Whether you like it or not, Happy Endings is still one of the most funniest comedy on TV.
In the season 2 finale, we left Alex and Dave gave a second chance to their relationship; Brad told Jane he lost his job; Penny found a wheelchair man as a rebound for her unrequited feelings for Dave; and Max reunited with Mandonna, his all-male Madonna cover band. So, what happened next?

Season 3 premiered with Penny stuck in an upper-body cast, because she had an accident, so Max took the role of a male nurse... until he found himself crushing on Penny’s physical therapist. Meanwhile, Alex and Dave told their friends they’re back together (again), but the gang just groaned and pointed out that they already knew. And Brad found himself in the condition of a stay-at-home husband.
Let’s proceed with the storylines.

Does Penny still have feelings for Dave? In episode 4, “More like Stanksgiving”, the gang watched an unaired episode of “Real World” which showed them in college years. Alex found out that Penny had a crush on Dave, but eventually she said she’s over him.
In the next episode, Penny met a terrific guy named Pete (guest star Nick Zano). They started dating for some episodes, till in episode 12, Pete proposed to Penny. They two planned the wedding and everything seemed to go in the right way... but when Penny started having doubts about her engagement because she knew him for a couple of months, Jane invited them to a couples game night with her and Brad. The aftermath of the game prompted Penny to make an unexpected decision: she broke off her engagement with Pete after realizing she doesn't have what Jane and Brad have and couldn’t see herself with him decades from now.

As we all know, Max’s relationships have never lasted more than an episode. Even during this season, he had some flirtations though, as for Penny’s therapist Kent. In episode 8, Jane and Dave tried to find a perfect match for Max, but they failed because actually their match didn’t fit with Max!
Max have always had a solid friendship with Penny. But when her story with Pete got serious, Max was afraid to lose her best friend, so he tried to replace her with a new one who had a messy love life.
Max’s life was in danger when in episode 21, he met again Chase, his ex roommate whose life Max ruined previously this season. But when Chase realized Max may not have a life to ruin, Max ran into Jane for help. Jane started to build Max’s life... but according to Jane’s style.

The showrunners said we only saw Alex and Dave trying to be friends after their failing wedding, but we’ve never seen them as a couple. So, this season gave us the opportunity to see them together. The couple tried to understand what does it mean to live together: they bought a new house where they moved in, they were forced to tell their parents they’re back together, plus they’re dealing with their own unresolved wedding issues in episode 13.

And then there are Brad and Jane. They’re the perfect couple, although, Brad had to deal with losing his job and being at home. Eventually, he found a job in kids’ place as “Chief Fun Officer”. In episode 11, Jane’s past was revealed when her ex came in town, but Brad was surprised to learn that this guy, Ryan... is a woman! Jane is always the man in their relationship, as was showed in episode 18, during the couples game night. Jane and Brad knew each other for 10 years and they’re still a solid couple.

Season finale was supposed to air last Friday, but it was postponed, as you know, in respect for Boston’s bomb attack, so it will air on May 3rd, together with episode 22. Season finale will be called “Brothas & Sisters” and will involve Jane and Alex’s older sister’s wedding. Jane is planning the wedding.
What I hope for this episode? First of all: another wedding for the finale? Second, I’m expecting some funny scenes, because in Happy Endings, things can never go in the way it’s supposed to be.

Despite the low ratings, Happy Endings still remains a good comedy show. But who knows if ABC agrees with that? Do you think it will be renewed? And what are your expectations for the season finale?
