-Ratings Breakdown:
ABC opened the week on a winning overnight note, but the home of “The Voice,” NBC, will rule among adults 18-49 (and other key demos). And four of the five networks – NBC excluded – were down by double-digit percentages year-to-year. The biggest loser was Fox, which could only muster a 1.3 rating/2 share for 8 p.m. special “Rihanna 777.”
“Dancing With the Stars” on ABC took top-rated overnight honors for the evening, with a 9.5/15 from 8-10 p.m. (peaking at 9:30 p.m. with a 9.8/15). But one year earlier it was notably stronger at an 11.6/18 (on 5/07/12). Next on the alphabet net was drama “Castle” at a dominant 7.2/12 at 10 p.m., which dipped by 15 percent from the year-ago evening (8.4/14) and held 73 percent of the 9:30 p.m. portion of “Dancing With the Stars.”
On NBC, aforementioned “The Voice” scored a healthy 7.6/12 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m., which built by 13 percent year-to-year (versus a 6.7/10 on 5/07/12) and will surely dominate the evening in all key young adult demographics. Lead-out “Revolution” dipped to third at 10 p.m., with a 3.9/ 7. But “Revolution,” which would falter had it not been for “The Voice” lead-in, will generate some interest demographically thanks to the singing competition.
The once unstoppable CBS has lost considerable steam, with the 8-10 p.m. combination of “How I Met Your Mother” (#3: 4.9/ 8), “Rules of Engagement” (#3: 4.2/ 7), “2 Broke Girls” (#3: 5.3/ 8) and “Mike & Molly” (#3: 5.2/ 8) down by 29 percent, on average, in the overnights from one year earlier (which featured “How I Met Your Mother,” “2 Broke Girls,” “Two and a Half Men” and “Mike & Molly”). With reduced lead-in support, three year old “Hawaii Five-O” slipped to a 5.2/ 9 (#2) at 10 p.m., which was 13 percent below the year-ago evening.
Elsewhere, the aforementioned “Rihanna 777” special on Fox led into a 1.7/ 3 for a repeat of “Bones” at 9 p.m. And The CW did not register, as usual, with it’s pairing of game show “Oh Sit!” and the next-to-last episode of “90210.” Each scored a mere 0.5/ 1 in the overnights.

About the Daily Ratings
Each day (except Sunday) we post the TV Ratings for the previous night.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the
Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below)
