Next episode isn't for two weeks, but they showed HG in it, so yay! Maybe now that they've decided to kill the show, they'll give the fans what they want. Myka and HG! Make it happen!
Reading the episode summary, I half thought they'd be dealing with a secret society of wizards. Now that, could have been interesting - instead, the episode was sleep inducing.
ya get pete with myka or pete with someone, with all those clues ever since way then pointing at him wanting a family and stuff, make it happen. dont hint it and without planing to deliver it.
Well that's fair, and I kind of like that the showrunner had the idea for a truly platonic friendship between a man and a woman. I guess I'm so used to that not happening, but I'm with you, I love their friendship and it's one of the best things in the series.
And I guess I completely missed Myka and HG's "relationship" or the hints at it, I saw a loose friendship that I thought the writers made it seem was stronger than it was in the Season 3 finale so Myka would be upset about it.
Yeah, they said early on that they were gonna explore a man/woman friendship, and how people shouldn't expect that they will get together as male and female leads always do in tv shows.
The Myka and HG "relationship" is subtext only, and is pretty subtle, but it's had it's moments. There have been a few little things written into the friendship that might indicate that it could be more or that the women want or feel more, but it's only been a little. The actresses thought it would be interesting to see two women who didn't have a constant rivalry over their position in life or a man and have a deep connection and truly care a lot about, or dare I say love, each other. I think that the fandom (of which I am included so I'm not ship bashing here) maybe has looked a little far into certain things at time, as do shippers of a subtext couple, but the actresses play into it intentionally to suggest that there might be more going on between the two characters.
But, Jack Kenny constantly reinforces the idea that the show is/was/will never be about romantic relationships. He's stated SEVERAL times that Myka and HG will never happen on the show, so I can see how people don't see it since the writers aren't exactly writing into it.
I really hate people like you. While I'm always the first to admit that I'm arrogant, you're a really special kind of arrogant in assuming that I was naive enough to think that ALL fans want Myka and HG together.
Thanks for the indepth reply. I find it interesting that there is this whole subtext/subtlety of a potential "relationship" that I completely missed out on. I think a rewatch is in order!
But at any rate, if Myka should be with anyone it should be me. Ha, I kid.
Once again I liked this episode and how it introduced to us a new character to replace Leena and help Artie to deal with his anguish. Great to see Mrs. Frederick too!! Yes, the whole magic story line was a little corny but it was also another one of W13's well written life lessons that make the show so sweet. My favorite team is always Myka and Pete and all the great one liners! Of course we also find out the mystery woman has selected Claudia as her new target!
This was another entertaining episode. I liked the introduction of Kelly Hu's character. It was both functional and fit, since she's a therapist and can help Artie, or any of the other agents, and she seems pretty cool with the WH13 stuff. I've liked the actress in other appearances I've seen her in, so I'm rooting for her character to be of good use on WH13, at least until the end, of course. I'm glad they showed Artie struggling with his actions for a few eps, and showed him starting to come to terms with it. Pete & Myka's partnership is usually the highlight of the show for me. They have pretty good chemistry.
The show runner and cast has been saying since season 1 that Myka and Pete are just friends and will remain that way. They liked the idea of a truly platonic friendship between a man and a woman that loved each other just as friends. I love their friendship, it's one of the best things about the series. Myka and HG's "relationship" (or lack thereof) has been hinted at since season 2 but came to a grinding halt this season. But Jack Kenny, the showrunner, basically has said that Myka and HG are just friends, too, even though the actresses themselves have claimed that Myka and HG are in love.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteGo to the Warehouse 13 tumblr. 90% of it consists of Myka and HG. ;)

Haha! Fine, you can have Myka if I can have HG! :D
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fair deal to me!

ReplyDeleteI just want Myka happy. I ship both Pete/Myka and Bering and Wells. Please don't assume that all fans like Bering and Wells. It's arrogant.
ReplyDeleteI only started watching the show this Christmas, but fans want Myka and HG together? Never even thought of that, I like Pete and Myka.
