The Americans Garnered the Most Critics’ Choice Television Award Nominations
Of Any First Year Drama
New York, NY – May 23, 2013 – The Americans, the most critically-acclaimed new drama of the year and recipient of four Critics’ Choice Television Award nominations, concluded its first season tied for most-watched FX freshman drama ever, and as the #1 most time-shifted drama in FX history.
Inclusive of Live+7 data, The Americans averaged 3.4 million Total Viewers, tying it with Justified as the most-watched first season of any FX drama series (13 total). Also, The Americans ranked #3 in Adults and Men 25-54; #4 among Men 18-49, Men 18-34 and Women 25-54; and #5 among Adults 18-49 and Women 18-49.
Season one of The Americans ranks as the most time-shifted drama in FX history from Live+Same Day to Live+7. The Americans’ audience delivery catapulted an incredible +93% among Adults 18-49, and posted a gain of +83% in Total Viewers – 15 points ahead of FX’s second most time-shifted drama, Justified (+68% in Season 4).
The Americans received four Critics’ Choice Television Award nominations – the most of any first year drama series. In addition to the nomination for Best Drama Series, The Americans scored noms for Keri Russell as Best Actress in a Drama Series, Matthew Rhys as Best Actor in a Drama Series, and Noah Emmerich as Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
Set in 1981 just after Ronald Reagan is elected president, The Americans, starring Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys and Noah Emmerich, is a drama series about the complex marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington D.C. Created and executive produced by Joe Weisberg (Falling Skies), a former CIA agent who went on to become an accomplished author, The Americans is produced by Fox Television Studios and FX Productions. Joel Fields and Graham Yost are also executive producers, along with Amblin Television heads Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.
Production of Season 2 of The Americans begins this fall and is slated to debut in early 2014.
