show... So badass against that Giant Eyeball!

    Someone with sex appeal, I'm really enjoying that aspect of the show, while Chris was brilliant, I loved Ten and Smith for their obvious attractiveness, as vain as it is, I quite like that about the past few years vs old who.

    I would love to see Robert Carlyle play The Doctor much in the same vain he plays Mr. Gold (not Rumplestiltskin... or not much) on OUAT. Unfortunately, he is on OUAT which means he probably won't be available.


    I don't think Moffat will hire anyone who isn't a white male, though.

    A young(ish) female with red hair - so he gets to be ginger, but not quite how he expected. And generally the Doctor seems to get younger with each regeneration so I'm thinking mid-late 20's.

    I mean, it could only come off as a stunt. The character is a man, he identifies as a man. He has, in spite of what classic Whovians might wish, a sexual identity. It would be far too much of a "look at what we did" thing than an actual, reasonable casting choice.

    If they had the right actress it wouldn't necessarily come off as a stunt.... and they've established the Doctor's sexual identity is not necessarily straight & narrow ie. flirting with Jack, flirting with aliens of undetermined sex etc. And they've never really explored relationships on Gallifrey.

    Damien Molony would be pretty great but I want a different kind of Doctor.

    Lets face it Helen Mirren, JLM, Robert Carlyle are not possible candidates, if they got Mirren it would be for one season only and a waste and the other two are regulars in other tv shows. Cumberbatch won't do it, he has a movie career.

    I think tha someone like Roy Kinnear or Ben Daniels has a better chance, they are well etablished but not huge.

    Like the idea of Adrian Lester. Would really love a black Doctor or a female one. Screw tradition.

    No one guessed Matt Smith though so I will be surprised if any of the rumours

    Jim Broadbent would be fantastic as an older Doctor. He's got a great range as an actor and he can pull off being whimsical despite his age. He was great in Cloud Atlas.

    I think they should go with a slightly older doctor again... Henry Ian Cusick is a name I've seen mentioned around and I agree with... But I think it would be good for them to go with a relatively unknown actor to play the part.

    Lalla Ward played a big character in an episode and she returned in the next serial as the new incarnation of Romana. Playing a previous character on the show, no matter how big or small, is not an issue with Doctor Who.

    Right. Romana tried on bodies of males, females, and aliens when trying to figure out what body she wanted when she changed from Mary Tamm to Lalla Ward. She very much identified as female as Romana I, too, and had no problem giving a male body a try.

    Why do people keep choosing famous people? Both David and Matt were relatively unknown when they were cast. Damien is not well-known (apart from Being Human fans) and is a great actor.

    In the Karen Gillan case she was pretty much unrecognizably painted and in Freema they played it off as a relative. I realize you do have the Lalla Ward precedent but I'd say they have at least implied the Doctor doesn't have that sort of control on his regens. Having said all of that even a moderately major character from a single episode 5 years ago I wouldn't think would be a major issue to just quietly ignore. You already had the 6th Doctor actually in a 5th Doctor episode where he shot the Doctor, though that was an exceedingly minor part.

    In fairness to John Simm I think most of the horridness of the new Master was RTDs fault. Every credit for getting the show restarted but RTD penned some of the worst episodes of the series.

    That's why I said I hated the Master RTD wrote. I saw an interview with Simm, and it was obvious he wasn't too happy with it, either. He stated, "I played the role exactly how it was written on the page and in the direction I received." Not Simm's fault, but RTD almost ruined one of my favorite DW characters. The only RTD episode I liked, maybe even loved, was "Midnight". One of my favorites to rewatch from the whole RTD Era.

    Honestly? Didn't mind Simms Crazy!Master (at least beyond the human eating and unexplained super powers of The End of Time), because I could never take the Master seriously in the classic series.

    Roger Delgado and Anthony Ainley were pretty good actors, but they were still portraying a goatee'd braggart villain - which was a beaten down cliche in 1975, is now complete self-parody.

    Firstly, no no no to the big name actors which includes my partner wanting to see Christopher Walken in the role. Secondly, I'd like someone older in the role. Matt Smith is just a replacement David Tennant and getting away from that 'sex object' image would weed out all the sexed up fangirls who only watch so they have something to perv at. Also, a little variety in the companions please, enough of the swooney female companions thanks, there have been male companions in the past, perhaps a return of Captain Jack. When Matt's Doctor first met Amy she was a little girl and I kinda liked that idea, the Doctor in a sort of protective father type role. Oh and finally, sayonara Moffat if it's all right.
