She'll say yes but then 3XK will threaten to kill someone unless she calls off the engagement and she can't tell Castle why. Wait...No. That'd be terrible.
Annnddd...I was waiting all commercials long for the show to start again and hear the answer 'til the News started and I realized the season was over xD i'm slow
Not as impactful as last season's finale, but awesome all the way around.... I can only imagine the squee-fest that is taking place.... lol it'll be interesting to see how next season will begin.....
i like castle, but last couple of episodes were BS, they tried to lead it to this point, but this point was not worth it. kate was all kinds of wrong in this episode; castle's mom too. castle manned up but will kate also? i feel like the writers will fix this with a baby.
I agree, "Always" was a strong episode, but you could guess what next ;) But the "watershed" cliffhanger is much better, I can't imagine what Beckett answer will be.
Well, the case of the week was boring. I'm little annoyed that we got all of this tension and we only get like 10 minutes of Castle/Beckett. I think this is going to end with Beckett taking the job (because she would like say to him, "where was this commitment a few weeks ago!") but things don't go so well in DC, so she goes back to her old job but Castle is distant from her next season. It's a breakup, but just a journey between two people who aren't ready yet for the next step. I don't think we will get closure/resolution for at least a few episodes into the season.
This was too case heavy for my taste. I expected more. That said, I really thought Castle was going to break up with her and then we see Kate's face where we know she actually wanted to stay with him. Thus, the cliffhanger.
The proposal was a bit off. I don't think Castle is proposing for the right reasons. So it would be interesting to see if Kate will say yes. Will she know he's not proposing for the right reasons and that's why say no?
What I want the writers to do is be bold and have Kate take the job and have her say yes to Castle. So for a few eps in season 6, they'll be separated and that will be the complicated storyline that AM was talking about. Castle will be at the 12th helping out the boys (because Gates really has a soft spot for him). Maybe after a few eps, somethings happens and Kate realises she wants Castle more and returns to the 12th. That's my hope.
But knowing the writers, I doubt she'll take the job. I can see her declining the job AND Castle. She will tell him that he wants is also what she wants but not a proposal - not right now. She just needed to know where they were going. This, of course, will lead Castle to think that she's afraid or doesn't love him enough to marry him and thus, a complicated s6 and a very angsty Caskett (my favourite kind!).
Talk about emotional blackmail but I think Becket will resist and take the job even with the proposal or at least I hope so cause it would be a rather lame twist if she said yes and forgot about the job.
Shocked, I didn't think he would propose. I figured she would leave him for the job and next season they would be forced to work together then a rekindle. She doesn't really want that job, remember back in always, she told Castle she almost died and all she could think of was Castle. Remember, she even quit because it didn't matter, he is what matters the MOST. Now I knew this finale wouldn't be as epic as last seasons because last season had four years of build up. Now nobody is addressing this, where did that rock come from??? Obviously Castle obviously is t going to use an ex wife's ring, I think he bought it for her at the beginning of the season, maybe after 3xk. He knew that if he ever got married again it would be to her. Now second, I don't think there will be a yes or not but a lets wait. In Castle fashion, there are really romantic beautiful moments such as Always. I think either in the premiere or the end of next season Kate will propose to Castle on the swing set and it will be super romantic and epic with all the romantic music. AM had to write things like this because if he jumped the line, he would be running out of story lines and it wouldn't be true to Castke fashion, which takes things slow. I think the focus will be on Kate and what she wants from her career. Remember she wanted to be a lawyer as a kid, I feel like that is where her true passion is, so we'll see how it rolls out. Very complicated, I'm so glad AM and abc cut the end out for the media, was truly surprised.
I figured there'd be a proposal coming! But I don't think they're ready, especially if they're going to be in different cities... assuming she actually takes the job... which I would be SO mad at her if she didn't. And neither of them seemed thrilled, so that's not great either. It just seemed like wayyyyy too big a jump. But at least Castle finally DTRed haha
I like caskett but I liked the show more when they based the episodes a little bit more on the stories and important cases than on castle and becket's couple
I was screaming! sdsdskderueixf is what I think at the time. That is so unexpected, well some of us predicted that Castle will propose to Beckett but I am not. THIS IS BEYOND TORTURE.. four months omg, can I survive this?
Oh my word it was awesome but now the long wait. We don't know what she was going to say or how she will answer. I hope the new season will pick up right where it left off as I wouldn't want to miss the answer. My guess is she wants the job but was going to tell him NY is her home and she was staying.
I kept screaming at the TV, not the last two minutes, not the last two minutes! I did the same for the Revenge finale, knowing there cant be much shown in so little time.
No one hate me ... but under the circumstances, I'm hoping for a "no" on this one. Beckett was clearly going to take that job, and Castle is proposing to try and show that he's committed to the relationship no matter what, when a simple Luke from Gilmore Girls style "I'm all in" may have been the better approach. Marriage is supposed to be something you're completely sure of going in, especially for one person who has always put her job in front of her relationships and one person who has a history of rushing into marriage with the wrong people. I think of the great proposals of some of my favorite ships - Jim and Pam, Chuck and Sarah, Clark and Lois, even Robin and Barney - and I want that sort of happy scene where both people are completely sure if and when Caskett get engaged. That's not what this was, and given my current options, I'd rather have them break up now and go through with this for the right reasons later, rather than have them be engaged for the wrong reasons and possibly irreversibly wreck their relationship later on.
This whole thing confuses me. I mean, very recently, Beckett asked Castle a question about his past - albeit a small one - and he answered honestly. And other than the why he's obsessed with murder thing in season two, when has he never answered when she's asked something? He opens up to her all the time about problems with Alexis and Martha, he's willing to talk about any relationship issues, he's told her more about his past without coaxing than she's told him about her past without him coaxing (or occasionally bending over backwards), and he confessed his feelings long before she did, even waiting for them to be together for almost a year before she said it back. No, he doesn't always tell stories about his before-he-was-famous days and no, he may not rush into this relationship like he did his marriages (probably for good reason given how they turned out), but Beckett could've said something. She asked once, very randomly, where they were going, and didn't clarify when he misunderstood. Yet it's played as partially, if not mostly Castle's fault. And yet Beckett is the one who held back for so long, who wouldn't talk when she felt there was a problem, who very rarely asks about his past even as Castle works so hard to uncover bits of hers even when she's reluctant (as she often is), and who took an interview in another city without telling Castle. Yes, with the drawer and the elaborate party and the ILY, she's been better lately, but still. She's just as much part of the problem as Castle, and worse, she saw the problem and instead of talking to him took the first way out without giving him a head's up. She could've told him she wanted to know where the relationship was headed, she could've asked him to come with her, but she made it clear to her father that she wanted the job, and it sort of feels like what she wanted from the moment these problems first cropped up was a way out. It's very telling how she considered a job that would move her away from her boyfriend of a year and partner of five years as something that only concerned "me and my life." And yet it's Castle's fault somehow, and now he's the one putting himself on the line in a big way again to fix it, and the look she gave him was not a happy one. These problems are confusing, and a bit forced, and as much as I love them together, right now I don't really want them taking the next step. Not like this.
Amazing I am already counting the days until the Season 6 We have so many Questions , and no answers (Job and proposal) I don't want to think about it now cause if i do, i'm not gonna survive the hiatus ! See you in Fall
Oh my man! I would like you to write a novel instantly about CASKETT so that I can keep myself invovled during this hiatus. That was epic what you just wrote...Seriously why don't you consider writing reviews?
Is it me or was the proposal a bit forced and insincere? The writers probably meant for it that way to have a framework for season six. I just wish the first and only proposal was a happy one... But then again Kate could propose later on and that would be stupendous!!!!!
agreed. Beckett is the bone head here. Castle has said ILY 4 times now to her one. i love that Castle finally decided he loves her no matter what- flaws and all. but how can she say she doesn't know what they have or "if this real" after the man was willing to die with her standing on a bomb?? how much more real does it get? that, to me, was totally unbelievable. i mean what does the man need to do to prove he's there for her- ALWAYS? so as much as i want them to be together, she needs to open up fast. Overall, this episode made me very sad, because her going to DC is going to break up all the magic and chemistry at the precinct. And that's what makes the show amazing. surely AM could've found another way to "keep it interesting". :(
I'm reading a lot of reactions here. I don't know if it's because seeing the promo pictures I was already waiting for this but I don't think it's so surprising. And well, if my ears haven't made me hear things, he says "he is sure he wants more" and adds "whatever happens, whatever you do" just before proposing. For me that means "fine, you want to go to DC, I'll accept it, but know I'll be with you".
In the other hand, I don't see Beckett saying yes yet. But I also don't see her thinking he's doing it just to prevent her for leaving. He is saying her he wants an "always" even if she decides to take the job. At least, that is how I see it.
In absolute agreement, you've put into words everything that was going through my head during the episode and more. That's why I find Martha and Rick'c conversation so grating. :/ Also putting blame on Castle while always making Kate the responsible and righteous one is getting old, certainly not the first time it happened.
Everyone who thinks she was going to take the job - did we watch the same episode yesterday?
Did you not see the interrogation room scene where she said "this is my home, etc, all emotional"? She clearly changed her mind at that same moment. And when Ryan and Esposito were going to take the statement from that guy she said "I need to tell you something, but first I need to talk to someone else" - she had this little smile on her face, as she finally knows what she wants. Clearly it wasn't a job, wouldn't put the smile on her face. And on swings, she agreed to wanting something more FOR THEIR RELATIONSHIP, because that was the subject on the swings. So, no, she wasn't going to take the job.
Proposal didn't surprise me at all. It was weird the circumstances in which it happened, before he knew she picked him (because she did), but other than that, I have seen that coming from Martha's reference a couple of episodes before with Vaughn. Especially after Martha - Castle conversation last night.
I could say a lot of things, but I´ll try to cut it:) To be clear, Kate was at fault by lying and hiding everything from Castle, but IMO the worse was saying it was her life, like he had nothing to do with it, and he was right when he pointed it has the real issue (well, at least she apologized). Now, about the end (and in this show, the subtext is always the thing): I think after talking to Jim, Kate had decided to take the job but IMO she changed her mind in the interrogation room, and not because of Castle but herself...when she said to Ryan and Espo she would talk to them later she was kind of smiling and when she aproached the swings there was a hint of a smile too...then when Castle started to talk about deserving more I´m sure her thougts were "he´s breaking up with me" and looked to me she was almost starting to cry...then, bang, the proposal took her totally of guard!:) And I don´t think Castle´s proposal came because he was trying to keep her from leaving, he said clearly "whatever you decide"! Now, do I expect or hope her to say yes? Honestly, no, because they have a lot of issues to talk about before going there! Anyway, there´s a lot of potential to S6, but for once I´ll be ok with waiting and I´m not anxious:) And sorry, it came out a long post:)
I agree with you. As much as it is sweet and great that he's ready and wants to have more as he says this isn't exactly what he's doing. What he is doing here by proposing is tying her down. If she says yes and Castle is still at where he stood most the episode she is giving up a unbelievable opportunity that she said she wanted most! That isn't fair to Kate. If she says yes like her father said she is going to resent him. My Solution: Castle gives Martha the apartment, Alexis stays in school and Castle/Beckett move to DC (Only a few hours from NY Btw...hello she got there and back in morning) Castle is a writer!! That makes him moble and he is rich he can go with her and she can follow her career, we are in the 21st century guys she can do this! Plus, the show needs a mix up and yes she can go and then choose to leave at least she tried!!

I don't think Castle proposed to keep her from leaving either, but I do think he did it to tie her down to him so to speak. Whereas as I don't agree with everything Martha said, she might have been right about Rick being wary about the future of this relationship. The proposal seemed like a desperate move to prevent them from drifting apart.
Honestly, i hated the end. I liked the episode itself- case of the week wasn't really all that intersting but who cares? it's not as if anyone can concentrate on the case with the possibility of Kate leaving as it is. I LOVED Stana Katic in this episode. she was amazing. that said, i'm definitely team Castle in here. they were working SO good as a team in this episode, just in order to show Beckett what she stands to lose if she moves. I really hope she says no. not that I want them to break up, hell, 4 years of waiting, having it all and then taking it away is a very mean (I sound like a petulant little girl, but that's how i feel..) thing to do *ahem* AM *ahem*. BUT the proposal was so...wrong. All of us had it in our mind, it was one of the biggest speculations (props to AM for the nod to the Kate's pregnant one) but it was just so.... unsatisfying is the best I can come up with. I was certain he was going to break up with her. she was too, and while i have no doubt Castle means it and wants to marry her, that's not the big and intimate thing they (and us viewers) deserve.
I have a feeling we won't be starting next season at this point and time. I kinda like the idea of the first episode is Kate in DC, us having no idea what happened and where Castle is 'till they start flashing us back, little bits at a time. Whatever happens, can it PLEASE be September?
I'm hoping she'll say something like, no I won't marry you.. maybe one day, I just needed to know that you were really serious about us and that we have a future and now I do so that's all I need to know to make my decision... and she'll not take the job and they'll stay together but not be engaged. because I agree that it seemed rushed and forced. I feel like she deserves a better proposal than that lol.
I never expected him to propose to her & they left us hanging. He said whatever she decides he just wanrs to be married to her so he is not asking her not take that job. I just don' t think she will after her dad told her this would be running away from hers & Castles situation like she has done in the past. She now has what Castle wants their future to be like she must decide if she wants that too which I think she does.
Well, I found this episode awesome at first, but then I was like wait a minute... So I re watched the bigger scenes, like namely the conversation between Beckett and Lanie. It wasn't till that moment that I actually understood the issue with Beckett. It wasn't because she didn't know where her relationship with Castle was heading that she was all worried, but because she was afraid to actually talk about it and to actually commit herself to Castle. She's afraid to get serious in a relationship even if she knows she loves him. It's just not in her nature to include someone else in her life and to make plans for the future.
I've realized and surely I am not alone, is that she's someone that lives in the present. She just can't think of the future and barely talks about the past. It is always Castle that brings up the past and tries to know her better, but like he said in the end she can't let in anyone. And I really hate it when writers put all the fault to Castle, when is clearly Beckett that has major issues in really making her mind about what's more important to her.
I really wish that she says 'no' and that she passes some time in DC so she could really think without anyone influencing her decisions. It will also be nice to see Castle alone for one or two episodes and learn more about him as a character since we know not much about him and since all writers are focusing on since the beginning is Beckett. I sometimes wonder why this show is called Castle.
Found it very underwhelming. There was more case than anything, and very little communication between Castle and Beckett. Usually the finales are such a massive step up in quality/drama than normal episodes, but this barely felt like a finale.
When the screen went black in the end, it took be a couple of seconds to realize that was the end of the episode (and the season). I was expecting more but as cliffhangers go, it was a nice one. Other shows have tried this cliffhanger before. It will be interesting to see how they resolve it. The have built it up in such a way that I don't see Kate saying no to the job. It would sort of go against everything we know about the character. The way I see for the show to go on the same is for, somehow, the new job offer to be taken off the table. Maybe Senator Bracken will have something to say about that?
COME ON GUYS!... :)... Am I the only one who think that job offer for Beckett is a ploy of Senator Bracken????? Really? :) For me it would be great twist... he want's to get rid of Beckett from NY.... and a job in DC whould be great way to do that! :P
Unfortunately this episode didn't live up to the hype for me. I think Beckett has decided to stay "home" at the 12th, and I only hope the look on her face was shock and not horror at the proposal otherwise they may not be able to recover next season. Really disappointed that we didn't get the progress we seemed to get promised. I do agree with many people here that Beckett has some serious committment issues. I think if she takes the job then she will realise its a mistake - but how many times can she come back to the 12th without it seeming really contrived? Sorry usually the season finale episodes are top of my favourites list, but this one will be far down the list. We had some of the best episodes in the 100th and Still but the last few episodes have felt really disjointed and I have watched them in the order they were originally planned and it only felt even worse. . It had been one of the best seasons so far up to this point but this has taken the shine off it for me. I will be rewatching Castle over the summer, but will stop at Still. I don't think I could take the repeated disappointment. :-(
I don't think that Kate will answer yes..i mean Marlowe says that the 6th season will be a complicated season i think that she'll take the job for fw episode and then she will come back tho the priecint, and then will be problems in ther relationships! However this is my thought
i love this finale! not to action-packed and not to romantic ... perfect!!! and the cliffhanger ... love u castle, love u andrew! <3 and beckett don't you dare saying no! Say yes!!!!!
It could be great, but... the ending didn't fit! For me, it just wasn't the right moment for propose! I'm sorry, but in this moment, if I were Kate, I would say no....
The reason her face was like that was because she was bracing herself for a break up, but then he did the opposite ... give her at least 30 seconds to process all the information and the reason his face is so still and serious is because he is showing her that he can be ... I am sure if there was another 10 to 20 seconds then we would see both of their expressions changed. I told her ... "So whatever happens and what ever you decide ... then he asks her to marry him.
I can't really vote awesome, because as good as the ep was, there was also some glaring gaps and wrong choices in storytelling that sort of put a damper on my glee, so just great from me.
i love this finale! not to action-packed and not to romantic ... perfect!!! and the cliffhanger ... love u castle, love u andrew! <3 and beckett don't you dare saying no! Say yes!!!!!

And there ends my novella. Again, sorry.
just perfect..

Oh...my...f**king...God...That is all I can say right now... :O
ReplyDeleteDon't worry I actually did the same thing XD Just kinda stared at the TV screen waiting
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with both of you
ReplyDeleteAmazing
ReplyDeleteI am already counting the days until the Season 6
We have so many Questions , and no answers (Job and proposal)
I don't want to think about it now cause if i do, i'm not gonna survive the hiatus !
See you in Fall
Oh my man! I would like you to write a novel instantly about CASKETT so that I can keep myself invovled during this hiatus. That was epic what you just wrote...Seriously why don't you consider writing reviews?
ReplyDeleteIs it me or was the proposal a bit forced and insincere? The writers probably meant for it that way to have a framework for season six. I just wish the first and only proposal was a happy one... But then again Kate could propose later on and that would be stupendous!!!!!
ReplyDeleteagreed. :(
ReplyDeletebesides which, does anyone else get creeped out everytime they show the 'feds'? doesn't seem like anywhere you'd want to work
ReplyDeleteI'm reading a lot of reactions here.
ReplyDeleteIn the other hand, I don't see Beckett saying yes yet. But I also don't see her thinking he's doing it just to prevent her for leaving. He is saying her he wants an "always" even if she decides to take the job. At least, that is how I see it.
I wasn't expecting that OMG awesome for me! haters to the left!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think he was going to propose, because of the way they're sat on the swings - they're headed in different directions
ReplyDeleteOMG OMG OMG OMG OMG, i didn't expect this
ReplyDeleteI would love that scenario actually.
ReplyDeleteIn absolute agreement, you've put into words everything that was going through my head during the episode and more. That's why I find Martha and Rick'c conversation so grating. :/ Also putting blame on Castle while always making Kate the responsible and righteous one is getting old, certainly not the first time it happened.
ReplyDeleteAwesome.!! It is not september yet..?
ReplyDeleteEveryone who thinks she was going to take the job - did we watch the same episode yesterday?
ReplyDeleteDid you not see the interrogation room scene where she said "this is my home, etc, all emotional"?
She clearly WASN'T going to take the job... re-watch last couple of minutes - from the interrogation room, I suggest.
ReplyDeleteI could say a lot of things, but I´ll try to cut it:)
ReplyDeleteTo be clear, Kate was at fault by lying and hiding everything from Castle, but IMO the worse was saying it was her life, like he had nothing to do with it, and he was right when he pointed it has the real issue (well, at least she apologized).
Now, about the end (and in this show, the subtext is always the thing): I think after talking to Jim, Kate had decided to take the job but IMO she changed her mind in the interrogation room, and not because of Castle but herself...when she said to Ryan and Espo she would talk to them later she was kind of smiling and when she aproached the swings there was a hint of a smile too...then when Castle started to talk about deserving more I´m sure her thougts were "he´s breaking up with me" and looked to me she was almost starting to cry...then, bang, the proposal took her totally of guard!:)
And I don´t think Castle´s proposal came because he was trying to keep her from leaving, he said clearly "whatever you decide"!
Now, do I expect or hope her to say yes? Honestly, no, because they have a lot of issues to talk about before going there!
Anyway, there´s a lot of potential to S6, but for once I´ll be ok with waiting and I´m not anxious:)
And sorry, it came out a long post:)
Castle is a "fun" show, i dont think AWM will drag the angst and drama for more than 3 eps max.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you.

ReplyDeleteI don't think Castle proposed to keep her from leaving either, but I do think he did it to tie her down to him so to speak. Whereas as I don't agree with everything Martha said, she might have been right about Rick being wary about the future of this relationship. The proposal seemed like a desperate move to prevent them from drifting apart.
ReplyDeletecause i just really need to vent..
ReplyDeleteHonestly, i hated the end.
ReplyDeleteI never expected him to propose to her & they left us hanging. He said whatever she decides he just wanrs to be married to her so he is not asking her not take that job. I just don' t think she will after her dad told her this would be running away from hers & Castles situation like she has done in the past. She now has what Castle wants their future to be like she must decide if she wants that too which I think she does.
ReplyDeleteoh I love this cliffangher, everything was perfect
ReplyDeleteWHAT....THE.....FUCK....WAS....THAT!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I found this episode awesome at first, but then I was like wait a minute...
ReplyDeleteI've realized and surely I am not alone, is that she's someone that lives in the present.
ReplyDeleteWhen the screen went black in the end, it took be a couple of seconds to realize that was the end of the episode (and the season).
ReplyDeleteCOME ON GUYS!... :)... Am I the only one who think that job offer for Beckett is a ploy of Senator Bracken????? Really? :) For me it would be great twist... he want's to get rid of Beckett from NY.... and a job in DC whould be great way to do that! :P
ReplyDeleteI saw the proposal coming a mile away. But I have to say it is a nice cliffhannger.
ReplyDeleteI see you have wild conspiracy theories... Sure you're not Castle? :P
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately this episode didn't live up to the hype for me. I think Beckett has decided to stay "home" at the 12th, and I only hope the look on her face was shock and not horror at the proposal otherwise they may not be able to recover next season.
ReplyDeleteReally disappointed that we didn't get the progress we seemed to get promised.
It has crossed my mind, I admit. ;]
ReplyDeleteI just have to say: THANK YOU MARLOWE!!!!!!! Really really thank you!!!! this is way beyond AWESOME!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think that Kate will answer yes..i mean Marlowe says that the 6th season will be a complicated season i think that she'll take the job for fw episode and then she will come back tho the priecint, and then will be problems in ther relationships! However this is my thought
ReplyDeletei love this finale! not to action-packed and not to romantic ... perfect!!! and the cliffhanger ... love u castle, love u andrew! <3 and beckett don't you dare saying no! Say yes!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt could be great, but... the ending didn't fit! For me, it just wasn't the right moment for propose! I'm sorry, but in this moment, if I were Kate, I would say no....
ReplyDeleteWe don't want a repeat of Bones
ReplyDeleteThe reason her face was like that was because she was bracing herself for a break up, but then he did the opposite ... give her at least 30 seconds to process all the information and the reason his face is so still and serious is because he is showing her that he can be ... I am sure if there was another 10 to 20 seconds then we would see both of their expressions changed. I told her ... "So whatever happens and what ever you decide ... then he asks her to marry him.
ReplyDeleteI can't really vote awesome, because as good as the ep was, there was also some glaring gaps and wrong choices in storytelling that sort of put a damper on my glee, so just great from me.
ReplyDeletei love this finale! not to action-packed and not to romantic ... perfect!!! and the cliffhanger ... love u castle, love u andrew! <3 and beckett don't you dare saying no! Say yes!!!!!
ReplyDeletei like this scenario..
