-Ratings Breakdown:
ABC danced its way to an easy Tuesday overnight victory, with a 10.7 rating/17 share for the season-finale of “Dancing With the Stars” from 9-11 p.m. One year earlier, it concluded with a 12.4/24 (on 5/12/12). But paring down “Dancing With the Stars” to just the two-hour block on Monday is a wise maneuver to keep the franchise alive. Congratulations, Kellie Pickler!
Earlier in the evening on ABC was 8 p.m. special “The Bachelor”: The Bachelor’s Funniest Moments” at a third-place 3.7/ 6 at 8 p.m. Keep in mind that the new season of “The Bachelorette” begins on ABC next Monday.
Over at NBC, the planned recap edition of “The Voice” at 8 p.m. was replaced with an NBC News Special on the tornadoes in Oklahoma, which resonated with a 5.1/ 9 in the overnights at 8 p.m. (#2). Next was the live edition of “The Voice” (#2: 6.7/10), which will win the 9 p.m. hour among adults 18-49 with ease, followed by a third-place 3.4/ 6 for “Grimm” at 10 p.m. “Grimm” moves back into its former Friday 9 p.m. time period next fall (out of “Dateline” and into compatible short-flight series “Dracula”).
CBS populated the evening with encores of “NCIS: Los Angeles” (#1: 5.2/ 9) and two episodes of “NCIS” (9 p.m.: #3, 5.2/ 8; 10 p.m.: #2: 4.9/ 8). Fox aired two-hours of summer staple “So You Think You Can Dance,” which remains below average early its return with a 3.6/ 6 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m. And The CW paired a Tuesday repeat of “The Vampire Diaries” (#5: 0.6/ 1 at 8 p.m.) with an encore of “America’s Next Top Model” College Edition” (#5: 0.4/ 1 at 9 p.m.). Considering the next edition of “Top Model” returns this summer, announcing a fall schedule with Tyra Banks and company in the Friday 9 p.m. hour is misleading.
