Percy. While I understand that he had to die, Amanda just can't compare to him - she can't (or doesn't want to) see the bigger picture, concentrating her efforts on harming Nikita as much and in as many ways as possible. I never really cared for Sean. IMO, he was mama's boy first and Alex's boyfriend after that. His role in the latter capacity could've been easily performed by Owen.
Without a doubt, Sean. I watch Nikita ocassionaly and I don't read spoilers about it, so it was quite a shock they killed him off. And tbh, I was more than a bit ticked off by the fact that they keep on killing Alex's love interests.
Hands down Sean's death. The way the scene was written and the way the actors played it out, it was so heartbreaking. Thom's death was sad too, but I didn't feel the impact of it as much and Alex hadn't been in as deep of a relationship with him.
I'm torn between Sean and Thom. We obviously knew Sean much better and he meant a lot more to Alex, but part of me was more frustrated/annoyed with his death than sad because it was so senseless after underusing the character all season and never developing his relationship with Alex properly. Thom's arc, on the other hand, was perfect, and having him be Alex's first kill was incredibly poignant and effective. Still, going with Sean because the music ("Goodbye" by Apparat ft. Soap & Skin) and the acting were too beautiful and heart-wrenching for words. As much as I disagree with the decision to kill him off, the execution of that scene was flawless.
Carla's death was sad because she meant so much to Nikita (and Maggie played that scene so well), but ultimately it was hard to feel sorry for her. It was mostly Birkhoff's guilt and sorrow over killing her that got to me. Madeline... eh. Percy and Roan - seriously?
That scene when Michael almost died was amazing because as much as I was convinced they wouldn't touch him (or Alex) until the series finale, the flatline lasting for so long and the sad music kicking in really made my heart stop for a moment. They got me there.
Me neither, it was such a bold move... I know it's a season finale, but still. The poor guy, and we saw his guts explode all over in big plan, it was sanguinary! I can't even think about it.
They killed off Sean because the writers got it into their heads he wasn't worth developing, they assumed 22 episodes of season 4 was a lock and decided to make way for The Good Ship OLEX. But they only got 6 episodes so now that ship has basically sunk. The most they can do with that now is hint that they may become something more. I'm glad about that aspect because I really don't care for Alex/Owen.
22 episodes iwould be EPIC. 6 is a short story. They can put out all the PR bullcrap they want, but there's no way the creative team and the actors are happy with 6 episodes.
Craig Silverstein actually said something in an interview about wanting to develop the stuff they introduced between Alex and Owen (which: what?) in the remaining 6 episodes. Seriously, if they waste their precious time trying to shove that butterfly-soulmate crap down our throats, I'll be driven to homicidal rage. I hope he's just trying to string their shippers along, like he's done for pretty much all of Season 3.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Sean!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard choosing between Thom and Sean, but I ended up voting for Thom. His death had more impact to me than Sean's.

wow, Sean's for a long shot!!

ReplyDeletePermament deaths: Sean and Thom. Both were so emotional and had a powerful impact (poor Alex!).
ReplyDeleteTemporary deaths: Michael - everyone's reactions when they were trying to save him and it wasn't working were heartbreaking and also, Ryan.

ReplyDeleteSean's death was unexpected and quite brutal in a way. I still think he might just pop up in the episode. not over his death yet

ReplyDeleteI never believed they'd go there! *sobs*
ReplyDeleteI sure hope Birkhoff had the time to collect the rest of his figurines before they blew the place up but good.
