Yawn, another poll mostly with shows intended for teenagers and/or women. It's clearly missing REAL bad boys like Jax from Sons of Anarchy or Christopher from The Sopranos. :)
On this list: Spike, Dean, Dexter, House. Off this list: Not sure why Oliver Queen isn't the series "bad boy," Jonny Lee Miller's version of Sherlock Holmes, Sawyer from LOST, Sam Malone from Cheers.
While I can't actually define what a "tv bad boy" is, I'm not sure both Reese and Finch could be classified as such. Resse possibly because of his abilities but Finch kinda fits the heroic geek profile.
It's bay boy, not bad guy. A bad boy on tv can be a hero he just also lives outside of societal norms (I guess I can define it). The archetype would be Happy Days's The Fonz, a rebel.
Since I have never seen Dean as a "bad boy" and they have wimped Damon out so much, I went with my first vampire love, Spike. I think Sam would have been better in this poll than Dean.
From the list I went with Hook. And I would add Daryl(The Walking Dead) a few characters from Game of Thrones and practically the entire cast of Spartacus.
Agree with you about Dean, but Sam doesn't fit the term "bad boy" either. A straight A student who puts himself through college isn't a classic "bad boy."
I'm not arguing that they've defanged Damon (Stefan is more or less same as usual - lame), just that they neutered Spike pretty well in the last few years of Buffy. Dude spent a huge portion of the 7th season crying.
uh, I LOVE bad boys!! Of the ones listed Klaus is my favorite. But my real favorites are Jax Teller (SoA), Jaime Lannister (GoT) and Boyd Crowder (Justified). They are some of my favorite Tv characters and so well payed by amazing actors.
There are so many bad boys on TV! My choices are Damon, Dexter Morgan and Dean. Off the list I would name Sawyer and Ben from LOST, Jesse from Breaking Bad, John Reese from Person of Interest, Derek from Teen Wolf and Tyrion from Game of Thrones.
Jammie Lannister to be out done by brother dear, Joffrey! Sorry, their is no redeeming quality for him. I would also say Nick for Homeland but he was turned,it could be undone. So my list is
Still disagree with this. Hunters are basically soldiers against an enemy society doesn't know about. That fact alone doesn't make them bad boys. I'll give you Dean's womanizing and disrespectful snark from the earlier seasons as bad boy traits tho.
I don't watch half of these shows, but I voted for Klaus. Damon just annoys me, Dean isn't a bad boy, and the Governor I think of more as a homicidal lunatic rather than a bad boy. I would have included Merle as the bad boy of TWD.
Considering what Spike went through there, I'd say crying about it was the most "healthy" outcome. But even "crying" Spike was still a badboy, doing badass stuff.
Not to mention that he "manned up" stopped crying and started doing even more badass things right after that phase.
I'm sorry, but that's silly. Damon's kicked more ass over the last two years than any non-villain character on TVD, and Spike did very little until the last few episodes of Season 7 after they literally wrote an episode where Buffy more or less called Spike a pussy.
Had to go with 'other' because my favorite "bad boy" will always be - Lindsey McDonald -, 'evil' Wolfram & Hart lawyer from Angel, who never really got to finish redeeming himself. I've been a fan of Christian Kane and a proud Kaniac ever since. Although I do enjoy Boyd Crowder (Justified), who despite being a better man, is still pretty bad at times. The others I like on that list aren't what I'd generally call "bad". Such as I agree Dean isn't really ever been bad enough to be a bad boy to me, he's fully and always been on the side of good even if not the side of the law. Neither is Eric from True Blood. He's just a vampire with a naughty side. Never really doing anything intentionally malicious to innocent folks, besides what comes naturally, which is feeding from them. And Damon is more of a reformed 'bad boy' than anything now.
Spike is always always ALWAYS going to win this one for me. He was the original TV badboy (well, in my 23 years haha). Vampires like Damon and Klaus have blunt baby teeth compared to him. I would have liked to have voted for Dean, but I just don't consider him a bad boy. A badASS on the other hand...
Good point but I would say it is his absolute disdain of authority figures (police) and snark in the early seasons that made him the bad boy figure of Supernatural.
Can't believe I forgot about The Governor or I would've voted for him... I'm cutting Lindsey and amending my "Other" vote to include The Governor. Lindsey was bad, sure, but not as bad as that psycho.
I went back and forth on Angel and then decided that I could use other for Angelus because while there was nothing "boy" about him, he was deliciously bad in many cases. I remember laughing when he and Dru were screwing with Spike in the chair and I just knew it was going to come back to bite them.
I'm really surprised that House didn't win the contest. I mean, he's the ultimate bad boy. Sarcastic, addicted to drugs, self destructive. What more could you posiibly want?
i love dean but i wouldnt call him a bad boy. maybe if you compared him in seaosn 1 to sam in season 1 but deffinitley not anymore. had to go with damon.
I voted for Dexter, Duke and Dean. But I would have much rather voted for Jax Teller from SoA, Lindsey McDonald from Angel and Boyd Crowder from Justified.
This poll is too difficult! It needs to be separated by genre or species =P. When it comes to regular humans living in the regular/non-supernatural fantasy world I have to go with Chuck Bass. However when it comes to vampires, I'd have to go with Spike. Overall I voted Dean Winchester :D
After reading comments I think Angelus is my favourite bad boy! Dean is bad but in the also-saves-the-world-on-occasion kind of way. Spike was definitely neutered but I still liked him, he was certainly the most humorous bad boy.
It was fun being a part of it. I am doing the complete rewatch this summer to prepare. I'll be live tweeting so if you have Twitter, you should join in.
Angelus had real charisma for being the bad guy. I couldn't ever root for him but man did I love when he was on my TV screen. He got my vote too. Well and Dean.
sure! i just watched the entire first season again!!! will watch the rest a bit later, i have lots of work unfinished!!! i love season 1 and 2, S3 got a bit messy.
I enjoyed s3 and the pilot for 4 looked like it would have been interesting. It was fun following the results on kickstarter and looking forward to my goodies. ;)
Angelus loved being evil which made him awesome but of course he was horrible so not the bad boy that you want to hang out with. Dean always gets my vote!
You're right. I had the exact same reaction to that comment. And contrary to Spike, Damon has his moments when he snaps back into bad boy mode (i.e. kill someone for no reason)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Gul Dukat from Star Trek Deep Space Nine, The Governor (The Walking Dead), Scorpius (Farscape).
ReplyDeleteYou can't go past the complexity, humor, and wit of Dr. Gregory House, but I'd also add John Reese and Harold Finch to the list
ReplyDeleteYawn, another poll mostly with shows intended for teenagers and/or women. It's clearly missing REAL bad boys like Jax from Sons of Anarchy or Christopher from The Sopranos. :)
ReplyDeleteOn this list: Spike, Dean, Dexter, House. Off this list: Not sure why Oliver Queen isn't the series "bad boy," Jonny Lee Miller's version of Sherlock Holmes, Sawyer from LOST, Sam Malone from Cheers.
ReplyDeleteGoT's Ramsay Snow will tish all over your puny offerings.
ReplyDeleteWhile I can't actually define what a "tv bad boy" is, I'm not sure both Reese and Finch could be classified as such. Resse possibly because of his abilities but Finch kinda fits the heroic geek profile.
ReplyDeleteDean is not a bad guy, he's a real hero!
ReplyDeleteAnd Ares from Xena!
ReplyDeleteDamon Dean Eric
ReplyDeleteThe best...
I voted Spike, but wanted to vote dean as well. But to be honest he isn't a bad boy at all. He's a really good person.
ReplyDeleteIt's bay boy, not bad guy. A bad boy on tv can be a hero he just also lives outside of societal norms (I guess I can define it). The archetype would be Happy Days's The Fonz, a rebel.
ReplyDeleteSince I have never seen Dean as a "bad boy" and they have wimped Damon out so much, I went with my first vampire love, Spike. I think Sam would have been better in this poll than Dean.
ReplyDeleteThe Swede (Tor Gunderson) - Hell on Wheels
ReplyDeleteFrom the list I went with Hook. And I would add Daryl(The Walking Dead) a few characters from Game of Thrones and practically the entire cast of Spartacus.
ReplyDeleteI love Spike, but I kind of laughed at "wimped out Damon" and then chose Spike - who Buffy not only wimped out, but wimped out for the same reason.
ReplyDeleteMy fifth vote would be for Derek.
ReplyDeleteThat's because whoever submitted the poll probably doesn't watch these shows. You can always vote for "other" if you're not happy with the choices.
ReplyDeleteSpike, Damon, Dean and Klaus :)
ReplyDeletetwo others: Jess from Gilmore Girls and Puck from Glee
ReplyDeleteDamon and Stefan are so wimped out now they can not even control a baby vamp..
ReplyDeleteExcept that Dean's not a rebel either. He was the son who would never dream of disobeying his father.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you about Dean, but Sam doesn't fit the term "bad boy" either. A straight A student who puts himself through college isn't a classic "bad boy."
ReplyDeleteI'm not arguing that they've defanged Damon (Stefan is more or less same as usual - lame), just that they neutered Spike pretty well in the last few years of Buffy. Dude spent a huge portion of the 7th season crying.
ReplyDeleteuh, I LOVE bad boys!! Of the ones listed Klaus is my favorite. But my real favorites are Jax Teller (SoA), Jaime Lannister (GoT) and Boyd Crowder (Justified). They are some of my favorite Tv characters and so well payed by amazing actors.
ReplyDeleteYes, calling Ramsay a bad boy will be putting it lightly. He´s the devil.
ReplyDeleteBut by societal norm he is a rebel. He may have been the perfect son but he's the son of a father who dopped out of society.
ReplyDeleteI know. I vote for Jax Teller too. The ultimate bad boy.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many bad boys on TV! My choices are Damon, Dexter Morgan and Dean. Off the list I would name Sawyer and Ben from LOST, Jesse from Breaking Bad, John Reese from Person of Interest, Derek from Teen Wolf and Tyrion from Game of Thrones.
ReplyDeleteJammie Lannister to be out done by brother dear, Joffrey! Sorry, their is no redeeming quality for him. I would also say Nick for Homeland but he was turned,it could be undone. So my list is
ReplyDeleteJoffrey
Jamie
i'll come back to this
The Governor (The Walking Dead), he even scares me (a little).
ReplyDeleteScorpius wasn't *Cough* bad he was just misunderstood. All he really wanted was to get inside Johns head,ha!
ReplyDeleteJaime and Joffrey are great picks, Laura.
ReplyDeleteStill disagree with this. Hunters are basically soldiers against an enemy society doesn't know about. That fact alone doesn't make them bad boys. I'll give you Dean's womanizing and disrespectful snark from the earlier seasons as bad boy traits tho.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking more about drinking demon blood and being soulless.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch half of these shows, but I voted for Klaus. Damon just annoys me, Dean isn't a bad boy, and the Governor I think of more as a homicidal lunatic rather than a bad boy. I would have included Merle as the bad boy of TWD.
ReplyDeleteSawyer would have been a good one to include.
ReplyDeleteOH yeah, huge fan of Boyd Crowder/Walton Goggins and loved him in The Shield also.
ReplyDeleteBoyd Crowder should not only be on this list by winning it by a mile.
ReplyDeleteDean, but he's still a good cookie ;)
ReplyDeleteInteresting that House is one here, quite a unique one. Duke would be my third choice. Nice poll.
For me it's obviously Spike from this list as well as House and Dexter. Not included in this list is Jax Teller who is one of my favourites..
ReplyDeleteI agree there is no one to compare to him!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry but I have to disagree.
ReplyDeleteSpike progressed as a person, but even when "Good" he still took names, bashed heads and was an awesome guy with rebel-personality.
Damon stopped progressing after S1 and stood in "yes elena" mode, occasionally shedding tears over being misunderstood.
Spike and Hook. That's not even a challenge.
ReplyDeleteConsidering what Spike went through there, I'd say crying about it was the most "healthy" outcome. But even "crying" Spike was still a badboy, doing badass stuff.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention that he "manned up" stopped crying and started doing even more badass things right after that phase.
I'm sorry, but that's silly. Damon's kicked more ass over the last two years than any non-villain character on TVD, and Spike did very little until the last few episodes of Season 7 after they literally wrote an episode where Buffy more or less called Spike a pussy.
ReplyDeleteThese are all anti-heroes.
ReplyDeleteI would argue Klaus is a villain and Dexter is an anti-villain.
Dean, Damon, Chuck, Hook, and Klaus
ReplyDeleteHad to go with 'other' because my favorite "bad boy" will always be - Lindsey McDonald -, 'evil' Wolfram & Hart lawyer from Angel, who never really got to finish redeeming himself. I've been a fan of Christian Kane and a proud Kaniac ever since.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I do enjoy Boyd Crowder (Justified), who despite being a better man, is still pretty bad at times.

He's just a vampire with a naughty side. Never really doing anything intentionally malicious to innocent folks, besides what comes naturally, which is feeding from them. And Damon is more of a reformed 'bad boy' than anything now.
Oh I forgot about him. Yes, he was a good 'bad boy'. haha.
ReplyDeletei forgot to add Logan form Veronica Mars!!
ReplyDeleteOMG i cant believe i forgot to add Sawyer, i knew i missed out some!
ReplyDeletemy bad! i love him
ReplyDeleteyoure right, i dont watch SoA or the Sopranos ;)
ReplyDeleteSpike is always always ALWAYS going to win this one for me. He was the original TV badboy (well, in my 23 years haha). Vampires like Damon and Klaus have blunt baby teeth compared to him. I would have liked to have voted for Dean, but I just don't consider him a bad boy. A badASS on the other hand...
ReplyDeleteSawyer was the best. Miss him! (and Lost)
ReplyDeleteKlaus and Kol Mikaelson. fav bad boys <3
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Boyd has the best monologs ever seen on TV. He has so much charisma and deserves to win.
ReplyDeleteyeah i loove him! i dont knw where my brains went when i created the poll , oh yeah i was thinking of Spike!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard making polls! You're always going to forget someone.
ReplyDelete:-) LOL
ReplyDeleteOliver is Arrow's bad boy for me right now too but I think it will ultimately be Tommy in the end.
ReplyDeleteGood point but I would say it is his absolute disdain of authority figures (police) and snark in the early seasons that made him the bad boy figure of Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteYou can vote for up to 4 people in this one.
ReplyDeleteExactly! Spike started out as such a great villain and then they chipped him and turned him into vanilla pudding. It was a big let down.
ReplyDeleteLindsey from Angel would have gotten a vote from me too.
ReplyDeleteLogan - great choice. Surprised I didn't think of him either since I've been all about the Veronica Mars Movie this month.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Spike & Dean. My others: 1.) Lindsey 2.) Angel himself, because he wasn't always a bad boy but when he was, boy was he bad!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe I forgot about The Governor or I would've voted for him... I'm cutting Lindsey and amending my "Other" vote to include The Governor. Lindsey was bad, sure, but not as bad as that psycho.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jamie, but Joffrey is not a bad boy (as I understand the term anyway). He is a psychopath with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteThe Govenor is not the bad boy, he's the bad guy
ReplyDeleteThis definition of bad boy is very strange, they don't fit in the same group for sure. I went for Dexter, which is my favorite character of this list.
ReplyDeleteI went back and forth on Angel and then decided that I could use other for Angelus because while there was nothing "boy" about him, he was deliciously bad in many cases. I remember laughing when he and Dru were screwing with Spike in the chair and I just knew it was going to come back to bite them.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about this movie and how much money they got. AWESOME
ReplyDeleteI watched Angel just for the fun of Angelus.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great encouragement to devoted fans. Now people see that if there is enough interest, fans can make things happen in a big way.
ReplyDeleteEric definitely gets my vote
ReplyDeleteyeah! absolutely. I pledged too :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really surprised that House didn't win the contest. I mean, he's the ultimate bad boy. Sarcastic, addicted to drugs, self destructive. What more could you posiibly want?
ReplyDeleteThis is gold... Made me laugh :))) So true :))
ReplyDeleteDEAN! <3
ReplyDeleteDean, Spike, Wade, Hook. First runner up House.
ReplyDeleteI'm not quite sure why Dean is there, he's not a bad boy in the same way the others on here are, but I voted fo rhim anyway!
ReplyDeleteUhm why isn't Olliver Queen on this, he's most definitely a bad boy to me.
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on your definition of 'bad boy' really. Because if they meant a hot sexy bad guy, then Dean shouldn't even be on the list.
ReplyDeletei love dean but i wouldnt call him a bad boy. maybe if you compared him in seaosn 1 to sam in season 1 but deffinitley not anymore.
ReplyDeletehad to go with damon.
I voted for Dexter, Duke and Dean. But I would have much rather voted for Jax Teller from SoA, Lindsey McDonald from Angel and Boyd Crowder from Justified.
ReplyDeleteyup!
ReplyDeleteDean, THE Dean! he's a bad boy.. It's the writers who screwed up his character recently & turned him into an emo housewife! I despise them for that!
ReplyDeleteThis poll is too difficult! It needs to be separated by genre or species =P. When it comes to regular humans living in the regular/non-supernatural fantasy world I have to go with Chuck Bass. However when it comes to vampires, I'd have to go with Spike. Overall I voted Dean Winchester :D
ReplyDeleteMost of these aren't really bad boys. My list would be Jax Teller, Alex Karev, Cole Turner, Sawyer, Jesse Pinkman & Mr Big to name but a few <3
ReplyDeleteAfter reading comments I think Angelus is my favourite bad boy! Dean is bad but in the also-saves-the-world-on-occasion kind of way. Spike was definitely neutered but I still liked him, he was certainly the most humorous bad boy.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun being a part of it. I am doing the complete rewatch this summer to prepare. I'll be live tweeting so if you have Twitter, you should join in.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed s3 and the pilot for 4 looked like it would have been interesting. It was fun following the results on kickstarter and looking forward to my goodies. ;)
ReplyDeleteoh awesome!! what goodies have u awarded yourself with? i couldn't get much, as i the international shipping was too much for me!
ReplyDeleteT-shirts, DVD, stickers, script are the ones I really wanted.
ReplyDeleteIf they are talking looks 99% of them would not be on the list .I think they mean personality
ReplyDeleteawesome!! good for you ;) i do hope they make a kick-ass movie now.!! Logan should end up with Veronica, thats all im asking for!! :D
ReplyDeleteAngelus loved being evil which made him awesome but of course he was horrible so not the bad boy that you want to hang out with. Dean always gets my vote!
ReplyDeleteGood choices. I may be frustrated with Supernatural right now but Winchester brothers are always winners with me.
ReplyDeleteMicheal - Nikita
ReplyDeleteERIC, Eric and only ERIC
ReplyDeleteVincent from Beauty and the Beast !
ReplyDeleteYou're right, he sure was a bad boy and one of my personal favorites...
ReplyDeleteYou're right. I had the exact same reaction to that comment. And contrary to Spike, Damon has his moments when he snaps back into bad boy mode (i.e. kill someone for no reason)
ReplyDeleteI voted for Eric. The baddest and the sexiest. =)
ReplyDeleteyes mine too :)
ReplyDeletethe baddest and sexy guy is eric of true blood
ReplyDeleteJax Teller - Sons of Anarchy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDamon is the best <3 :)))
ReplyDeleteWade is not really a bad boy but he is certainly the best. Perfect guy!
ReplyDeleteI voted for Spike and Damon.
ReplyDeleteKlaus is a psycho and Dexter is a antihero.
