Rookie Blue - Episode 4.01 - Surprises - Press Release

A group of young and ambitious rookie cops continue to navigate the emotional trials and tribulations of their professional and personal lives. After three years on the job, these rookies are well on their way to becoming experienced officers, but at what cost? It's been six months since Andy McNally and Nick Collins left for their undercover operation. But while they were gone, everything seems to have changed at 15 Division, on the Season Four premiere of "Rookie Blue," THURSDAY, MAY 23 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

In the season premiere, "Surprises," Andy and Nick continue to work undercover infiltrating a meth pipeline. However their covert mission goes sideways when Nick - then Andy - go missing. Meanwhile, a random arrest at 15 Division puts Sam Swarek and the other officers in the middle of the drug investigation-turned-rescue operation. Finally, Andy must figure out how to cope with the transformation of her own life as well as those of her friends at the station and continue to do the job she loves.

That's what being a cop is: adjusting to new situations, rolling with the punches. Change is constant, and if you don't adapt, you're left behind. So when Andy returns to find that Sam Swarek is now a Detective and that he's moved on, she's going to have to figure out how to deal with it. Meanwhile, Dov's life gets awkward when a one-night stand with Frank's goddaughter becomes more complicated. Chris is torn between staying at 15 Division and moving his new family back to his smaller, safer hometown. Traci is learning to work with new detective Swarek while trying to move on from the loss of her fiance, Jerry Barber. And although Nick and Gail have cemented their relationship, Nick can't seem to shed the feeling that all is not right between them. Last season, our officers got what they wanted and had to deal with the repercussions. This year, they will have to look change right in the eye and learn to adapt -- leaving them with some big, bold choices to make.

"Rookie Blue" stars Missy Peregrym ("Heroes,""Reaper") as Andy McNally, Gregory Smith ("Everwood") as Dov Epstein, Charlotte Sullivan ("The Kennedys") as Gail Peck, Enuka Okuma ("24") as Traci Nash, Travis Milne ("Leslie, My Name is Evil") as Chris Diaz, Peter Mooney ("Camelot," ABC's Family/Global's "Falcon Beach") as Nick Collins, Ben Bass ("The Eleventh Hour") as Sam Swarek, and introducing this season Priscilla Faia ("Eleventh Victim," "Psych") as Chloe Price and Rachael Ancheril ("The Listener") as Marlo Cruz. Also starring in the series is Matt Gordon as Oliver Shaw and Lyric Bent as Frank Best.

Guest starring in "Surprises" are Louis Ferreira as Jacob Blackstone, Tyler Hynes as Von and Matthew Bennett as Simon Dent.

"Surprises" was written by Tassie Cameron and directed by David Wellington.

  2. I'm struggling to get excited about this season. I've loved this show since the beginning, but lost faith in the writers last season and from the looks of the promos, it looks like another season of cat and mouse is in store for us. They way they tore apart McSwarek, was crap and completely transparent as a ratings grap. News flash! It's doesn't grap everyones ratings! Sadly, this show just got demoted to PVR for me. I never thought I'd say that! :'(

  4. I couldn't disagree more. Season 3 was the season that Rookie Blue finally became a true, solid ensemble drama instead of the "Andy McNally Guy Trouble Hour." For the first time, all the show's characters were afforded equal time in the spotlight and the writers finally came to the correct decision to make Andy's personal life just part of the show rather than the main focus.
