In anticipation of a series order, one of ABC’s hottest pilots, the Adam F. Goldberg comedy, started making offers to writers last night, an indication of an imminent pickup. The project, from Sony Pictures Television and Happy Madison, has been building momentum since it moved from Fox, which it was originally set up last season, to ABC this past summer. The 1980s family comedy, inspired by Goldberg’s experience growing up, centers on an in-your-face mother and hot-tempered father who love their three eccentric kids so much, they can’t bear to see them grow up. Wendi McLendon-Covey, Jeff Garlin, George Segal, Darien Provost and Troy Gentil star in the pilot, directed by Seth Gordon.
