To be fair about Arrow, Felicity was supposed to be a minor recurring character until midway through the season when the producers decided they were impressed with the actress and character enough to basically make her a series regular.
If I had to pick someone, Alexis from Castle. She seemed to have a more diminished role.
a lot of good choices here but this one has to go to astrid (and broyles and nina too). it was our finale season and we barely saw her!!! at least she got a proper goodbye with walter. also would have liked to see more of jefferson in OUAT, diggle in arrow, troy in community (i felt we had too much abed/jeff/britta/chang) and crowley in supernatural (and maybe cas but too much cas can not always be a good thing)
While I think Felicity Smoak is a terrific character who deserves more time, theres not much I think they coulda did to implement her into more scenes.
My choices would be- The Newsroom - Neal Sampat or Lonny Church Castle - Alexis Psych - Buzz or Woody Supernatural - Charlie
Be interesting to see a poll of characters people wanted to see LESS of. I'm sure Shaw from Person Of Interest or Sophie on 2 Broke Girls would win, just wonder what other ones people would pick.
definitely jefferson. he was only in the first few episodes and then it's like they forgot that he even existed... also pretty bummed that ruby/red didn't appear in much of OUAT season 2 since she was billed as a 'regular', or that grumpy had a lot of screen time without talking about nova/astrid (i know that amy acker is now on POI, but surely grumpy can at least drop in the name and an explanation as to their reunion etc. so that we know she is not forgotten)... same goes for characters like sydney glass, cinderella, hansel and gretel, abigail and fredrick etc...
Agree completely. I love hook but couldn't vote for him here. He got plenty of screen time, especially compared to a lot of characters who showed up in maybe 1, 2 or no episodes this season
Plus, Castiel and Dean need more screen time together because they have a chemistry that no other characters can beat. It's a waste not to take advantage of that.
I wish there was more Jefferson in Once Upon a Time but he's busy so.. the character I think missed the most development in Once is not Hook nor Belle but Ruby. I can't believe they just let her go the way they did and didn't even bother to integrate her to more storylines.
As for Arrow, looking back I think I missed more Thea and Tommy in some episodes, but I think they included Felicity in as many scenes as they could and frankly, I enjoyed her development and the development of the Arrow team. I think the show massively improved from episode 1.14, where she found out Oliver's secret, and I'm glad we'll see more of her next season. As for TVD, I missed more Jeremy, and now I think I'll miss more Bonnie..
1. William Bell - Fringe. Although I am SO grateful that Mr. Nimoy came out of retirement twice for Bad Robot (Fringe, Star Trek), I think a season 5 appearance and somehow stringing him with the Observers intentions would have made season 4 more relative and would have helped add onto Olivia's and Walter's story, as in some ways, I think Olivia's story was a little neglected in season 5.
2. August -OUAT - For Emma's season 1 Story, he seemed like such an integral part of her character development and even mythology relating to Henry's book that it would have been nice if he was used sooner to continue to gives insights into Emma, who's story this season become (perhaps intentionally) more insignificant...
I really don't have many other scrooples with lack of appearances. Just because I like characters like Jefferson, Dr. Whale, Astrid, Nina Sharp, Nick Lane, ect I know that they were not necessarily in telling the stories told.
agreed about Sophie! wow she's just annoying lol and agreed about Felicity! I love to see more of her but there was no room for that this season! and yeah I want more Alexis, Buzz, Woody and Charlie too! :)
SPN Sam & Dean in scenes together. It was an actual policy of the writers to write them separately, probably to give Jared & Jensen time off. And it was extremely annoying.
Olivia got shafted in the final season of Fringe. She was so neglected that I don't have energy to be upset over Astrid, Broyles and Nina being underused.
Of the choices, I was torn between Astrid in Fringe and Felicity in Arrow. Most definitely NOT Cas in Supernatural. He will have more than enough time next season.
wtf Dean and Sam have more than enough screen time in every episode, seeing them glued to each other for the whole duration of it would be boring like heck. I love the dynamics added when every brother is teamed up with different characters, specially the chemistry between Misha and Jensen makes the interactions between Dean and Cas the best thing of the show, hands down. So my vote is for Castiel (with more screen time with Dean)
Agreed. The same could be said of Dean and Sam Winchester in Supernatural this season. Some of my favorite characters had a lot of technical screen time this year, but they were often used as wallpaper and seat fillers. I would have liked Astrid to be more a part of the action instead of in the background.
And even when they were in scenes together, they were often watching the action from the sidelines or sniping at each other and on different pages. True brother time was in rare supply and most missed.
I voted for Cary Agos. I think as. Character he had a lot of growing to do this season and he did that mostly in the background. I would have also voted for Kalinda Sharma because she had absolutely nothing to do this season except that dreadful husband storyline at the beginning of the season.
My thoughts align with yours as well. When we did get some winchesters in the spotlight it was only for some contrived soapy moment... Unfortunately that means that I enjoyed this season primarily due to the new and/or other characters they had this season. It's almost a catch 22 for me.
The sad thing is the Astrid issue was a series long event that had her perennially stuck in the fringe lab doing something random only to get one or two lines in here and there. :/
Very true. I remember thinking that if anyone was going to die it would be Astrid because she was the main character with the least actual tie to the events. I am pleased she made it through the whole series but many times the character was wasted.
I didn't even need to read past the first option. Astrid! Loved her and wished she got to do more in the final season, but at least she lived and is (hopefully) happy.
I have to tell you i was shocked when you told me about Supernatural. That was the last thing i ever thought i would hear you say.I just wanted you to know how sorry i felt,it had to have been a hard decision to come to after all this time... At least its on your own terms, and when you do pick it up again i hope you find the joy in it once again...
I also thought William Bell would of made an appearance in S5,but since they did make that connection of Bell and the Observers maybe they didn't have enough time (or money for special effects) to tell that part of the story? If they only had a full season......
I was thinking of Nina and honestly i can't complain. Her part this season was pure perfection, she shined. Wish i could say the same for Astrid..
There can never be enough Cary Agos on The Good Wife. I'm excited to see more of him next season with Alicia branching out. I also really felt the lack of Castiel this season on Supernatural, though it made sense for him to be absent a lot of that time. I know that's not a problem for a good deal of fans on this site, but I miss the nerd angel when he's not around haha
I voted for Astrid. I understand that there was lack of time, but I would love to have seen more of her. Also the alt world. I missed red verse on the 5th season. :( I would also say Tina, on Glee (aside from the characters like Sugar who are completely forgotten about on the show) since she should now be leading the Glee Team, not just in the background.
Amen. I seriously worry for S9, especially for Dean's story. They now have to write for 3 "human" characters, and someone is getting shorted with these writers.
Sam, even when they mangle his story, still has his own. Cas I predict, will be the main story in S9. Dean, they have clearly shown in this last half season, only has a passive story, as he watches things happen to Sam & Cas. It will take much better writers to juggle these 3 balls in the air, without dropping one to lay there on the floor all season [except for a clever one-off or two, with "original" guest characters they can watch instead.]
They had tons of screen time... watching eveyone else do things instead of them, and rarely together in the room at the same time. It was "boring like heck" for you precisely because they don't really try to write active stories for the brothers anymore.
Don't go assuming what's boring for others. I had to quit watching season 7 after they killed everybody else off because only the two brothers doing the same thing every episode, well that was boring for me, and annoying, the show was getting stagnant. Keeping them isolated didn't work for a lot of people. If it wasn't for Castiel's return I wouldn't have bother with the show any longer. I liked most of season 8 because there was a variety of new characters interacting with the brothers, making things much more interesting. It was refreshing for once not seeing the two same characters glued to each other and letting new people in their lives.
More Sam and Dean together but I think they got the balance of guest stars (Crowley, Kevin, Charlie, Garth, Abadon, Cas, Metatron) about right. I just wish some of the MOTW episodes had been stronger and there were a couple of times where cannon and common scense went out the window. I like Sam and Dean together, their scenes together were the strongest of the season especially in the second half of the season. Sam and Dean are in a good place now, lets hope they stay that way and JC doesnt decide they need more fake bullshit conflict that doesnt even make sense and isnt written well.
Castiel obviously, with more scenes with Dean because their interactions together are pure magic and the few we enjoyed this season were the most intense and brilliant. It was a shame Cas was in so very few episodes, I was thrilled when I heard Misha will be a regular next season, but I hope that means Dean and Cas will have more onscreen time together, because if Cas is left mostly on his own, it will be a waste and that's not something I will watch.
My point wasn't to question what you find interesting. It was to point out that the writers stopped trying to write interesting things for the brothers to do together, and that is why it is boring for some.
(I find it hilarious that castiel fans want even more of him? What more do you want? He already usurped Sam's role as lead character and seasons 5 to 6 suffered from over-exposure to him)
OUAT Ruby/Red. It's a huge shame that she wasn't in much this season (esp her absence in the finale) that I can't blame the actress for taking a new role in Intelligence show. She's talented and deserves better.
Bonnie in VD. She was completely underused and mistreated by the writers and the last two episodes of the season for her storyline wise actually disgusts me. I think pretty much every character on this poll needed more screen time, with the exception of Cary Agos in The Good Wife, Cho in The Mentalist (don't watch either), David Rosen in Scandal (don't like him) and Castiel for Supernatural (the sole reason I don't watch the show anymore.)
Tina and Artie (Glee), they are the last two from the "original" club, they deserved more space and time to shine, plus Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale are full of talent..
I can get Jefferson as an OUAT choice (although I think most people know that it wasn't a writer's decision, but the actor's simply not available), but Hook? He had a character centric episode early on, did some evil meddling with various characters throughout the season and the finale was very Hook centric. There are so many other characters on OUAT who had way less than him although they deserved more.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Astrid, Broyles and Nina in Fringe though I understand a lot of the reasons why they didn't was budgetary.
ReplyDeleteEvan Marks, Beauty And The Beast!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOf course my baby in trenchcoat :)
ReplyDeleteEvan Marks, Beauty And The Beast!!!
ReplyDeleteLexie Grey
ReplyDeleteHG Wells from WH13.
ReplyDeleteI think the winner here is obvious, we want more Cas, in the bunker, together with Sam&Dean! (I really hope TPTB pay attention to these polls).
ReplyDeleteMy little tree topper..go Cas.
ReplyDeleteMartha from castle. There can never be enough martha
ReplyDeleteClaire on The Following.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair about Arrow, Felicity was supposed to be a minor recurring character until midway through the season when the producers decided they were impressed with the actress and character enough to basically make her a series regular.

Castiel, easily.
ReplyDeletedefinitely jefferson. he was only in the first few episodes and then it's like they forgot that he even existed... also pretty bummed that ruby/red didn't appear in much of OUAT season 2 since she was billed as a 'regular', or that grumpy had a lot of screen time without talking about nova/astrid (i know that amy acker is now on POI, but surely grumpy can at least drop in the name and an explanation as to their reunion etc. so that we know she is not forgotten)... same goes for characters like sydney glass, cinderella, hansel and gretel, abigail and fredrick etc...
ReplyDeleteJefferson - Once Upon a Time
ReplyDeleteThe knights in Merlin were the most seriously underused characters this year imo
ReplyDeleteEvan Marks, Beauty And The Beast
ReplyDeleteRachel - Revolution and Cho - The Mentalist:)
ReplyDeleteAstrid and probably Harrison, the former could have used more action screen time and the later could have been dismissed and nobody would have noticed
ReplyDeleteCatherine - Hawaii 5-0
ReplyDeleteRobert Kirkland- The Mentalist !!
ReplyDeleteAgree completely. I love hook but couldn't vote for him here. He got plenty of screen time, especially compared to a lot of characters who showed up in maybe 1, 2 or no episodes this season
ReplyDeleteCastiel always needs more screentime.
ReplyDeleteCastiel, every episode of supernatural without Castiel in it was a boring filler, he should be in every episode.
ReplyDeleteTyler on TVD .. his story ended way too soon :(
ReplyDeletePlus, Castiel and Dean need more screen time together because they have a chemistry that no other characters can beat. It's a waste not to take advantage of that.
ReplyDeleteOut of the shows i watch that are on this list i would have to say Astrid, she was barely in season 5.
ReplyDeleteDiane Lockhart - The Good Wife
ReplyDeleteAgree about Astrid and Nina.Broyles was shooting a movie during that time, that is why we saw so little of him...
ReplyDeleteCastiel. Happy to see that Misha is a regular next season :)
ReplyDeleteI wish there was more Jefferson in Once Upon a Time but he's busy so.. the character I think missed the most development in Once is not Hook nor Belle but Ruby. I can't believe they just let her go the way they did and didn't even bother to integrate her to more storylines.

As for TVD, I missed more Jeremy, and now I think I'll miss more Bonnie..
River Song - Doctor Who
ReplyDeleteCastiel for Supernatural and Red/Ruby for Once Upon A Time, they seriously messed with Meghan Ory this year :l
ReplyDelete1.

Sam Winchester - Supernatural
ReplyDeleteSam & Dean together was the rarest creature of the forest this season.
ReplyDeleteagreed about Sophie! wow she's just annoying lol and agreed about Felicity! I love to see more of her but there was no room for that this season! and yeah I want more Alexis, Buzz, Woody and Charlie too! :)
ReplyDeleteKol Mikaelson. there was no reason to kill him. that too in most failed logic way
ReplyDeleteElijah, Felicity and Astrid.
ReplyDeleteFunny, on the CBS connect thing they have & POI IMDB board, shes quite literally called every name under the sun that has a negative meaning.
ReplyDeleteMy time reading those boards would say its 15-1 negative to positive messages.
The faster CBS writes her off, the better. VERY FEW people LItolerated KE her on there, let alone LIKED her.
Supernatural, here. Although I am not a huge Castiel fan, his arc was important to the story line.
ReplyDeletewho the hell is Elija?? his name is Elijah!
ReplyDeleteSPN Sam & Dean in scenes together. It was an actual policy of the writers to write them separately, probably to give Jared & Jensen time off. And it was extremely annoying.
ReplyDeleteOlivia got shafted in the final season of Fringe. She was so neglected that I don't have energy to be upset over Astrid, Broyles and Nina being underused.
ReplyDeleteEthan from body of proof. i still think that they should of given Ethan a episode
ReplyDeleteChiming in with a few others: Ruby from OUAT. She was such a big part last season, especially in the flashbacks. Where'd she go this season?
ReplyDeleteYou can never have too much Elijah.
ReplyDeleteVoted other. Joe- Brian White from Beaury and the Beast.
ReplyDeleteOf the choices, I was torn between Astrid in Fringe and Felicity in Arrow. Most definitely NOT Cas in Supernatural. He will have more than enough time next season.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely and I don't mean screen time as wallpaper, which was their biggest role this season.
ReplyDeletewtf Dean and Sam have more than enough screen time in every episode, seeing them glued to each other for the whole duration of it would be boring like heck. ReplyDeleteMy vote goes to Cas <3 ... although if he hadn't been on the poll I'd have gone with Elijah(with an H, OP)
ReplyDeleteCary Agos. Most underused TGW character since season 2.
ReplyDeleteDr Frankenstein and Red from Once Upon a Time.
ReplyDeleteScandal's Capt Jake Ballard. I love this character!
ReplyDeleteI have to tell you i was shocked when you told me about Supernatural. That was the last thing i ever thought i would hear you say.I just wanted you to know how sorry i felt,it had to have been a hard decision to come to after all this time... 1000% Castiel! I'm so happy that Misha is a Season 9 regular and I hope that means we'll got lots of Cas, Dean, and Sam time next season!
ReplyDeleteSince Polldaddy.com polls NEVER take my votes: Belle from OUAT.
ReplyDeleteRuby! OUAT
ReplyDeleteAmen. I seriously worry for S9, especially for Dean's story. They now have to write for 3 "human" characters, and someone is getting shorted with these writers.
