Simply a fantastic episode. Loved the way they brought P/E back together with something so simple at the end. The action stuff was wonderfully done and they made Claudia so fantastic this time around.
Only thing I didn't like was that we get to *cough* see so much of Martha's "exuberance." Haven't we gotten the idea they're sleeping together by now? Must we keep getting treated to new scenes?
I am so happy that Nina and Martha (and Granny!) survived to live another season. I am delighted that Elizabeth and Philip reunited two simple words but beautifully done. Don't blame Paige for snooping around!
Second season now please?? That was brilliant! I wonder if Paige is going to suspect the truth and, if so, what she would think of it. After all, she is American, for real. Nina puts me off quite a bit, I really don't get her (though I suspect that's the whole point). Very glad that Philip and Elizabeth got together and that was a great way to do it. Over all, a fantastic season and a great finale.
Hahaha, yes that was very cringe-worthy once again! Though I get why they show it, it was their wedding night from the looks of it.
This may sound mean to Margo Martindale, but I hope either her pilot doesn't get picked up or they can work around her schedule to feature her in season 2. I love Granny! Even more so after this episode!
And as to bringing Philip and Elizabeth back together, I never would've figured it would've been so simple as those two words. But it worked, perfectly! Though it took her getting shot to stop being stubborn. ;)
Completely agree with you there. I keep going back to the pilot which, to be honest, was something I only watched because I was bored at that moment. I had already dismissed the premise of the show as Homeland-clone set during the Cold War. Boy, was I wrong. I like it a lot better than Homeland. :)
I really liked the episode and how they managed to bring P/E together in a beautiful fashion. Also I appreciated the way you answered our questions giving us something but never actually giving away anything(lol I hope that made sense!). This added extra fun to watching the episode. :)
The plot twists, the car chase, the interaction between P/E, the scenes with Stan/Nina, Paige finally exhibiting some curiosity about her parents' work - I loved every minute of it. They ended the season on a perfect note.
Martha is the only part that grates on me. I get why they show it too, but I wish they would either go somewhere new with it, or show it less because it seems like their scenes are starting to get repetitive and really, I don't need to see them doing it in that many positions!
>>>>>>>>>I wish they would either go somewhere new with it
The sex scenes grate on my nerves, but I can think of far worse scenarios for next season than endless M/C sex romps. Example: What if Martha decides she wants to start a family with "Clark"? Obviously, Philip would never go along with it, but still...
I'm still amazed she didn't turn into a stalker. I was really expecting that Martha would - at the very least - do what Paige finally did, start snooping around, maybe follow "Clark" home. Surely, at some point, this woman will start to question "Clark's" cover story.
Oh, I'm almost 100% convinced they're going to have Martha pressure "Clark" to have a baby with her. They've turned her into a ridiculous joke who is completely obsessed and I can't wait for any scene that includes her to end. What a waste of screen time when there are so many smart, interesting female characters I'd rather see.
What will be unforgivable is if they actually have him get Martha pregnant or have an "oops" moment. It seemed dumb enough when they did it with Irina (if it was even true), though I could understand that a little since it was way in the past. I can't believe Philip wouldn't make 100% sure he didn't get a mark pregnant, and I just don't want to see that story line. Not only is Martha bad enough to see on screen, but it's too soap-opera-ish. I'm personally hoping she gets killed off quickly so we can get on to better characters who need more screen time.

Great season, I just finished it and can't wait for another. I hope Paige will find that tape from Elizabeth's family in the beginning of episode 2.01, because I missed that in the last scene of 1.13 :)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

Totally agree. Excellent Finale to a great first season.
ReplyDeleteJust watched it. WOW!!!! I was on the edge of my seat for the whole hour, totally gripping. So many shades of grey.
ReplyDeleteI loved it when Philip had to phone stan after stan shot his wife to look after the kids.
Cannot wait for Season 2. Along with Bates Motel and Hannibal this is the best new show on TV

ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it. Hopefully I'll be able to do the same for the second season.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Now the only hard part is waiting until next year for more episodes!

ReplyDeleteI still can't believe we have to wait until January!
