Supernatural - 8.22 - Clip Show - Podcast

14 May 2013

Hey there all you wayward sons and daughters. Welcome back to another edition of the Team Winchester Podcast. Up for discussion today is episode 8.22: Clip Show. Due to Lilith forgetting to write the script this week, the podcast is a stripped down format. The gals found some things to like and some things to nitpick. Caution: Strong, brutally honest opinions ahead.

Disclaimer - As always the opinions on this podcast are merely Lilith and/or Dahne's opinions. They do not reflect the fandom as a whole or SpoilerTV.

  1. I dislike everyone in this episode at some point....except Crowley and the visual effects crew. Let's just say that I was extremely tired when doing this podcast so my normal filter is off and I spew my feelings everywhere. I am not sorry about it but you might be if you listen to it.

  2. Nice podcast, even if the negatives by far outweigh anything positive, but how could it be otherwise.
The season is what it is, bad, illogical, lacking in creativity, canon-torturing and with lack of bad-ass, intelligent, fighting brothers.

Chuck's books make a return appearance ( and how did we get one about season seven as he should have stopped at the end of season five )Yuck. Then past characters brought up just to kill them off. Poor Sarah!

The writers had the whole season if they wanted to work up to the theme of 'revenge' but they try and do it in one episode.

As for closing Hell, I hope Crowley comes out on top, kills off everyone except the brothers and works out a pact of non-agression with them so we can get Sam and Dean back to he family business, investigating urban legends, killing evil and saving lives, but with Carver at the helm, that's just a pipe-dream unfortunately!

  3. Great podcast! I only recently started coming to this website and just found the podcasts! Are they all archived somewhere? I'm really enjoying them.

I must admit that I was one of the fans foolishly telling Dean girls or EDGs that Dean would be getting the Heaven trials. I thought since Sam was doing Hell, Dean would do Heaven. To me, that made the most sense, esp. since the brothers couldn't do the Hell trials TOGETHER. Unfortunately,
the writers seem intent on keeping Castiel in the show, and since that's the case, they gave him the Heaven trials. And I say "unfortunately" only b/c it is clear - at least to me - that they have NO IDEA what to do w/Castiel. He lost purpose a long time ago, but no one is willing to acknowledge this.

I actually like Castiel, but he will NEVER be a main character, IMO. He is a secondary character who should be supporting Sam & Dean in their adventures, etc. He should not be driving his own story, which is what he's been doing. That is why I feel so disconnected from his character this year. I'm sorry, but he just shouldn't be given his own, individual arcs. For me, the transitions btw the Sam/Dean stuff and the Castiel stuff has been very awkward. As you guys said, it's like two separate
shows in one, and I can't say I have any interest in the "angel" side of "Supernatural." The show would work better, IMO, IF Castiel were involved in the boys' plot, not involved in his own plot.

  7. In a synopsis, it was "WHAT THE HELL CARVER?" from the first brother scene and a mixture of disbelief, disappointment, and snickering from then on. You can hear all our excuses for the show until we finally said, "Season 8" in the same way Bob Singer said, "Season 6" in French Mistake. At that point it became ways to amuse ourselves while commiserating together. Oh and there were some things we actually liked and celebrated. Those got their own parades. With confetti.

  8. Hi, just wondered if there will be a podcast for 'Sacrifice' as it's usually out around now. :)

  9. We having been experiencing technical difficulties and got cut off several times while trying to make the podcast. So much so in fact, that there wasn't enough usable footage to piece together the podcast. It looks like we will not be doing the Sacrifice podcast but instead will have a short wrap-up tagged on to the Pilot classic SPN podcast. Sorry.
