Scene Of The Week - May 19, 2013 - *POLL*

May 19, 2013

It’s week 24 and since it’s the time of many finales, today I’m changing the form of the article a bit. Let me in the comments what do you think about it.
Here are our favorite scenes this week (in alphabetical order):

ARROW, “Sacrifice”, May 15, 2013, Actors: Stephen Amell, Colin Donnell, Katie Cassidy, Paul Blackthorne, John Barrowman
The Scenes: Tommy’s death & Malcolm and Oliver fight

”That was so heartbreaking because Olivier knew Tommy was going to die and wished he died instead of his best friend.” Sylvie C
“I did not think they would kill him off, but I'm glad he died as a hero. This scene was so heartbreaking.” Jamie Coudeville
“The entire scene where the building collapses on Laurel to Tommy's death. I really loved how Tommy also came to Laurel's rescue. Laurel's piercing screams, urging her father to let her save Tommy, and then for someone to help Tommy. Oliver's reaction to seeing his "best friend in life" die in front of him and not being able to do anything about it was brilliant. I admit, it did make me cry.” Bradley Adams
“Oliver saying goodbye to Tommy, wishing it were him laying there instead of him.” Pascal Buijnsters
“That fight sequence had to be the best in the season.” Babar Suhail

CASTLE, “Watershed”, May 13, 2013, Actors: Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic
The Scene: The proposal

“Though not my overall favorite scene of the episode, Castle's proposal to Beckett is the one I want to talk about because it’s the biggest game-changer in the history of the series. It opens up a brand new set of doors, but closes just as many. We will have to wait until the next season to see the repercussions from this, but I'm pretty confident Castle fans will be happy with the outcome.” Jimmy Ryan
“Definitely did not see that coming. I'm still not sure how I feel about it though. I wish this had happened in happier circumstances.” Jamie Coudeville
“Castle proposes to Kate on the swingset, wanting to be with her whatever she chooses to do with her life.” Pascal Buijnsters

CONTINUUM, “Second Skin”, May 12, 2013, Actors: Rachel Nichols, Victor Webster
The Scene: Kiera breaks down

“This is my honorable mention. To see Kiera falling apart like that was just incredibly sad. The way she says “I see him all the time” talking about her son and starts crying – very moving scene that definitely deserves to be mentioned here. Great performance by Rachel Nichols.” Justyna Kubica

CRIMINAL MINDS, “#6”, May 15, 2013, Actors: Jeanne Tripplehorn, D. W. Moffett
The Scene: Blake and her husband reunion

“For the second week running I'm picking a scene from Criminal Minds. Last week it was JJ and her husband, this week it's Dr. Blake and her husband. Maybe I wasn’t paying attention if it was mentioned in previous episodes of Blake's marital status, but nevertheless, it was a really good opening scene of this week's episode where we saw Blake's husband arrive home for the first time in months.” Jimmy Ryan

DOCTOR WHO, “The Name Of The Doctor”, May 18, 2013, Actor: Jenna Louise Coleman, Matt Smith, Alex Kingston
The Scene: Clara in the Doctor’s timeline & Doctor says goodbye to River

“There are so many things I could say about this episode. It was stunning, very emotional and memorable. Feels like we’re already starting to celebrate 50th anniversary of the show here. And of course, there are many great scenes in the episode that I could mention in the article but I’ve decided to pick Clara falling apart into the million pieces in the Doctor’s timeline. It was both, incredibly crazy and brave, to sacrifice herself like that. She couldn’t have known what’s gonna happen with her exactly, still, she didn’t really hesitate to go through with this plan. She just went there and saved her friend (many, many times, apparently). And the most beautiful and very moving part of this scene is the fact that we can see her next to so many previous versions of the Doctor. I’m not one of the lucky ones who had a chance to watch the old series, but it still meant so much to me to see them all. Amazing way to start the celebration, not to mention the cliffhanger at the end.” Justyna Kubica
“All the flashback of old Doctors with Clara. The 50th celebrations started early.” Sandi wich
“The Doctor says goodbye to River Song. Such a beautiful goodbye.” Pascal Buijnsters

ELEMENTARY, “Heroine”, May 16, 2013, Actors: Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu
The Scene: Sherlock names a bee after Watson

“The scene at the end where Sherlock names a bee after Watson. I thought it was a really nice end to a brilliant episode.” Bradley Adams

GAME OF THRONES, “The Bear and the Maiden Fair”, May 12, 2013, Actors: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Gwendoline Christie
The Scene: Jamie comes Brienne to the rescue

“Jamie rescues Brienne from the bear!” Darth Locke

GREY’S ANATOMY, “Perfect Storm”, May 16, 2013, Actor: Chandra Wilson, Sandra Oh, Kevin McKidd
The Scenes: Bailey comes to the rescue & Cristina sets Owen free

“While I enjoyed the Calzona scene it came in a very close 2nd. I give the edge to Dr. Miranda Bailey going incredible Hulk on that medicine cabinet! If there is anything to snap Bailey out of her funk it’s hearing one of her "children" is badly hurt. Bailey totally sprung into action. I also like that we know she is still timid and unsure because she doubles her gloves. Chandra Wilson was amazing once again in her portrayal of Bailey. Then when she has trouble telling Derek and Cristina about Mer’s condition it was icing on the cake.” Spartigus15
“Realizing that she will never be enough for Owen, Cristina breaks up with him. This really was a great scene.” Babar Suhail

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, “Something New”, May 13, 2013, Actor: Cristin Milioti
The Scene: The last one (Everyone heading for Farhampton & The Mother is revealed)

“The Mother is finally revealed! I had been expecting it based on the promo, but it was still pretty exciting and is a game-changer for the show.” Klutzy Girl
“I liked the expression on everyone's faces in that scene (Lily happily wondering about her life in Rome, while Ted has a determined look etc). And of course that scene led to The Mother Reveal.” Babar Suhail

NCIS: LA, “Descent”, May 14, 2013, Actors: Eric Christian Olsen, LL Cool J, Daniela Ruah
The Scenes: Deeks is tortured & Deeks and Kensi kiss

“The last scene with Deeks being tortured. The scream, Sam’s look and the 3 words: TO BE CONTINUED…. I was on the edge of my seat!” Sylvie C
“Deeks kisses Kensi. The previous scene between the pair (in the armoury) had really built up to this kind of moment, and it was awesome when it came.” Bradley Adams

NIKITA, “Til Death Do Us Part”, May 17, 2013, Actors: Maggie Q, Shane West, Lyndsy Fonseca, Aaron Stanford, Noah Bean, Lyndie Greenwood
The Scene: Michael comes back to life

“What a wonderful job the entire cast and crew did in this episode! Headed by the always fantastic Maggie Q (easily one of my favorite performances this week… and this season to be honest). But everyone’s reactions when they are trying to save their friend’s life and Michael’s not waking up – perfect. The moment when they lose hope and start crying only to start laughing with tears in their eyes the second he finally comes back to life - priceless. I know, it’s such a miracle he did wake up. Probably not possible in the real life, but I don’t care about the logic here. I would not be able to stand it if Michael died. And I don’t think Nikita would survive that. It was such a heartbreaking scene but with the absolutely amazing ending, so it’s definitely one of my very favorites.” Justyna Kubica
“For a minute there I actually thought they'd kill him off. I couln't help but cry during this scene.” Jamie Coudeville

ORPHAN BLACK, “Entangled Bank”, May 18, 2013, Actors: Tatiana Maslany, Skyler Wexler
The Scene: Kira hugs Helena

“Kira hugs Helena and proceeds to go home.” Darth Locke

REVENGE, “Truth”, May 12, 2013, Actors: Emily VanCamp, Nick Wechsler
The Scene: Emily tells Jack the truth

“Talk about a cliffhanger. Cannot wait to see his reaction.” Jamie Coudeville

REVOLUTION, “The Longest Day”, May 13, 2013, Actors: Zak Orth, Elizabeth Mitchell
The Scene: Aaron insert nano tech into Rachel’s wound

“Aaron inserts first generation nano tech into Rachel's wound” Darth Locke

SCANDAL, “White Hat’s Back On”, May 16, 2013, Actors: Kerry Washington, Joe Morton, Jeff Perry, Tony Goldwyn
The Scenes: The last scene & Cyrus in the ambulance

“Scandal's finale on Thursday broke records on and off the screen, with more than 571,000 tweets shared during the finale, making it ABC's most social program. I wasn’t the author of any of them, however, because I was perched on the edge of my seat the entire time! There were numerous scenes I could choose from but I'm picking the closing scene, where we see Olivia Pope open a door to a swarm of media before being hustled into a limo, where the mystery man who has been seen conversing with Cyrus and Jake, among others, sits on the opposite seat, and Pope says the word "Dad." This is a typical Shonda Rhimes twist that took me completely by surprise, and will no doubt be a game-changer for the show. I can't wait to see what comes of this revelation next season.” Jimmy Ryan
“Heart attack and a hilarious ambulance scene! Just brilliant acting! Such a hilarious scene!” Spartigus15

SUPERNATURAL, “Sacrifice”, May 15, 2013, Actors: Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins
The Scene: The ending sequence (Dean and Sam talk & “Angels are falling”)

“I want to talk about the entire ending scene here, from the moment Sam talks about his confession to the very last second of the episode. It was absolutely brilliant. First, poor boys! It’s hard to believe that after all this time Sam still wasn’t sure that his brother would always choose him, no matter what. I mean, of course, there were some trust issues between them, it’s not so easy to forget what happened in season 4, not easy to forgive too but I can’t imagine anyone ever thinking that Sam isn’t Dean’s number 1 priority, especially Sam himself. But it’s always good to hear it, so I loved how Dean made sure his little brother knows it now, just like we all do. Beautiful dialogue here and amazing performances by Jensen and Jared (!). “Let it go” – and he did, thanks to his big bro standing next to him. Not that the effect the trials had on Sam completely disappeared but I’m sure these two together will be just fine. And once the guys are outside the church, we can see that angels are falling. The entire sequence is just stunning. Visually, it’s absolutely gorgeous. And in terms of the storyline, looks like a game changer to me!” Justyna Kubica
“Dean assures Sam that there is NOTHING he will ever put in front of him and to let it go. That was just a perfect scene and actually something I have been waiting for since season 4!” Klutzy Girl
“Sam‘s confession, Dean’s argumentation to save his little brother. I cried the whole time. Those two are really the best together. Can’t believe I have to wait months, I have so many questions!” Sylvie C

THE OFFICE, “Finale”, May 16, 2013, Actor: Steve Carell
The Scene: Michael shows up at the wedding

“This is really hard to choose, but Michael showing up at Dwight's wedding to be his best man, courtesy of best man Jim.” Klutzy Girl

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, “Graduation”, May 16, 2013, Actors: Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev
The Scene: Elena tells Damon she loves him

“Elena tells Damon she's not sorry she's in love with him. This scene was just perfect. Exactly what I wanted it to be. I'm still freaking out over it.” Jamie Coudeville

TWO BROKE GIRLS, “And the Window of Opportunity”, May 13, 2013, Actors: Kat Dennings, Beth Behrs
The Scene: Max and Caroline fight with the power washers

“Max and Caroline's fight with the power washers in what is to become their new shop.” Cindy Kong

  1. I had to choose Arrow's scenes, as it was the best finale I watched this week, and Emily telling Jack the truth, as it was what saved Revenge's finale for me after the ridiculous pregnancy storyline and after asking what the hell Declan was doing at Greyson's global to begin with..

  2. My favorite scenes - extended edition ;)

Once upon a time – Last scene with everyone as a team going to Neverland
    Revenge – The truth
HIMYM – The Mother is revealed
    NCIS: LA - The kiss
    Arrow – Tommy’s death
Supernatural – Dean’s speech/the end + “Where do I start to even look for forgiveness?”
    Continuum – Kiera breaks down
The Vampire diaries – Damon and Elena finally together
Nikita – Michael comes back to life

Doctor Who - Clara in Doctor's timeline, Doctor says goodbye to River and the cliffhanger

And it's possible I'm still missing something. What a week!

  3. Voted for the Nikita scene, they seriously got me to believe Michael was a goner for a minute. Terrific acting, too.
I have to say, I think 3 more scenes from that amazing finale deserved to be on the list: the President shooting herself (for shock factor alone); Nikita bursting into Division and destroying the Dirty 30, Terminator-style (can you say epic?); and Division blowing up once and for all (literally gave me chills, beautifully filmed and a great hallmark for the series).

  4. In my Others:

Raj realizing that he is talking to Penny sobers, and the girls wonders if he will ever stop talking, now that he can freely converse with them.

  15. The acting between Jensen and Jared shows the quality of actor they both are. The Discussion between Sam and Dean in Supernatural at the end. Sam;s confession. Dean letting him know that it will always be Sam. For too long the have given all for everyone else. Finally, they truly chose family over everyone else. I also agree the filming of the angels falling was incredible.

  16. I picked other Beauty and the Beast. Great season finale. The last scene was absolutely heartbreaking when Vincent was captured and he and Cat grabbed hands as they were being seperated. Beautifully done and a great setup for next season.

  17. Last scene of Beauty and the Beast. Helicopter taking off with Vincent captured in a net and Catherine on the ground reaching out in anguish trying to hold on to Vincent's hand

  18. SPN for me. That last scene was one of the best in SPN history and both Jared and Jensen completely knocked it out of the park. We saw Sam's feelings about his own failings and insecurities and Dean finally voicing his complete and utter devotion to his brother and setting the record strait on how he will always put Sam first. Possibly SPN's best scene ever. And then add to it the sad beauty of the falling angels as they started crashing to earth and the wonderful special effects and incredible scene music as well...heartbreaking, wonderful and amazing all in the span of about 4 minutes time.

  19. Beauty and the Beast: Vin/Cat final "Farewell" scene.... So touching...

  20. Nikita - the very last scene of the very last ep this season. Michael trying to call Nikita while she cries driving. Heart. Broken.

  21. I was shocked when Castle proposed to Beckett. I did not expect it to happen then and there.

I was also shocked when they showed The Mother. I was in disbelief but also excited because I figured that Ted would meet her within the first few episodes and he'd (and we'd) get to know her next season. Even if they didn't get married in the series finale, the audience would be left knowing how well she fit into Lily's front porch future. Then upfront had to happen. I'm not too happy about Craig and Carter's plan but I am a little intrigued.

I kinda let out a squeak when Michael showed up to be Dwight's best man. Definitely the Best. Prank. Ever. from Jim :D

I also liked the end of NCIS when Tony, Ziva, and McGee resigned so they could take the fall for Gibbs' charges; the end of New Girl ("Before you say no, don't say no"); Juliette's reaction to Jolene's murder/suicide (heartbreaking but great acting from Hayden); and Emma calling her parents "Mom" and "Dad" on OUAT (doubt she'll keep it up but still: breakthrough! :D).

    2. Revenge: Emily tells Jack the truth
    3. Once Upon a Time: Everyone boarding Hook's ship to Neverland.

  27. Tommy's death on Arrow was by far the best TV scene I have seen this week. It might be the best scene I have seen on TV this entire season. It will be hard to top it, that's for sure.

  32. Miss SupernaturalMay 19, 2013 at 9:49 PM

Supernatural. The brothers scene was one of the best of the entire show. So much emotions. Jared and Jensen were amazing and the angels falling sequence was gorgeous. Wonderfully done.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The NCIS LA scenes I still can't get those two scenes out of my head it was painfully beautiful and very powerful to watch. Castle proposing and The Mother (I knew about that already) but it was still a nice reveal and huge relief to know she's real.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Nikita - Michael coming back to life. I was on the edge of my seat though I knew they wouldn't kill him, there would have been no sense to do so. And I cried along with Nikita. :(

The last scene of Nikita running off and Michael finding the ring was great too again in a sad way. Hope the team finds Nikita quickly.

Supernatural - The final scenes, very dramatic. Also, Crowley becoming more emotional with the doses of Sam's blood. It was so strange seeing Crowley act that way.

Arrow - Tommy's death. It was a very sad scene with how Oliver reacted.

The Vampire Diaries: The goodbye scenes with Alaric and Lexi. Felt bad for Damon and Stefan. Also liked the Klaus/Caroline scene. Seems Klaus may finally beginning to understand that if he wants to be with Caroline he must allow her time.

    ReplyDelete
  35. they were all incredible but tommy's death wins out overall. just so emotional and so unexpected!!! close second was sam and deans talk at the end of the episode, then oliver and malcolms fight and the entire crazy cliffhanger ending of revenge.

    ReplyDelete
  36. My favorite scene was the Deeks' torture scene on NCIS LA because it not only put a very human face to torture (it is rare for a main character who is tortured to truly show the agony being experienced), it also allowed us to see in Sam the guilt and pain he is experiencing, having been less than generous to a man who has "always had everybody's back", literally saved his life and is now trying to protect Sam's wife even though Deeks himself is facing the possibility of being tortured to death (of course that won't happen). I thought it was heart wrenching and extremely well done. Of course, the Kensi/Deeks moment was well done also. Not mushy or drawn out; just a simple kiss and a look of confusion on Kensi's part as she tries to process something that she didn't expect, but has no doubt been waiting for a long time.

Other favorites: Tommy's death on Arrow. Heartbroken, but not surprised that he was the one to die. The last few moments between Tommy and Oliver were beautifully done. His death made the most sense, but he was really the only reason I watched the show. I don't plan to watch next year, since it is hard to watch a show where you do not like the main character.

The Vampire Diaries' Damon and Elena moment finally resolved the triangle (or did it?) Confessions and declarations of love sans sire bond. Wonderful! (Unfortunately, I fear the revelation that Stephen is also a doppleganger may change things up somehow. As Stephen is a doppleganger for Silas, so too Elena could be a doppleganger for Silas' wife, which could be used to explain why Stephen and Elena were so drawn to each other and perhaps Silas will want to somehow use Elena to bring his wife back. Well, who knows. Speculation is not really my thing.)

Last, of course, is Supernatural and the rain of angels. Dean and Sam's heartfelt was, for me, a road we have been down before. In fact, I was a little disappointed that the ritual wasn't completed. So close! I really wanted to see the King of Hell saved and the doors closed. I should have known, there would be a reason not to do it. I was never worried about Sam. He and Dean have died and come back so many times. So even if he had completed his mission, they would have found a way to bring him back next season. If Dean had been doing the trials, he would have finished them. He was prepared to die and I don't think Sam could have stopped him the way Dean stopped Sam. Still the very end was great.
