As you know each year prior to the any episodes airing we ask the knowledgeable SpoilerTV Community to try an predict which shows will be Renewed and which ones Cancelled.

Last year we had an 80% success rate that you can see here in this table.

With NBC yesterday announcing their schedule (See here) it's time again to see if you can predict which shows will be renewed/cancelled.

There are 2 Polls below. One for Renewals and one for Cancellations. In each poll select the show(s) that you think will either be renewed/cancelled and then press vote.

Before the season starts we will collate all the predictions and post the table that we'll update during the 2013/14 season to see how your predictions went.

Can we beat 80%?

Note 1: We've included Hannibal in the polls below as it's fate is still undecided
Note 2: We will be doing the same of the other broadcast networks after they have released their schedule.

Let us know in the comments how you voted and why.

In the Poll below select ALL the shows that you think will be renewed.

In the Poll below select ALL the shows that you think will be cancelled.

  2. It'll be interesting to see how people position Revolution. I think it'll be ok seeing it's on Wednesdays at 8pm next season

  3. I hope Revolution could be renewed for season 3....but I really doubt it because of the new timeslot:(

  4. The slot isnt that bad it will probably be the only drama in the hour besides arrow

  6. So hard to decide because NBC are in a sorry state once again this season so sometimes low rated shows get to come back sometimes they don't/

  7. Yeah same here need to see some of the shows to see how bad or good they are.

  8. I need trailers first. They are not always the best indicator but I haven't even understood what most of these shows are about, especially the comedies. Will vote later!

  9. Now that they have given Grimm a third season, they certainly will give it a fourth, too.

  10. For me, the returning shows will be: Parks & Rec, Community, About a Boy, Michael J Fox Show, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Grimm and The Blacklist.

I want to make notice of something: I do believe Parks and Community will return despite its 1.0/1.3 ratings, and that's because all new shows(and i mean ALL, from ALL the networks) did really bad compared to new shows from a few past years.

Elementary pulled 2.0/2.2s on it's first Season... That's actually pretty bad(H50, a show really near syndication, has those ratings on it's third Season, pulling 2.8s on it's first Season and 2.6s on it's Second). Shows tend to lose 15/20% per Season, the thing being that by Season 5 they reach 88 episodes and began to make syndication deals. So, the money that is lost by ratings is gained by syndication. But a show must be afordable until the syndication milestone.

So, if a show like Go On had being renewed it would hit 0.8s on Season 2 and then 0.6s on Season 3 and below 0.5s on Season 4... That's not afordable.

Community has a lot of syndication deals and on it's fourth Season it still hit better ratings than all brand new comedies on NBC. So even if Season 5 hits 1.0/0.8s ratings, the money made by selling a Gold Status Show(+100 episodes) would be worth it... That's why Sony was so eager to deal for a new Season.

The same thing aplied to other shows(Elementary and other CBS's procedurals, for example)... I think people are fine with the shows right now and don't have the time to invest on new ones.

On 2014-2015, How I Met Your Mother will end and then, networks must produce a comedy that catch the atention of those watchers and new ones.

But until then, i believe is not a good time to make new shows... I liked the premise of About a Boy and MJF's comedy seems appealing 'cause of his name on it... But idk, i still believe we will see a LOT of new and sophomore shows cancelled next Season.

At least that's my point of view...

Renewed: Dracula, Grimm(because no other show of NBC does that good in that timeslot)

    Cancelled: Community

Yep. No show of NBC did that well in those timeslots. Cancelling that show right now would be suicide for that network.

  13. I'm not a faithful Grimm viewer, I enjoy it but I'll come back to it this year sometime I'm sure, it makes me so happy that a fantasy series is so crucial for a broadcast network. It is often the case with The CW, but that the The WB/UPN were always totally different stories.

However I thought for sure NBC would have ordered another fantasy/sci-fi pilot. Hm.

I hope they keep Hannibal and Community.

  15. Veterans:
    Chicago Fire: Renewal
SVU: Renewal but it should be for an announced final season most likely
Revolution: This is a hard call. I have grown to be a bigger fan of this move the more I looked at DVR numbers for the show for this season. Maybe the 10pm factor was bigger than we thought and it will be able to counterweight the voice lead-in factor more than we anticipate. The slot isn't particularly hard either... And the show has been improving dramatically quality wise. Ultimately, renewal but I guess I will pay the price for this one later
    Parenthood: Renewal
Parks and Recreation: Canceled - I think this is the season in which NBC definitely cuts its ties with the old comedy brand and not even Parks will escape. Plus, facing the big bang theory will certainly not help.

    Community: Canceled: See Parks

    Grimm: Renewal

    New Fall Shows:
    The Blacklist: Renewal
    Ironside: Canceled
    Welcome to the Family: Canceled
Sean Hayes saves the World: Renewal
    The Michael J.Fox Show: Renewal
    Dracula: Renewal
Crossbones (technically, not fall, but we do know its schedule): Renewal, but I am less confident on this one than dracula as spring levels of viewing might prove too low to launch a show 10pm fridays. And it would require grimm to hold up better than this year (which it actually should, hence me still going with renewal)

    Unscheduled Shows:
These are terrible to predict, since they could land anywhere on the schedule (I am ignoring the current scheduling for tuesdays and sundays come midseason)
About a Boy: Renewal (I think this one will get a voice lead in no matter what)
    Believe: Canceled
Chicago PD: Renewed (They will find a way to give it a great lead in, either Chicago Fire or the voice)
Crisis: Could work... But without a slot is hard to say... Canceled
The Family Guide: Canceled, although it has a shot at renewal too

The Night Shift: I think it has some potential based on compatibility with Chicago Fire and such, but I don't see it being a priority, certainly not more than chicago pd so I think it will be canceled
    Undateable: Canceled

I think blacklist and the friday dramas combo will work. I also think that they will get one more procedural into their rotation out of ironside, chicago pd and night shift and my bet is chicago pd. Crisis and Believe I am leaning towards canceled because I have no idea how they fit in the schedule so I think at least one does in fact end up on sundays where they are doomed. Veterans wise in the drama category, everything will be back with revolution being a question mark (svu could be a bigger question mark but they were willing to have this season without mariska, so they can do the same next year to reduce costs if needed). As for the comedies, I think they will get at least 3 solid perfomers from next season crop in michael j fox, sean hayes and about a bout (propped up by the voice). Family guide could also do ok, but I think welcome to the family is DOA. I don't see parks or community coming back.
